Cageside Seats writer Cain A. Knight recently penned an article that elicited a response from Rusev over his lack of success on pay-per-view shows.
Knight pointed out that The Bulgarian Brute is now 2-18 in his 20 pay-per-view appearances. He has not won a pay-per-view match since defeating Big Cass on the preshow of Roadblock: End of the Line in 2016. His only other victory came on the main card of Battleground 2016, when he defeated Zack Ryder. Digging deeper, Rusev’s last four appearances on pay-per-view shows have all been on the preshow. He has not made a mina card in the past six months. His last main card appearance was a loss to AJ Styles in a challenge for the WWE Championship at the 2018 Extreme Rules.
Here is a rundown of his appearances (courtesy of Cageside Seats):

Battleground 2016: Rusev vs. Zack Ryder

Clash of Champions 2016: Rusev vs. Roman Reigns
Hell in a Cell 2016: Roman Reigns vs. Rusev

Crown Jewel: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev (pre-show)

Royal Rumble 2019: Rusev vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (pre-show)
This prompted a response from Rusev and an angry reply from Lana (which may or may not be kayfabe). Here are the responses from Rusev and Lana:

I was told it’s not about wins and losses https://t.co/FXzeUSnU3m

Maybe if he starts backstabbing people, speaking the truth when it hurts & becomes an opportunist like Becky Lynch became he will win next year’s Royal Rumble & main event Wrestlemania ! ?? https://t.co/nGhxabAIMK

TBILISI, Georgia – Day two of the men’s freestyle competition at the 2016 Cadet World Championships yielded similar results as day one for the U.S. with three Americans advancing to a medal match at New Sports Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Defending Cadet World champions Yianni Diakomihalis and Gable Steveson proved their mettle once more by advancing to the finals for the second-straight year in impressive fashion.

Diakomihalis cruised through his first three matches at 63 kg/138.75 lbs., scoring technical falls over Tobias Portmann of Switzerland, Daniel Markarashvili of Georgia and Ulan Tolegen of Kazakhstan. In the semifinals, the New York native was tested by Japan’s Jintaro Motoyama in a rematch of last year’s World final at 58 kg. Trailing by one point in the second period Diakomihalis executed a duck under to trapped arm gutwrench combination and pulled away for a 9-3 win. Continue reading at www.teamusa.org

Additional notes by Corey Lieb

Here are quick results from tonight’s WrestleCon SuperShow in New Orleans, Louisiana.

– Penta 0M defeated Joey Janela

Penta 0M picked up the win after a falcon arrow. There were a lot of piledriver teases throughout the match.

– Joey Ryan defeated Jerry Lawler by disqualification

Ryan came out wearing an outfit similar to Andy Kaufman and did a promo imitating him, challenging anyone to an intergender contest. His opponent was instead Jerry Lawler in a surprise. Lawler mentioned that it was 35 years ago today he piledrove Andy Kaufman at the Mid-South Coliseum and ripped on Ryan for imitating him. He also mentioned that Lawler could not piledrive him because it’s illegal in Louisiana.

Ryan told Lawler to touch his penis. He responded by throwing a fireball at Joey Ryan’s privates. Ryan ran from the ring as he was announced the winner.

– Tessa Blanchard, Tenille Dashwood, Nicole Savoy, Shazza McKenzie and Penelope Ford defeated MJF, Zane Riley, Caleb Konley, Jake Manning and Trevor Lee

This was a intergender match pitting five men against five women. The women picked up the win for their team by submitting the guys all at once.

– Tomohiro Ishii defeated Jeff Cobb

Ishii defeated Cobb after a brainbuster.

– Rey Horus and Rey Fenix defeated Bandido and Flamita

Fenix pinned Bandido with a muscle buster into a falcon to win the match. Match was said to be absolutely insane.

– The Mexicools (Super Crazy, Psicosis and Chico El Luchador) defeated Jason Cade & Matt Classic & Teddy Hart

Juventud Guerrera was also with the Mexicools at ringside. Mostly a comedy match. Super Crazy got the win for his team after rolling up Cade.

– Will Ospreay defeated Sammy Guevara, Shane Strickland and Adam Brooks in a fatal four way match

Ospreay scored the win with the Oscutter.

– Minoru Suzuki, Brian Cage and David Starr defeated Juice Robinson & Hiroshi Tanahashi & Sami Callihan

Suzuki scored the win for his team, submitting Callihan with an armbar. Tanahashi was a unannounced participant in tonight’s festivities.

– The Golden Lovers defeated Chuck Taylor and Flip Gordon

Taylor teased before the match who his tag partner could be, including a swamp monster, Dan Barry and Trent Baretta, who is the one actually being replaced iin the match.  Gordon came out and said he didn’t come out here to team with Chuck Taylore wanted to talk to Omega about being a part of the All In show in September. Taylor eventually convinced Gordon to be his partner, though he lost the match after eating a Golden Trigger.

WWE World Hvt. champion Seth Rollins appeared on Tuesday night’s edition of SportsCenter on ESPNews in the 9:00 p.m. EST hour.

Rollins did not say much of note during the promotional interview. Rollins was mainly in-character as cocky heel champion mixing in sports discussion with general WWE talk.

The newsworthy aspect was ESPN host Jonathan Coachman announcing a weekly interview and Raw Recap segment on the Tuesday night edition of SportsCenter.

The first edition featured a highlight video package set to music from Raw, then a rundown of the Top Match, Top One-Liner, and Top Move of the Night.

– Top Match: John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler for the U.S. Title.

– Top One-Liner: Xavier Woods’s dig at Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose in Chicago.

– Top Move: Roman Reigns’s multiple Superman Punches, with a tie-in to Reigns playing college football at Georgia Tech.

Brock Lesnar is set to appear on Raw next week.

The WWE Universal champion will be on the program just days before he’s due to defend the Universal title in a steel cage against Roman Reigns at the Greatest Royal Rumble. This will be the first time he’s appeared on WWE television since defeating Roman Reigns to retain the title at WrestleMania 34.

Lesnar has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, as it wasn’t known if he was set to stay with the WWE or if he was going to UFC. After a number of teases, it was announced the day after WrestleMania that he had signed a short term deal with WWE and would be defending the Universal title in Saudi Arabia. Lesnar has held the championship since April 2, 2017 when he defeated Goldberg at WrestleMania 33.

Raw next week will be at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

WWE Raw remained consistent with last week doing 3.06 million viewers, down one percent.

The numbers are likely to trickle down as a general rule the next few months due to the NBA playoffs since the basketball numbers will increase as the playoffs get deeper. Last night’s national game did 4.69 million viewers. Raw was third for the night on cable, also trailing Hannity (3.25 million viewers).

There was no bump from the Greatest Royal Rumble, but it’s possible that was negated by the higher basketball audience.

The audience pattern was the same as usual during this time of the year, with the slight bump in hour two and ten percent drop in hour three.

The drop from the second to third hour was the largest among males 18-49. Traditionally it is the women’s number that drops the most in the third hour. Teenagers, both boys and girls, held steady.

The three hours were:

8 p.m. 3.14 million viewers
9 p.m. 3.18 million viewers
10 p.m. 2.88 million viewers
