Vettel in ‘no rush’ to decide 2021 plans

July 31, 2020 | News | No Comments

Sebastian Vettel was unable to offer his fans any insight on his future F1 plans on Thursday at Silverstone, the German insisting he would take his time to make the “right” call for himself.

Vettel will depart Ferrari at the end of the 2020 season and is believed to be mulling an offer from Racing Point for 2021, or Aston Martin Racing as it will be called next year.

Queried by the media on his future plans ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix, the four-time world champion said he had no update to offer.

“I would give you an answer if I really knew, but at the moment I don’t and I think it’s probably realistic to be patient and wait a little bit,” he told reporters.

“That could be a couple of weeks, that could be longer than that. Time will tell. Nothing has changed to what I mentioned in the last three weeks or prior three races.

Brundle: Verstappen could start cogitating move to Mercedes

“I’m not in a rush, I want to make sure that I make the right decision for myself and then take it from there.

“I have made it clear, given the right package, I have a lot more to give… It depends on what the options are.”

Vettel’s realistic options for 2021 appear to be split between a move to Racing Point or a year on the sidelines. The 33-year-old stressed the importance of reaching the right decision for himself, which is why is intends on taking his time.

“The fact that I have been around for a long time helps as I know a lot of people,” hel said.

“But I think the most important thing for me is that whatever the decision will be it will be the right one for me.

“You can never be 100% certain as only time will tell, but I think as much as I can I would like to control and make sure that the conclusion for me is the right decision.

“I never believe that good things are to be rushed and so things will take time. I cannot give a specific answer on when, as much as I cannot give a specific answer to what.

“But obviously what is at stake is remaining in F1 or not and as I said on that time will tell. It is a new situation and I don’t think in terms of negotiations skills I need to pull tricks out of my sleeve.

“It is true that it is a new situation and a new challenge, because it is probably a decision about remaining or doing something different.”

It was a sad day for the WWE universe when they woke up to the news of the demise of Bobby Heenan. The WWE Hall of Famer, manager and commentator was full of life. He was diagnosed with throat cancer back in 2002 and since then he has been battling with the killer disease until he tapped out on 17th September, 2017. He was 73 years of age and has become a WWE icon managing big names such as Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, and Andre The Giant, among others. In his life at the then WWF and WWE, he has left some unforgettable moment
The famous WWE Hall of Fame speech
After a great career at WWE he was finally a Hall of Fame inductee. He was inducted in 2004 and wasted no time to give the audience his piece of mind. In his speech he mentioned some of the big names he worked with in the WWE and gave his appreciation to the WWE universe and company. The good thing was he stole the spotlight as most big names were already inducted at the time.

The 1992 Royal Rumble
It was the battle royal and with every superstar looking to bag the gold, it was every man for himself. The title was on the line, and Ric Flair, Heenan’s prodigy, was number 3 to enter the ring. He did not disappoint as his commentary was point on as he hailed praises to Ric Flair. In the end, Flair won and became a big star until his retirement as a 16 times World Heavyweight Champion. The break-up of the Rockers
The Rockers made up Shawn Michaels and Jannetty. With the Weasel, Heenan, coming in, the Rockers broke up. He planned all the backstabbing by inciting Michaels to superkick Jannetty and that is how the Shawn Michaels, the showstopper, was made big as a single competitor.  Get free and live WWE betting tips 2017 for all the upcoming pay per views and Smackdown. When Andre the Giant went Heel on Hogan
The best part that Heenan portrayed was the heel part. He knew exactly what to do or say even without a script. When he took over to manage Andre The Giant, he executed that well. Andre at the time was with Hulk Hogan and thus played second best to Hogan. However, Heenan being The Brain he is, he changed all that. That is when Andre went heel on Hogan which resulted to one of the greatest matches of all times between Hogan and the Giant.

Here is a blast from the past. Former WWF Intercontinental Champion Ahmed Johnson appeared on the Unsanctioned podcast recently to talk about numerous topics. Here are the highlights:
On his backstage scuffle with The Rock:
“What happened was, he was back in the locker room and I was already back there on the other side of the lockers, so, he couldn’t see me. And he walked in there with Triple H and Shawn, and they were all talking and they were making black jokes, and they didn’t know I was there. When Triple H said, ‘Man, we were joking Rocky, we were joking,’ and Rock said, ‘That’s okay, people look at me and think I’m black. I’m not black, man. My dad had an affair on my dad with a white man. That’s my dad. The white guy is my dad.’ He was serious as a heart attack. So I stepped from around the locker and said, ‘What you just say?’ He said, ‘Aw, aw, nothing, man, you know just here bulls–tting,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I heard you over there selling that bulls–t, man. What did you say about your dad? You mean to tell me this man bust his ass for us to be in this federation, and you’re denying him?’ Then he got cocky and said, ‘Man, this ain’t none of your business’ Once he said that, we went for blows. After that, Ron Simmons and Papa Shango broke it up.”

On Teddy Long recently calling him an “idiot”:
“That b—h. First of all, I don’t even know this punk motherf–ker. Ain’t never met him once in my life. Never. Never ever been in the same room with this fool. And I’ll tell you right now, straight up, if I ever see him cause he’s got himself going around with churches and being a Christian, I swear to God if he ever comes to Houston, I’m giving you my word, I’m going to that church where it is he is, and I’m gonna go to him and I’m gonna slap him in the f–king face. And I mean that with all my heart. He’s going to be more elderly when I get done with him.”
On The New Day:
“Now come on, don’t one of them got a doctorate degree or something? Come on, man. But he [Vince] got you acting like a clown on a clown car. I think it is shucking and jiving for him. I just think that especially homeboy with that degree [Xavier Woods], they can find something better for him. He could be like a Clarence Mason, like a black wrestling Clarence Mason.”

On whether he would welcome closure with Vince McMahon:
“As a man, I would want closure with any man. If could make closure with any man, I would want that. As a man and as a Christian, I would want that. But as far as me kissing your behind, forget it. Naw. That ain’t even gonna happen.”

She was America’s Olympic sweetheart – a bubbly and ferociously talented athlete who brought home four gold medals from Rio, leading many to consider her the country’s greatest ever gymnast.

Yet on Monday Simone Biles, 20, made the bombshell accusation that she too had been sexually abused by former Team USA gymnastics sports doctor Larry Nassar.

Nassar, currently serving a 60-year jail sentence for having child sex abuse images on his computer, will on Tuesday face some of the 140 women who accuse him of abuse, as his sentencing begins in a Michigan courtroom. In what is expected to be a week-long court session, 88 of the women and girls who say Nassar sexually abused them are scheduled to give victim-impact statements.

And on the eve of sentencing, Biles published on Twitter a devastating account of the abuse she suffered, revealing for the first time that she – like her team mate Gabby Douglas, who won gold with Biles in the team event in Rio – was a victim of Nassar.

"I too am one of the many survivors that was sexually abused by Larry Nassar," wrote Biles.

Simone Biles in action in Rio

"Most of you know me as a happy, giggly and energetic girl. But lately I’ve felt broken and the more I try to shut off the voice in my head the louder it screams. I am not afraid to tell my story any more.

"For too long I have asked myself, ‘Was I too naive? Was it my fault?’ I now know the answers to those questions. No. No, it was not my fault. No, I will not and should not carry the guilt that belongs to Larry Nassar, USAG [USA Gymnastics], and others."

Ohio-born Biles had captivated America with her story of triumph over adversity.

Abandoned by her father and neglected by her drug-addict mother, she was raised by her grandparents, who noticed her gymnastic showmanship at an early age.  Her precocious talent saw her catapult to stardom: companies including Nike, Hershey’s, Kellogg’s and United Airlines all signed her up to advertise their products. Next month a biopic of her life will air on US channel Lifetime.

And her accusations will fuel the fire engulfing USAG.

The organisation has been strongly criticised by some its biggest stars, including Olympians Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney, who say that after they told a private investigator about their sessions with Nassar, the organization tried to keep them quiet.

“@USAGym STOP VICTIM SHAMING. Your statements are hurtful,” tweeted Raisman last week.

“If you did not believe that I & others were abused than why pressure & manipulate us? WE WERE MOLESTED BY A MONSTER U ENABLED 2 THRIVE FOR DECADES. You are 100% responsible. It was mandatory to get "treatment" by Nassar.”

The group’s president, Steve Penny, was forced out last year because of the handling of the Nassar allegations and other sexual abuse cases, but some have demanded a complete housecleaning of leadership. USA Gymnastics has beefed up its protocols for handling misconduct complaints.

In a statement issued in November, USA Gymnastics said it was “appalled by the conduct of which Larry Nassar is accused,” and “very sorry that any athlete has been harmed during her or his gymnastics career.”

The organisation said it was hiring a new president and chief executive officer “who emphasizes empowerment throughout the organization” as well adopting a Safe Sport Policy to strengthen “policies that include mandatory reporting.”

Biles’ statement follows similar disclosures from three members of the 2012 "Fierce Five" team —Maroney, Raisman and Douglas.

They are not expected to be at Nassar’s sentencing, but 2000 Olympian Jamie Dantzscher will testify at the marathon hearing.

"What people need to understand is these aren’t just anonymous people," said Rachael Denhollander, the first woman to publicly accuse Nassar in the summer of 2016.

"These were real little girls, some of them as young as six years old.

"These were real young women who are suffering devastating consequences now and this could have been avoided."
