Phénomène collatéral à la sortie du “Joker”, l’un des lieux de tournage emblématique du film est pris d’assaut par les touristes et autres Instagrameurs. Tout le monde semble vouloir sa photo sur… des escaliers !

Quand un lieu de tournage devient lieu de… pèlerinage ! Ces escaliers situés dans le quartier du Bronx à New York sont assurément en train de devenir un nouveau phénomène : depuis la sortie de Joker, les photos fleurissent sur les réseaux sociaux, avec même un hashtag dédié, #jokerstairs. Il suffit de taper le mot-dièse sur les réseaux pour en faire le constat, et des montages et vidéos en témoignent.

After three dry practice sessions, a thunderstorm has hit the Hungaroring, with heavy rain failing throughout the hour before the start of qualifying. Race control vehicles are conducting reconnaissance laps to analyse if qualifying can start on time at 1400 local time.

The practice sessions saw Mercedes top all three, but FP3 ended with Max Verstappen just 0.002s adrift of Nico Rosberg’s pace-setting time. Wet conditions should play into the hands of Red Bull, with Verstappen particularly strong on intermediate tyres at Silverstone.

Ferrari was unable to match Red Bull and Mercedes in final practice but was within 0.6s of the pace after improving across all three sessions. McLaren will be targeting a spot in the top ten after Fernando Alonso was seventh quickest in FP1, FP2 and FP3.

Lewis Hamilton is unconcerned by Nico Rosberg’s new Mercedes contract, saying he doesn’t mind who his team-mate is.

Mercedes announced Rosberg had signed a new two-year contract on Friday morning, keeping the German at the team for a further two years. He and Hamilton have had a number of controversial incidents since Mercedes became the dominant force at the start of 2014, and have collided on multiple occasions this season.

Asked how he feels about Rosberg’s new deal, Hamilton replied: “It’s alright.

“I don’t mind who is my team-mate. It’s good for stability in the team.

“It’s good for the team. Not really much else to say – it doesn’t change anything for me.”

Having won the last two drivers’ championships in battles against Rosberg, when asked if he can see himself winning the next three as team-mates, Hamilton replied: “I don’t know.

“I’m going to work as hard as I can to continue doing what I love, and doing it to the best of my ability. If for the continued years the best of my ability is better than his ability then so be it. But he’s going to continue to drive well and drive hard. He’s no slouch, he’s a great driver, so I’ve just got to make sure I’m at my best.”

Hamilton is currently sitting just one point behind Rosberg in the drivers’ championship, a gap which has been reduced from 43 points over the past five races.

India has witnessed a 16 per cent increase in the number of tuberculosis cases reported in 2018 against the previous year’s figure of 18 lakh, according to an official report released this week.

According to the ‘India TB Report 2019,’ of the total notifications, 25 per cent (5.4 lakh) cases were reported from the private sector, a 40 per cent increase from last year.

Quelques heures après avoir annoncé qu’il réaliserait Astérix & Obélix, L’Empire du milieu, Guillaume Canet fait une seconde annonce : il sera lui-même Astérix, succédant ainsi à Christian Clavier, Clovis Cornillac et Edouard Baer. Pour former le duo iconique, Guillaume Canet sera accompagné de l’un de ses fidèles complices et amis, avec qui il a tourné à de nombreuses reprises : Gilles Lellouche. Il enfilera la salopette d’Obélix,  à la place de Gérard Depardieu, pour les besoins de cette 5ème adaptation Live Action des célèbres aventures inspirées des BD.

Le scénario, l’adaptation et les dialogues sont écrit par le tandem et Guillaume Canet.

Le tournage est prévu au printemps 2020. Astérix & Obélix, L’Empire du milieu est produit par Les Editions Albert-René, Les Enfants Terribles, Pathé et Trésors Films. 

Pour mémoire, les dernières nouvelles d’une adaptation au cinéma d’Astérix remontaient à 2017, comme nous l’écrivions récemment. Si l’on ne connaissait pas encore le nom du réalisateur aux commandes (Fabien Onteniente avait un temps été pressenti), on savait que ce nouveau long métrage devait être une toute nouvelle aventure, non adaptée des BD créées par Uderzo et Goscinny. “Cette histoire originale emmènera nos deux irréductibles Gaulois sur des terres encore jamais explorées : cap vers la Chine !”, confiait alors la maison d’édition Albert René.

Max Verstappen has described contact with the Ferraris at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix as “ridiculous”, and says Kimi Raikkonen is just “moaning”.

Raikkonen was angered by Verstappen’s defensive driving at Les Combes, with the Red Bull driver forcing the Ferrari wide on lap 12 and then shutting the door on the Kemmel Straight a lap later. Verstappen says he was defending robustly after contact with the Ferraris at Turn 1, when Sebastian Vettel turned in and hit Raikkonen who had the 18-year-old on his inside.

“Yeah of course the start wasn’t great but from there I dived up the inside, I didn’t lock a wheel so I was easily making the corner but they just kept squeezing me,” Verstappen said. “At one point I was on the inside, Kimi was again squeezing me and Sebastian just turned in on both of us. That took my front wing, I had a lot of damage and also the floor got destroyed so from there on your race is gone.

“Definitely [Vettel should have left room], I mean he knows that he’s on the outside and suddenly he just turns into the corner where there are two other cars, so I think that’s pretty logical.”

Asked for his thoughts on Raikkonen’s comments later in the race that Verstappen just wants to drive him off the road, the Dutchman replied: “Ah he should say that at Turn 1… I mean, it’s ridiculous.

“It’s good television if somebody is moaning. Especially after Turn 1 when they do something to you like that, I’m not going to give up my position to them that easy afterwards.”

Asked if he believes he might be being too aggressive, Verstappen said: “To be honest I think that’s a big lie.

“I’m just defending my position and if somebody doesn’t like it it’s his own problem.”

After nearly two weeks of mayhem, the flood situation across western and southern India has shown signs of improving as the intensity of the rains have reduced.

Maharashtra, one of the worst affected states is on the way of recovery post the deluge which devastated Sangli and Kolhapur districts.

According to the Maharashtra Government estimate, the state has suffered losses of Rs 6813.93 crore in the floods. This includes some 1.39 lakh houses that have been damaged. A total of 43 people have lost their lives in the state in flood-related mishaps.

Esteban Gutierrez has told Lewis Hamilton to “respect all of the competitors” after a hand gesture from the championship leader during the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Hamilton was held up by Gutierrez late in the race, allowing team-mate Nico Rosberg to close in as the pair were lapping the Haas. As Hamilton passed Gutierrez on the pit straight, he appeared to raise his middle finger at Gutierrez, who was hit with a five-second time penalty for ignoring blue flags.

While Gutierrez admitted he hadn’t seen the gesture at the time, when it was put to him it appeared Hamilton raised his middle finger the Mexican replied: “Oh yeah? Not a very respectful move from him I have to say.

“I have spoken to him in the past, I think he is respectful he is the world champion, but he shouldn’t do these kinds of things he should respect all of the competitors, you never know, maybe in the future I will be fighting a championship with him so he has to respect that.”

Gutierrez also later tweeted Hamilton along similar lines, and said he didn’t feel he held the race leader up unfairly.

“I didn’t ignore them! I simply had two aeroplanes coming from behind, coming very quickly! Of course I was focussed on my race and they came very quickly and I was trying to find the safest place to let them by.

“My intention was to do it in the safest place, of course I was aware of the blue flags, but I was really making the safest place to let them by.”

When asked about the incident, Hamilton denied he had raised his middle finger, saying: “I may have accidentally wanted to do that!

“I didn’t, it was just like [motions a frustrated wave].”

The Supreme Court has ruled that a candidate who applied for general category cannot claim the seat reserved for disabled candidates later.

Dismissing a Rajasthan HC order, Justice A.S. Bopanna said: “…employment opportunities to the differently-abled persons are to be provided as a matter of right when a case is made out and there is no need for sympathetic consideration”.
