A huge stipulation has officially been added to the SummerSlam main event. As you may know by now, the Universal Championship will be up for grabs in a Fatal 4-Way match. The match will see Brock Lesnar defend the title against Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman. Lesnar and Paul Heyman both appeared on this week’s Raw and informed Kurt Angle that, should Lesnar lose the title during the match, both Brock and Heyman will be leaving WWE. Seeing as how Lesnar is rumored to leaving WWE soon for a UFC comeback, this move was surely done to add more intrigue to the match, as well as make fans believe that Lesnar could definitely lose the match.
It’s been relatively quite lately when it comes to discussing the next career move for CM Punk. Some fans have been clamoring for Punk to make a return to wrestling at some point, with even Raw General Manager Kurt Angle and ROH COO Joe Koff both suggesting that Punk should come back. Despite this, CM Punk has not done much of anything ever since losing his debut MMA match against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 last year. He appeared on MTV’s The Challenge, but Punk has not yet announced what the next move in his fighting career will be. It appears that we may now have an update on what Punk will be doing in the future.
CM Punk’s trainer Duke Roufus has let new information get out on Punk’s next big fight on Instagram. He posted an image of a record sheet involving performers in both UFC and Bellator MMA, and the sheet clearly seems to suggest that Punk might have another MMA fight lined up for sometime in the future. Roufus did not mention who Punk’s opponent might be, so it is wise to remain skeptical towards Punk’s MMA career for now. UFC and Dana White have both publicly stated that they have no plans to use Punk and that another fight is “probably not going to happen,” but he does still remain under contract to UFC at the moment.

Earlier this year, WWE held the United Kingdom Championship Tournament over in England. The brief tournament introduced WWE audiences to a ton of great UK performers that most fans had never seen before. The finals of the tournament saw Tyler Bate defeat “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne to become the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion. A few months later at NXT Takeover: Chicago, Dunne faced Bate in a rematch, and he managed to successfully capture the title at the event. The latter match involving Dunne and Bate has been cited by many fans (as well as WWE.com) as the best match in WWE this year so far.
Unfortunately, no United Kingdom Championship defenses have been made on WWE television ever since Dunne won the title. It was also reported a while back that WWE was looking to potentially cancel their planned UK Championship weekly series as a result of budget cuts that the company has been making all summer. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter now states that the plans are definitely on hold at the moment, but the idea is not officially dead. They also claim that WWE is planning on bringing Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Mark Andrews, and Wolfgang over to the United States very soon. The exact reason why has not been revealed as of yet.
These UK talents could be coming in to wrestle on the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III show or the NXT tapings that take place after SummerSlam, but that is just speculation at this point. WWE has been trying to break into multiple countries all around the world. This is why the CWC and Mae Young Classic competitors pushed where they originated from very hard during those shows. While WWE was reportedly considering holding Asian and Latin American tournaments, those plans are likely on hold along with their UK expansion project. WWE has been keeping their UK partners ICW & PROGRESS busy by sending in stars such as Noam Dar and Jack Gallagher to wrestle for them.

Drew McIntyre recently had an interview with Sporting News ahead of this weekend’s NXT Title match with Bobby Roode at NXT Brooklyn III. Here are the highlights:
His match against Bobby Rhoode at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III:
“This is what, pretty much, my entire career has led to. So, no pressure. The 17 years, the 10 years of being in America, the past three years of building my brand and my return back home. It’s the biggest match of my life and I can say 100 percent I am ready for this. I’m excited to steal the show and have people talking about this match for a long time.”

Vince McMahon calling him the “Chosen One” in his first run with WWE:
“He saw something in me when I was younger that I didn’t necessarily see myself and maybe others didn’t see which is a pretty cool feeling. And finally, years later, after all the things I’ve been through and growing up, I think, finally, now it’s starting to materialize and everyone is starting to see what he saw back in the day. He had that kind of faith in me and saw something in me that he was willing to endorse me in that way and perhaps it just took a minute and took a few life experiences to actually bring out what he saw.”
Getting called by Triple H to come to NXT:
“After I got off the phone with him, one, I was very honored that he wanted me to be part of his baby in NXT and two, my mind was made up. I knew I had to be in NXT. I knew that was the next step for me and my family. And walking in the door, seeing all the faces that I knew and faces that I didn’t know that I wanted to work with, I thought, wow, this is going to be something. We have something special here, and we really do.”

One of the more surprising finishes that occurred at SummerSlam was when The Usos managed to regain the Smackdown Tag Team Championships from The New Day. The New Day’s title reign was very short, but that may actually have been by design. The team broke the record of the longest tag title reign in WWE history last year, and now it appears that they are set to break another record. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE wants The New Day to break the record of most tag team title reigns in history. The current record is held by The Dudley Boyz at 10 reigns, but The New Day currently only has three title reigns.
As we all saw on NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, Drew McIntyre won the NXT Championship from Bobby Roode in the main event before he was attacked by Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and the debuting Adam Cole. Fish and O’Reilly had made their debuts in NXT as singles stars before reforming as a team this past Saturday night. As far as why Fish and O’Reilly are going to be working with Adam Cole, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter helped provide an explanation. Drew McIntyre is actually much taller than Cole is, therefore the company decided to put Cole in a group in order to create a stronger heel team that would be more difficult for McIntyre to overcome.
It was recently reported that Low-Ki had been released from Global Force Wrestling, however, it now appears that he has not been granted his release yet. PWInsider now claims that rumors of financial disputes are not why Low-Ki decided to ask for his release, but rather his reason has to do with how he’s being used creatively. He seems himself as a main eventer, but the promotion wanted him to be the main star of their X-Division. Low-Ki technically still remains employed by the company and his current deal expires in October of this year. He made his return to the Impact television only four months ago.

Mae Young Classic tournament participant Piper Niven, also known as Viper, spoke with Metro about the tournament, how she views things, and what does she do with her time off, here are some highlights:
Hi, Piper, you’re in Japan at the moment – what do you like to do to relax when you’re not wrestling there?
My favorite thing to do over here is to go to Disneyland, it’s the best! I’m a massive Disney fan so to have it around the corner is great!

How did you get approached to be involved in the Mae Young Classic?
I was part of the World of Sport revival they were doing with ITV, and when that was all coming about I’d heard rumors that there was going to be a women’s tournament in WWE and that it was going to feature a lot of girls from the independent scene. Nobody had any idea when it would be, so I went ahead with World of Sport. Not too long after that, I heard about the Mae Young Classic and I thought I’d missed my chance.I was devastated after World of Sport didn’t happen at that time because I wasn’t getting to do that, and I also thought I’d missed my chance to be part of the Mae Young Classic. It was a real low, but luckily WWE got in touch and asked if I’d interested in doing it. That was delightful when that happened.
Did the tournament live up to expectation?
Oh, and more! It’s been a labor of love for so many people, and the standard has been so high. It’s going to blow everyone away. There was a few moments when I had to take a couple of seconds and look around and realize where I was and everything I’d done to get to that moment. But then at the same time this was where the real work started.

How great was it that you got to experience the Mae Young Classic with your friend Kay Lee Ray?
It was really fantastic, we’ve done so much together and we always said throughout the entire journey that it was great to share it. Some people can think there is a lot of rivalry in wrestling, but I don’t feel anything like that at all. We just feel a sense of pride for each other when we’re doing well, and it spurs us on to help each other.
Was there anybody in the tournament you really enjoyed watching?

All of the women were amazing, they were all so good at what they do. One of my absolute favorites is Toni Storm. She’s an absolute rock star. She’s just the coolest, and has the personality where she does what she wants and looks so cool doing it. And she has all the skills to back it up at the same time. She’s a complete bad-ass.

On a fenced off patch of muddy ground in central Potsdam, they are rebuilding a piece of German history. It’s easy to miss the spot: for now it’s just another construction site.

But next year one of the most iconic churches in German history will rise again here, more than 70 years after it was bombed to ruins in the Second World War.

The Garrison Church was the parish church of the Kaisers and Kings of Prussia. Bach came here to play the organ. Frederick the Great was buried in the crypt, and those who travelled across Europe to see his tomb included Napoleon and Tsar Alexander I of Russia.

It was also, notoriously, where the victorious Adolf Hitler shook hands with President Paul von Hindenburg…

Bone-chilling cold gripped much of the central US as 2018 arrived, breaking century-old records, icing over some New Year’s celebrations and leading to at least two deaths attributed to exposure to the elements.

The National Weather Service issued wind chill advisories covering a vast area from South Texas to Canada and from Montana and Wyoming through New England. Dangerously low temperatures enveloped much of the Midwest, yet didn’t deter hundreds of people from ringing in the new year by jumping into Lake Michigan.

Despite sub-freezing temperatures and a warning of potential hypothermia from the local fire chief, throngs of people took part in the annual tradition in Milwaukee, warming up later with chili or heat from a beach fire pit.

A similar event was canceled from the Chicago lakefront, where the temperature dipped below zero as thick white steam rose from the lake Monday morning. Organizers said the arctic blast made jumping into the lake too dangerous.

"I’m not happy about it. But I was down by the lake and, gosh, if you were dropped in there, it’d take you 10 minutes to get out," Jeff Coggins, who helped organise the thwarted Chicago event, told WBBM-TV.

Instead, would-be Chicago plungers had their pictures taken while jumping on the frozen beach — in their swimsuits.

Temperatures plunged below zero elsewhere in the Midwest, including in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where the mercury dropped to a record-breaking -36C. The previous New Year’s Day record had stood for 99 years.

In Nebraska, temperatures hit -26C before midnight Sunday in Omaha, breaking a record low dating to 1884. Omaha officials cited the forecast in postponing the 18th annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular that draws around 30,000 people.

It was colder in Des Moines, where city officials closed a downtown outdoor ice skating plaza and said it wouldn’t reopen until the city emerged from sub-zero temperatures. The temperature hit -29C early Monday, with the wind chill dipping to -35C.

In northeastern Montana, the wind chill readings dipped as low as minus -50C. And in Duluth, Minnesota, a city known for its bitter cold winters, the wind chill dipped to -38C.

Plunging overnight temperatures in Texas brought rare snow flurries as far south as Austin, and accidents racked up on icy roads across the state. In the central Texas city of Abilene, the local police chief said more than three dozen vehicle crashes were reported in 24 hours.

It’s even cold in the Deep South, a region more accustomed to brief bursts of arctic air than night after night below zero. Frozen pipes and dead car batteries were concerns from Louisiana to Georgia as overnight temperatures in the teens were predicted across the region by Monday night.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s office said two bodies found Sunday showed signs of hypothermia. They included a man in his 50s found on the ground in an alley and a 34-year-old man. Police believe the cold weather also may have been a factor in the death of a man in Bismarck, North Dakota, whose body was found near a river.

Donald Trump has criticised America’s "broken" court system after he was blocked from deporting illegal migrants brought to the country while children.

The US president’s decision to rescind protections implemented by his predecessor Barack Obama was overruled by a federal judge in California.

Around 800,000 “dreamer” migrants smuggled into the United States when children were due to be stripped of their right to work legally on March 5.

Mr Obama had granted the protections in 2012 through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which is known as DACA.

Last September, Mr Trump, who adopted a hard line on immigration during his election campaign, dubbed the move unconstitutional and announced he would end the program.

However Judge William Alsup of Federal District Court in San Francisco ruled on Tuesday that the administration must “maintain the DACA program on a nationwide basis” while a legal challenge progresses.

Mr Trump criticised the decisions, tweeting that “it just shows everyone how broken and unfair our Court System is” and predicting the ruling would be overturned in higher courts.

The row came as congressmen from both political parties attempted to agree a new immigration bill that would create a permanent solution for the “dreamer” migrants, as they have been dubbed.

Democrats are pushing for permanent protections while Mr Trump and Republicans want money for a Mexico border wall and tighter immigration rules in return.

Mr Trump, whose position on “dreamers” has meandered since taking office, appeared open to protecting them in a cross-party meeting in the White House on Tuesday that was televised.

The president said he wanted a “bill of love” – referring to the immigration legislation – and indicated he was willing to “take the heat” from those who want to deport illegal migrants.

Devin M. O’Malley, the Justice Department’s spokesman, said the ruling did not change the department’s stance.

“DACA was implemented unilaterally after Congress declined to extend these benefits to this same group of illegal aliens,” he said.

“As such, it was an unlawful circumvention of Congress, and was susceptible to the same legal challenges that effectively ended DACA.

"The Department of Homeland Security therefore acted within its lawful authority in deciding to wind down DACA in an orderly manner. "Promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens.”
