1 on 3 No DQ Handicap Match

Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler defeated Braun Strowman. Strowman was pinned by all of his opponents after the ZigZag/Claymore Kick combination.

After the match: Strowman destroyed the heels and left the ring. Corbin restarted the match once again so Strowman gets counted out. That didn’t work as Strowman made it back to the ring.

12th Match

DQ Handicap Match

Braun Strowman pinned Corbin after his running powerslam.

The backstage incident on RAW this past week where Braun Strowman kicked the door of a bathroom stall while looking for Baron Corbin was reportedly a scene “written for one” – that being Vince McMahon, who seems to still get a kick out of bathroom stuff. The man who was found in the bathroom by Strowman is one of WWE’s writers, Ryan Ward.

One of the ideas being discussed is for Becky Lynch to go over Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series due to interference from both Nia Jax & Tamina.

Drew McIntyre’s brief stare-down with Bobby Lashley was intended as foreshadowing at an eventual face turn and a likely program with Lashley once that happens.

Lucha Underground Announcer Melissa Santos recently spoke with Women’s Wrestling Weekly about working alongside her fiancé (Brian Cage), training for a fight scene in Lucha Underground and working with IMPACT Wrestling. Below are the highlights from the interview:
On her fight scene in Lucha Underground: “We got the sign off and did some training for it, with the stunt guy and we just did it and it was cool. It was so cool. I had so much fun; I loved watching it. We basically fought all over the temple, it was really neat. I got to go through glass which by the way is sugar, guys. But it really cuts you.”

On what she hopes will happen in the next season of Lucha Underground: “I would love to have something with me and Brian [Cage]. Like couples are hot in wrestling. You know the thing is when we started dating, I had already started the whole thing with Fenix and it became a popular thing. So people enjoyed watching it. I feel like they’re working that angle. I respect that. That is the creative process and somethings just have to be worked out. But hopefully in the future something can like happen.”
On working with IMPACT Wrestling: “It looks like I’ll be doing some stuff with Impact. I’m super excited. It hasn’t been officially announced. We just need to figure things out, especially since everyone is crossing over back and forth. I would love to ring announce.”

Dennis Stamp, best known to modern fans for his role in the movie “Beyond the Mat,” passed away today at the age of 68.

Stamp had been suffering from cancer.

Stamp was an amateur wrestling star in both high school and college in Minnesota and broke in under Verne Gagne and was named the 1971 AWA Rookie of the Year.

He worked a number of territories through the 70s, and was best known in West Texas, where the promotion favored legitimate wrestlers. He also had a good run in California. His full-time career ended with the death of the Amarillo territory, but he worked through the 80s as an enhancement talent on both WWF and AWA television shows.

He retired and worked at a pest control company. He was first diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and was not given a good prognosis. But he defeated the cancer, which came back in September.

In the movie “Beyond the Mat,” Stamp was shown talking with Terry Funk, hoping to be booked on the show with Funk’s so-called 1997 retirement match in Amarillo against Bret Hart, who was then the WWF champion. He was mad about not being booked, even though he hadn’t wrestled in years. Eventually he was booked as the referee of the match. He gained some cult popularity from that movie with the phrase “I’m not booked” and the shots of him training in case he gets called for a match, even though he hadn’t wrestled in years.

Stamp was a solid worker who held titles in a number of promotions during the 70s.

WRESTLING OBSERVER NEWSLETTER: April 3, 2017: Massive Wrestlemania weekend preview, plus tons of news

With WrestleMania coming up on 4/2 in Orlando as part of the biggest weekend of pro wrestling events, as far as pure volume goes, ever in the U.S., this year, more than any other, it has been the name more than the combination of the parts.

There really isn’t the one giant main event, or two, like most years have. Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg was counted on as the main event dating back to when the program was first put together late last year. It’s not like the angle is cold because it’s not. Goldberg’s interviews have been stronger than anyone could have expected, and his impact and popularity hasn’t seemed to fizzle. Sure, his winning the title from Kevin Owens was sure to draw a few boos. But in Philadelphia, a city where if people were going to turn on him, that would be the place, while mentions of him to the live crowd drew boos, when he actually came out, it was the loudest chants of the night…

WON BACK ISSUE: March 6, 2000: WWF No Way Out review, Mick Foley retires, more

Unlike most other wrestlers of similar fame, to do a career retrospective on Mick Foley is best saved for an examination probably years down the road. He was the classic overachiever, who defied all the odds, and was possibly the single greatest influence inside the ring on styles changing in the business of the past ten years. In a career destined, because he wasn’t that great athletically and didn’t have what was believed to be the right look and physique, for being mid-card for life, he ended up when his career came to a close, as one of the five biggest stars in North America, and even as a best-selling author…

FIGURE FOUR WEEKLY: 5/8/2017: Thinking outside the long talking segment

While it wasn’t entirely revolutionary, the two-part “Who is Roderick Strong?” series that aired on NXT television over the past couple of weeks again proved how effective WWE’s video profiles can be in getting characters over. Similar videos have aired in the past (with a series that focused on Finn Balor in NXT standing out as a highlight), but the profiles on Strong may have been the best that WWE has ever done. They made him feel like a fully formed character in a way that he never really has before.

WON BACK ISSUE: April 17, 2000: Mike Awesome jumps ship to WCW, Russo/Bischoff era of Nitro begins, more

At press time, exactly what is going on between WCW and ECW regarding current ECW heavyweight champion Mike Awesome is apparently up in the air. In a strange series of circumstances, it appeared that Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo, in their attempt to re-create the debuting impact of Nitro in 1995 with Lex Luger’s surprising walking on the set, combined with the incident where Madusa threw the WWF womens title belt in the garbage can, since they were unable to secure any WWF talent, made a huge pitch to garner ECW’s heavyweight champion.

FIGURE FOUR WEEKLY: 5/22/2017: Jinder Mahal is actually WWE Champion

Even after having over a month to prepare for the possibility, it’s hard to believe that Jinder Mahal is actually WWE Champion.
