The eldest of 13 siblings found in filthy conditions in a California house was often bullied for smelling and wearing dirty clothes, a former classmate has revealed.

The family home of Louise and David Turpin was dubbed as a ‘House of Horrors’ after their children were discovered chained to furniture and left to sit in their own feces.

A number of the Turpin children were home schooled but it has emerged the eldest child, now 29, attended Meadowcreek Elementary School in Fort Worth, Texas.

Her classmate, Taha Muntajibuddin, revealed that she was cruelly tormented by her classmates, who were all unaware of the filthy conditions in which the Turpin children were forced to live.

In a Facebook post, Mr Muntajibuddin, said he felt an "overwhelming sense of guilt and shame" at the bullying she experienced at the hands of her peers.

He described the girl as "frail" with "pin-straight" hair who was mocked for often wearing the same purple outfit.

The Turpin’s eldest child, now a 29-year-old woman, was found living in squalid conditions and weighing just 5.8 stone after her 17-year-old sister escaped and called police.

Mr Muntajibuddin said reading coverage of the Turpin home provided a "rude awakening".

"You can’t help but feel rotten when the classmate your peers made fun of for ‘smelling like poop’ quite literally had to sit in her own waste because she was chained to her bed," he wrote.

"It is nothing but sobering to know that the person who sat across from you at the lunch table went home to squalor and filth while you went home to a warm meal and a bedtime story."

Mr Turpin, 56, and Mrs Turpin, 49, who moved to California in 2010, have pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of torture, child abuse, dependent adult abuse and false imprisonment.

All thirteen children and adults, who are believed to have suffered mental impairments from extended malnutrition, have been taken into the care of state authorities.

But it has emerged that the Turpin offspring – who range in age from 2 to 29 – will not live together again, despite pleading with the authorities to stay as a family.

The six children have been told that they will be split up into two foster homes while the seven adults will be sent to an assisted living facility, according to CBS News.

With the rumored departures of WWE Superstars such as Neville and Nia Jax from the company, reports have begun to surface suggesting that several other Superstars are considering leaving as well. One report suggested that a number of Superstars went as far as asking Cody Rhodes for advice on leaving the company, as he departed last year and has seen a tremendous amount of success ever since.
Dave Meltzer recently addressed this on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and claimed that these reports are way overblown:

“The speculation and rumors going around about a mass exodus are way overblown.”

He did not that there are some Superstars who are planning on exploring other options when their contracts run out, but that number is only a few. Meltzer threw in that unless you are young and single, many Superstars won’t take the chance of departing for the indies.

Finn Balor spoke recently with the In This Corner podcast for CBS Sports. In it, he discusses many different topics. Here are some highlights:
His Quick Rise on the WWE Main Roster:
“I feel like, in this society, we really never get an opportunity to sit back and take stock into what we have achieved,” he said. “For 16 years, I was running at 100 miles per hour by being all over Europe, Japan, coming to NXT, and not even taking a breath by going to the main roster, beating Roman Reigns on my first night and won the title two weeks later against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam on my first pay per view. It was such a whirlwind, I never had the opportunity to sit back and say to myself that I am really doing it.”
His Time Off For Injury & Reflecting on His Journey:
“I think that time off was the first standard break that I had in pro wrestling in a very long time, and not only did it help me take stock of where I was at and what I was doing but also to reflect on the journey that I had,” he said. “I always felt like I didn’t belong; for the longest time I felt like somebody is going to catch me as I snuck in through the back door; whether it’d be New Japan or NXT, but having that time off and reflecting on the journey that I was on, and then I realized that I do belong in WWE and do belong to be on the top. It gave me that confidence and self-belief that I can perform in any situation.”

On Learning to Stop Setting Limitations on Himself:
“We all struggle with our own limitations,” he said. “We can say we believe in ourselves and we can say that we think we can do it, and I do believe in myself and believed that I can always do it, but there is always that thing that is lingering there. For the longest time, I kind of struggled with keeping that in check; having gone through what I went through at SummerSlam and taking me to the next level, it gave me the confidence in myself and that has been the key factor in what has changed since I debuted on Raw. Now, I really believe in myself. I mean, I always believed in myself; I wouldn’t have gone through my first match if I didn’t believe it, but there’s always those lingering doubts in everyone’s mind where you question yourself a lot more than other people would.”

No. 2 Gophers Tame Wildcats, 26-12; Nelson loses to McMullan

MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 2 University of Minnesota Golden Gopher wrestling team resumed Big Ten competition with a victory over No. 16 Northwestern on Friday evening. The Golden Gophers improve to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers were able to win six of the ten bouts on the evening while claiming two decisions, two major decisions and two falls on the evening.

Minnesota started the the dual with a loss at 125 pounds as Jordan Kingsley made his dual debut on the season. Following the loss, Minnesota was able to pick up four victories before Danny Zilverberg was defeated by Northwestern’s Pierce Harger. The Gophers would then drop the next bout as Alec Ortiz stepped in for No. 5 Logan Storley.

Kevin Steinhaus continued his dual success as he was able to win by major decision over Jacob Berkowitz. No. 1 Scott Schiller continued his undefeated season with a pin over Alex Polizzi. Schiller’s record improves to 19-0 on the season.

The most noteworthy moment of the evening came as No. 1 Tony Nelson battled No. 8 Mike McMullan in a rematch of the Big Ten Championship and NCAA Championship from a year ago. Nelson trailed 1-0 going into the third period but was able to grab a point on an escape to tie the score at 1-1 at the end of three. In the first overtime, McMullan was able to takedown Nelson for the sudden victory win. The loss breaks Nelson’s undefeated season streak.

Despite the loss, the Gophers were able to tame the Wildcats and come away with a dual victory.

Minnesota will return to their home mat on Sunday, Jan. 12 to host border rival Wisconsin at 1 p.m. at the Sports Pavilion.

The Rock is one of the most legendary WWE Superstars of all time and he is currently one of the biggest movie stars in the entire world today. The Rock comes from an enormous family of professional wrestlers, so perhaps it’s no surprise that his daughter wants to follow in her father’s footsteps. Simone Garcia Johnson recently did an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, and she revealed that she is interested in working for WWE one day. “The Great One’s” daughter becoming a professional wrestler would make her a fourth generation wrestler. When asked about wrestling, Simone said in the interview, “It’s a sport that is unlike anything else in the world. There’s just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that’s so admirable. It’s definitely something I’ve thought about and want to pursue.”
It was confirmed that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were both sent home from WWE’s European tour after last week’s Smackdown show. Tons of rumors and speculation on the issue were reported, but Dave Meltzer provided an update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The report claims that Zayn and Owens did go off the script last week when they did not receive a beating from the New Day. Owens and Zayn were yelled at backstage and were then sent home. For this reason, there does appear to be some legitimacy to Owens’ recent feud on Twitter with Randy Orton. Owens and Zayn did return on Smackdown this week though and they are now back on the road with WWE.
Whenever a new season of the Total Divas reality show is announced for the E! network, fans are eager to know which female superstars will be joining the cast. The newest season features the likes of Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, and Carmella all joining the series. During an interview with Bleacher Report, Smackdown’s Becky Lynch shot down the possibility of herself joining the reality series at some point. Lynch does not believe she would be a great fit for the show and she also wants to retain some privacy for when she is not in the ring. “It’s a great opportunity for the women. But I never envisioned myself in that role. And there’s a certain mystique about myself that I’d like to keep. I don’t want to give out too much of Rebecca Quinn.” Lynch said.

Pro-Russian incumbent Milos Zeman was re-elected Czech president on Saturday, narrowly outpacing his pro-European liberal rival Jiri Drahos in a tight run-off that underscored deep divisions in the European Union.

The president edged to a narrow victory over Mr Drahos, his only rival, in a run-off poll following a first round of voting a fortnight earlier, with 51.5 per cent.

His victory came as blow to Czechs hoping their country would take a more pro-Europe line. The urbane Mr Drahos, a chemistry professor five years younger than 73-year-old president, had called for closer ties with the EU.

Conceding defeat Mr Drahos said he “had not won but also had not lost” and vowed to remain in public life.

A Zeman second term could well rub grit into his country’s relations with the EU. Although the powers of the Czech president are limited Mr Zeman has drawn attention to himself and his country by being a vocal Eurosceptic with strong pro-Russia views.

He has also been a steadfast opponent of Muslim immigration to Europe and the Czech Republic.

His victory will also strengthen the hand of Poland and Hungary. The two Central European countries, both with populist and nationalistic governments, have been strongly opposed to closer EU integration and Brussels’ plan to make states accept refugee quotas.

They also face the threat of EU sanctions owing to policies considered by Brussels as a threat to democracy so will welcome the continued presence of an ally.

Mr Zeman’s record of outspoken opposition to immigration could well have helped tip the balance in his favour in the election despite his opponent also rejecting the EU quota plan.

A reputation for direct, blunt and sometimes course speaking may also have worked in the president’s favour despite many Czechs considering his language an affront to his office.

Andrej Babis, the Czech prime minister, is bound to welcome a Zeman victory. Since winning parliamentary elections in October, Mr Babis has struggled to form a government, with many opposition parties refusing to work with him owing to allegations of fraud against him.

But he has had the backing of the president so another term for Mr Zeman will give him more time to cobble together a coalition.

Hundreds of armed police are guarding the Brussels court where the trial of Salah Abdeslam, the prime Paris attacks suspect, opens on Monday following his transfer in secrecy from a prison outside the French capital.

Abdeslam, a French national of Moroccan descent, is being tried on charges of terrorism, possession of weapons and attempted murder during a shootout with police in Brussels three days before his arrest in March 2016. He will face another trial in France at a later date for his alleged role in the November 2015 Paris attacks.

During the court hearings in Brussels, expected to last four days, Abdeslam, 28, is being held at a jail in northern France near the Belgian border from where he can more easily be brought to court by helicopter or road.

The exact times of the transfers and the method of transport are to be kept secret. Hundreds of elite officers have been deployed to escort him and guard the route. Another 200 officers are posted inside the court building in case of an attempted attack. Security has also reportedly been stepped up across Brussels.

Abdeslam’s capture in Brussels after four months on the run following the slaughter of 130 people in Paris is believed to have prompted his jihadist cell to bring forward a plan for attacks in the Belgian capital. Four days after his arrest, suicide bombings killed 32 people in Brussels.

Investigators believe Abdeslam survived the Paris attacks because his suicide vest failed to detonate.

He is being tried with another jihadist suspect, Sofien Ayari, a Tunisian who was among four other people arrested with him. Ayari, 24, is also accused of shooting at police.

He was in possession of a fake Syrian passport when captured and is believed to have entered Europe with migrants via the Greek island of Leros two months before the Paris attacks.

The alleged Paris attacks mastermind, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a Belgian national shot dead in a police raid in Paris three days after the Bataclan massacre and other coordinated attacks in the French capital, is also thought to have taken the same route as he returned from Syria.
