A new report indicates that Arn Anderson was fired from WWE because he reportedly let Alicia Fox wrestle intoxicated.

According to WrestlingInc, Alicia Fox reportedly showed up at a house show intoxicated. Anderson, who was the agent for her match, allowed Fox to compete despite this. When word got to Vince McMahon he was reportedly furious, which led to the firing.

Fightful soon after reported that Alicia Fox was offered rehab, but instead went absent to the extent that several in the company had no idea if she was offered rehab or where she was. She has not competed in a match since February 10, when he teamed with Mickie James and Nikki Cross in a losing effort against Bayley, Dana Brooke and Natalya.

Anderson had been with the company since 2002 as a road agent/producer. Alicia Fox has been with WWE since 2006.

Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state, has appealed for unity to confront "great power" challenges from Russia, China and Iran on the 70th anniversary of Nato.

"We have rightly sought peace through strength here in Nato. We must continue to do so, especially in this new era of great power competition from Russia, from China, and the Islamic Republic of Iran," he told a meeting of the alliance’s foreign ministers.

The ministers approved a new raft of measures in the Black Sea to counter Russia and boost Georgia and the Ukraine – two aspiring Nato members – with increased maritime co-operation, patrols and port visits.

The ministers also renewed demands for Russia to end its annexation of Crimea, release Ukrainian sailors and ships it seized in a confrontation last year in the Sea of Azov and respect the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The US has said it will withdraw from the 1987 treaty in August unless Russia returns to compliance.

However the meeting in Washington, intended to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, was also marked by a number of public rifts between the member states.

Nato defence expenditure and major annual exercises involving US troops

The US has publicly rebuked Turkey over its planned purchase of a Russian air defence system and demanded that other allies, particularly Germany, boost their defence spending. A public row with Canada over steel tariffs also hung over the commemoration ceremony in the US capital.

Mr Pompeo said addressing the challenges posed by Russia, China and Iran as well as terrorism, uncontrolled migration and new technologies, required enhanced defence and security spending.

Mr Pompeo did not address the spat with Turkey in his speech on Thursday, but in a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday he made clear Washington’s displeasure with Ankara for insisting it would buy Russia’s advanced S-400 system instead of the American Patriot system.

Meanwhile, Canada’s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland used the Nato meeting to register Ottawa’s displeasure with being labelled a potential national security threat by the US in relation to steel production.

She called the designation, which has led to the imposition of tariffs on Canadian steel, "absurd" and pointed to her presence at the Nato meeting as proof that Canada is not a threat to the US.

The remains of a vast palace built by the Emperor Nero, including a 50-seat latrine where slaves and workers would chat while they attended to their needs, opens to the public for the first time today.

The Domus Transitoria was a huge palace on the Palatine Hill, in the heart of ancient Rome, which was constructed in the first century AD by Nero, one of Rome’s most notorious emperors.

The palace was partially destroyed during a fire in 64 AD in which Nero famously fiddled – or played the lyre – while the imperial capital burned.

He then embarked on the building of a new palace, called the Domus Aurea, which was constructed on top of the cavernous remains of the Domus Transitoria.

The remains of the palace, on the Palatine Hill, which overlooks the Roman Forum, have been opened after a 10-year restoration.

Visitors descend a steep flight of steps into a warren of underground chambers, including one which contains two rows of stone latrines.

A shallow channel with running water ran in front of the latrines.

“Romans would clean themselves with a sponge attached to a wooden stick, washing it in the water,” said Stefano Borghini, an architect who was part of the restoration team.

“It may seem strange to us but these big communal latrines were seen as places to socialise and to chat.”

Graffiti left by members of the palace household can still be seen on the frescoed walls of the palace, including a scratched drawing of a little bird.

Archeologists believe the latrines were built for slaves or workers who were engaged in reconstruction after the devastating fire, which raged for six days and destroyed 70 per cent of Rome.

Visitors receive virtual reality goggles which bring the dank chambers to life, showing them as they were 2,000 years ago – part of a huge palace decorated with marble pillars, lavish frescoes, mosaic floors and fountains.

The walls were painted with garden scenes, including trees, flowers and song birds.

Inspiration for the design of the sumptuous residence came from a palace built for the Egyptian pharaoh Ptolemy in Alexandria, said Alfonsina Russo, the director of the archeological zone that encompasses the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill.

“It reflects the personality of Nero, one of the most controversial figures of the Roman Empire,” said Prof Russo.

Many of the statues and frescoes that adorned Nero’s first palace can be seen just a few steps away in the Palatine Museum.

The remains of the palace were discovered in the 18th century but were not accessible to the public until now.

It was called the Domus Transitoria because its courtyards, pavilions and ornamental pools were so extensive that they allowed the emperor and his acolytes to cross from the Palatine Hill to the nearby Esquiline Hill.

The post-Money in the Bank episode of Raw saw the introduction of WWE’s newest championship title.

Mick Foley announced the 24/7 Championship, unveiled the title belt, and the first champion was crowned. Titus O’Neil won the belt, then immediately lost it to Robert Roode. R-Truth ended the night as champion after pinning Roode when Roode was trying to leave the building.

Foley said the 24/7 title is open to every wrestler on the Raw, SmackDown, 205 Live, NXT, and NXT UK rosters. He also teased that we could see a visiting legend compete for the title every now and again.

WWE appears to be trying to revitalize the third hour of Raw, with them using black and white graphics and dimmer lighting during the hour last night.

Brock Lesnar appeared in the opening and main event segments after winning the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. After Universal Champion Seth Rollins & WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Bobby Lashley & Baron Corbin in the main event, Lesnar teased cashing in before walking back up the ramp.

WWE hyped that Lesnar will announce which title he’s going to cash in on next week, though when and where he’ll be getting his title shot has yet to be revealed.

New Mexico high school wrestler Canaan Bower is making headlines this week after helping to stop an alleged kidnapping and assault in Lac Cruces, NM on Wednesday, March 25.

22 year old Daniel Arroyo Beltran of Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested by Doña Ana, NM County Sheriff’s deputies last Wednesday after witnesses said he tried to kidnap three children at Chucky’s Gas Station in Doña Ana. Beltran is also accused of assaulting several patrons and employees who tried to intervene. Beltran has been charged with four counts of battery, two counts of assault, two counts of child abuse, and one count of kidnapping.

The apparent random attack didn’t stop until Bower entered the affray and was able to control Beltran within seconds.

The 16 year old Bower won a district championship in the 285 pound heavyweight division on February 16 of this year, and later competed in the state tournament.

USA Today reports that a woman got off the bus at Chucky’s, which also serves as a Greyhound bus drop-off point, at around 9am last Wednesday with her three children, ages 9, 2 and 1, and was waiting for her Uber when she noticed Arroyo staring at her and her kids. The mother told police that the man eventually approached them and grabbed the arm of the 2 year old, then demanded the woman give him her kids. The police report did not indicate that Arroyo knew the mother or her children. The mother kicked Arroyo and he responded by punching her in the head. The woman said she fell backward on top of her 1 year old son, who was strapped into a carrier on her back. Bystanders tried to intervene and that’s when Arroyo allegedly punched a man and tried to hit a woman who tried to help. At some point, the mother and her kids were able to rush inside the store. A man tried to hold the doors closed but Arroyo pushed the door open with enough force that the man was knocked down. Arroyo then punched that man in the face. Arroyo punched two other women who were inside the store, while running around the store yelling, “Give me the kids.” The woman and her children were hiding in a staff-only room by this point.

Meanwhile, Bower was across the street filling his truck up at a Circle K gas station when he noticed the commotion at Chucky’s. Bower realized something wasn’t right and went over.

“Punches were being thrown and (he could hear) screams of terror, so he jumped in his truck and went across the street,” Troy Bower, father of Canaan, said. “By the time he got there, they had gone inside and so he got out of his truck and went inside — and there was a whole bunch of blood all over the floor.”

Canaan told his father that he witnessed a woman on the phone screaming for help while a man was attempting to kick down a staff-only door.

“So my son — who just won the wrestling district championship weeks ago — just came up behind this guy and body-slammed him and got him in a chokehold and waited for the police to show up,” Troy said.

UFC President Dana White tweeted about the incident and wrote, “Hey Canaan Bower u are AWESOME!!! When this Twilight Zone episode is over i would love to meet u”

You can see footage of the incident below. Also below are local news tweets with a photo of Bower, in the yellow, and the suspect, in the navy, along with Dana’s tweet:

Donald Trump attempted to fire special counsel Robert Mueller after expressing fears the probe would “end” his presidency, according to the newly released Mueller report.

The order, which came just weeks after Mr Mueller had been appointed in May 2017, was among a string of incidents of alleged obstruction of justice recounted in detail by the Mueller report.

Mr Mueller, who was tasked with looking into Russian election meddling in the 2016 campaign, makes clear in the report that he was not exonerating Mr Trump over obstruction of justice.

A Romanian court has ordered a man to pay compensation to his ex-fiancée after she was left “humiliated”, out of pocket and in need of a psychologist when he left her for another woman just hours after their engagement party.

The decision to award damages to the jilted woman has been described as "unprecedented" given the fact the two were not married.

The court found that as the man, who has not been named, had been conducting a relationship with another woman he had “flagrantly breached the duty of loyalty and trust” he should have shown towards his fiancée.

As a consequence he will now have to pay around £6,000 in compensation for the costs of the party and a further £180 for emotional damage. The marriage, due to be hold a month later, also had to be cancelled.

His ex-fiancée had claimed her family had spent a large sum of money on the party, a lavish affair for 200 guests, including over £900 on drinks and £1,700 on the rental of a dress from a leading Bucharest designer.

The distress caused by the abrupt end of the relationship and the costs of the party was compounded by the fact that guests who had brought gifts of money for the couple wanted their money returned.

“It was humiliating experience,” the woman wrote in her petition to the court in the town of Racari, just north-west of Bucharest. “Also, in the small community where we live, the humiliation was increased when people asked for their financial gifts back.”

A witness told the court that upon hearing of the news of her fiancé’s flight the woman had cried all night and then suffered a nervous breakdown that required the care of a psychologist. She had also, the witnesses added, become the subject of small-town gossip.

In his defence the man claimed that he and his mother had borne the cost of the party. He has the right to appeal against the court’s decision.

Amsterdam’s head of transport has announced plans to ban petrol and diesel cars in the city by 2030.

The clean air action plan aims to make the Dutch capital a “world leader in emission-free transport”.

Transport chief Sharon Dijksma said residents “live a year less on average due to dirty air” and that the plan should “prolong the health of the average Amsterdammer by three months.”

But the plan has already incited strong reactions in the Netherlands with one motoring organisation branding it “bizarre” and wondering how normal people would afford electric cars.

“It is good to stress that these are our ambitions,” said Marten Grupstra, spokesman for Amsterdam’s transport department. “People are worried about the costs, but we understand that this is a big transition and it is only possible if it is affordable for everyone: electric cars will get cheaper but people who cannot pay should have other exemptions or subsidies, and it must fit within the country’s policy.”

The city will need an extra 20,000 charging points to accommodate fully electric vehiclesCredit:
 Corbis News

The plan, which would be applied 20 years before the Paris Agreement aims to slash greenhouse gas emissions, would require up to 23,000 electric charging points by 2025. The city currently has 3,000.

Two weeks ago the Dutch government gave cities the option of banning old diesel cars in environmental zones, and Amsterdam has already made moves towards electric-only taxis and is taking out 10,000 car parking spaces in the next seven years.

Floris Liebrand, spokesman for RAI Vereniging, the Dutch car industry’s association, said the plans were unrealistic and could increase divisions between rich and poor.

“It is not realistic if you look at the prospects of the industry,” he said. “How are Amsterdammers going to pay for expensive electric cars, when there is no significant second hand market? In the next 10 years the car industry will develop cleaner petrol and diesel cars which could add to a proper policy to clean our air.”

Friends of the Earth Netherlands has been fighting the Dutch government in courts for breaking European clean air limits, and spokeswoman Anne Knol welcomed the city’s ambition.

“This is to the benefit of the lungs of all Amsterdammer and is urgently needed because the city air is unhealthy and fossil fuels emissions contribute to climate change,” she said. “Now they are going to consult with all Amsterdammers on their views and needs, and if they take these into account, I think it is achievable.”

After the public consultation, the ambitions will be put to a council vote, and a detailed plan should be published in the autumn.
