The Raw after WrestleMania ever year is usually filled with memorable debuts and surprises, and last night’s edition of the show was no different. Perhaps the most shocking moment of the night came when The Undertaker arrived in the Barclays Center and laid out Elias with a Tombstone Piledriver. Although “The Deadman” was in town for all of the festivities that took place during the weekend of WrestleMania in the New York/New Jersey area, WrestleMania 35 on Sunday marked the first time that the legendary wrestler has not appeared on the show since WrestleMania 2000. It was certainly a pleasant surprise to see Undertaker again, but WWE may have had more in mind than simply surprising the fans last night.
As usual, Elias performed a concert during Raw last night only to be interrupted. However, The Undertaker was the man to disrupt the performance this time. He laid out “The Drifter” before making his way to the back. According to PWInsider, Undertaker’s return took place last night as a way to lay the groundwork for an upcoming match between “The Phenom” and Elias. Undertaker is currently set to return to the ring for a match when WWE comes back to Saudi Arabia in June. As of right now, the former world champion is set to face Elias in his first match with WWE since last fall’s Crown Jewel show. Expect to see Elias mention Undertaker much more on Raw in the weeks leading up to the summer event.
Dean Ambrose was written off of television during Raw last night when he was placed through a table by Bobby Lashley. He came back out after the show went off the air for one final Shield reunion. Fans and wrestlers alike have been begging for Ambrose to sign a new WWE contract, but the former WWE Champion has refused to give in. However, it is possible that “The Lunatic Fringe” may return to WWE television again in the near future after all. According to Slice Wrestling, Ambrose is taking a six-month break from the ring and will make a decision during that time as to whether or not he wants to work for WWE again. Given Ambrose’s popularity, it is also possible that he will listen to other offers that may come his way.

Report:
The Latest On Ambrose Is That He Is Set To Take A Long Break (6 Months) From WWE. At The Same Time AEW Has Offered Him A Incredible Contract For Up To $6 Million Per Yr (More $ Than Roman & Seth) For Less Dates. Dean Will Make His Decision Over The Next Few Months pic.twitter.com/OnMprKhVon

Americans love their pets. Last year, they shelled out $72.5 billion pampering them and making sure they’re in good health, according to the American Pet Products Association.

One cat that’s sure to get extra spoiling is Sasha, a scruffy looking cat Viktor Usov adopted from a Portland, Oregon, animal shelter six years ago. Sasha is back home now after a five-year journey that took him from the Pacific Northwest to the desert Southwest.

If Sasha could talk, he would have some amazing cat tales to share.

Read about Sasha’s journey and the amazing reunion with his doting owner on Portland Patch: Cat Back Home After Roaming 5 Years from Oregon To New Mexico

Now, scroll through some other pet and animal stories from Patch’s local editors across the country.

Thrown Out Window, Trapped In SUV Engine, Kitty Finds Home

A kitten thrown out of a moving car holed up in a woman’s Subaru SUV. Freeing her wasn’t an easy trick. (Photo courtesy of The Tire Kingdom)

Americans love pets so much that when one is treated horribly, their hearts are broken. A woman in Florida, Debby Maroney, was driving down the highway when someone in front of her casually threw a kitten out the window.

She and another motorist looked for it, to no avail. What she didn’t know was that the frightened kitten had crawled into the engine compartment of her SUV. She heard the frightened baby mewing and knew where she had holed up, but couldn’t retrieve her. Firefighters couldn’t either.

Read how the kitten, now named Subaru, was freed and how she’s doing now on South Tampa Patch.

Video: 4-Legged Driver Gets Behind Wheel, Makes Cops Dizzy

Americans love their pets so much that a Florida dog probably won’t get in too much trouble for getting behind the wheel and taking a joyride around a cul-de-sac — over and over and over. The car plowed down a mailbox and knocked over a few trash cans, but no one was hurt.

Police aren’t quite sure how it all happened.

Maggie Sent Home After Burglary Adventure In Florida

Americans love stories about “Florida man,” but getting some serious competition from “Florida dog.”

A lovable bulldog named “Maggie” was reunited with her California owner this week following a four-year cross-country adventure that left her thousands of miles away from home and a central figure in a Florida burglary spree.

Read how Maggie found herself in the middle of a crime spree on Sarasota Patch.

Video: Wild Turkey Stalks Wisconsin Mail Carrier

Americans love wacky animal stories, too. This one about a wild turkey that stalked a mail carrier for months qualifies.

“He didn’t pay me much attention at all in the first couple of months, but over the last month, he’s acquainted himself quite well with the truck and has started to follow me,” the mail carrier, Jeff Bryne, told The Associated Press. s”It’s Thanksgiving. I can’t say he’s annoying. It’s too close to his holiday.”

See the video of the persistent turkey on Waukesha Patch.

Video: Wild Burro Gets Stuck In A Sinkhole

Americans also love happy endings. Authorities in California think a wild burro was grazing along a California roadside when things suddenly went south and he slipped into a sinkhole. The hapless animal’s situation was discovered Thursday when someone saw only his head and neck showing.

Vampiro, Current AAA Director Of Talent & Lucha Underground Announcer, recently took to his Facebook to announce that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
“Got some results from the doctor yesterday,” he wrote. “Not the best of news. But in my heart I know it’s a fight I am gonna win. I am not worried about anything. I am worried about how I can give more back to everyone who needs support. I Don’t give a f–k about being sick , as me and my doctors have a plan! And I will be fine!”
Vampiro would once again take to his Facebook shortly after and post a video for his fans. Vampiro would then say that the disease is in the beginning stages and it is “not that big of a deal” to him because he knows he will beat it.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Six people were killed Tuesday — including two suspects, a Jersey City police detective and three civilians — in an hourslong shootout with the two heavily armed shooters in a densely populated area of New Jersey. Videos showed the horrifying scene, with brutal war-like gunfire booming in the background.

Update: Chilling Details Revealed After 6 Killed In Jersey City Shooting

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop confirmed the identity of fallen Jersey City police officer Detective Joseph Seals, 39, a married father of five. He was not killed in the shootout but where Tuesday’s dramatic incident first began, in Bayview Cemetery on Garfield Avenue, according to Jersey City Police Chief Mike Kelly.

His killing appeared to be connected to the wild shooting standoff that unfolded moments later on MLK Drive.

“We believe he was killed while trying to interdict these bad guys at the other location,” Kelly said. “Detective Seals was working. I can just say that he came upon bad guys. I don’t know yet how he got there.”

The two shooting suspects have been identified as a man and a woman, David Anderson and Francine Graham, law enforcement sources told News4.

Incident began as a possible homicide investigation in Bayview Cemetery

The incident started at Bayview Cemetery just after noon Tuesday and was possibly related to an ongoing homicide investigation, according to NBC New York.

Seals approached the suspects in that case and was shot and killed, Kelly said. NJ.com reported he was shot once in the back of the head, behind the ear. He died at the Jersey City Medical Center.

From the cemetery, the man and woman shooting suspects fled to the Jersey City Kosher Supermarket at 223 Martin Luther King Drive. They arrived at the grocery store in a stolen U-Haul van, wearing all black and carrying long guns. Homemade bombs were found in the stolen U-Haul, Kelly said.

“Based on our initial investigation (which is ongoing) we now believe the active shooters targeted the location they attacked,” Fulop said. “Due to an excess of caution the community may see additional police resources in the days/weeks ahead. We have no indication there are any further threats.”

Outside the store, they reportedly shot a person, who survived, and then holed up inside, where they continued firing at officers for hours.

As soon as police arrived at the grocery store, they were immediately met with “high-powered rifle gun fire,” Kelly said. “At that time, we were learning that we had another officer down on Garfield Avenue. That was Detective Joseph Seals.”

The standoff started about 12:30 p.m., and it wasn’t until shortly after 2:30 p.m. that the two shooters had been taken down by police.

“We took gunfire for hours,” Kelly said. “Our officers were under gunfire for hours.”

Two other officers, Mariela Fernandez and Ray Sanchez, were hit by gunfire, he said. All are expected to recover.

“(Seals) gave his life,” Mayor Steven Fulop said. “Another officer was shot in the shoulder. And two officers are receiving medical treatment due to shrapnel.”

Meanwhile, for a two-hour span, bullets could be heard echoing across MLK Drive; all city schools were on lockdown, and police were telling people in the Greenville section of the city to get inside and off the streets.

The shooters fired at anyone they saw, according to NJ.com, including firing shots at the nearby Sacred Heart School, a private Catholic elementary school on Bayview Avenue.

Police eventually sent a robot inside the grocery store, where they found the bodies of the two shooters and three civilians. Police think the three civilians inside the store had been killed by the shooters, Kelly said.

Moshe Hersh Deutsch, 24, and Leah Mindel Ferencz, 33, who owned the kosher grocery store with her husband, were identified as two of the civilian victims, according to The Record. A 48-year-old customer was identified by The Jewish Press as the third civilian victim.

When asked by a reporter, the mayor said this does not appear to be an incident of terrorism.

Detective Seals remembered as a heroic officer

“It’s been a really tough day for the city of Jersey City,” Fulop said in a press conference. “(Seals) has been with the department since 2006. He was a great officer, and he took pride in his job. He was a husband and father of five children. He was a good cop.”

Seals worked with the cease-fire unit and was a longtime veteran of the JCPD. He lived in North Arlington and often worked plainclothes police details, NJ.com reported.

“Even more than being a police officer that loved Jersey City, he was responsible for getting the most guns off the street,” Fulop said of Seals. “Officers in other precincts knew who he was because he was a good cop.”

Seals worked in the department’s cease-fire unit and was responsible for getting “dozens and dozens” of illegal guns off the street, Kelly said.

He is the same man who was hailed in this report as the police officer who saved a Jersey City woman from a possible sexual assault in 2008. He and another officer broke through a window to save a woman who was being sexually assaulted in an apartment on Christmas Eve.

“We cried with the family; it’s one of the hardest things you ever have to see in your entire life,” Fulop said. “Sometimes people don’t appreciate the tough work these police officers do every single day.”

A barrage of gunfire can be heard in this video:

President Trump, governor issue statements

Tuesday’s shootout in Jersey City was so serious that President Donald Trump and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy were briefed.

“I have been briefed on the unfolding situation in Jersey City,” said Murphy said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Jersey City Police Department, especially with the officers shot during this standoff, and with the residents and schoolchildren currently under lockdown.”

“Just received a briefing on the horrific shootout that took place in Jersey City, NJ. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & their families during this very difficult & tragic time,” Trump tweeted late Tuesday afternoon.

Every school in the Jersey City public school district was placed on lockdown, and all public school students were safe, the mayor said.

“All students and staff are safe; however every school is on lockdown,” the Jersey City school district tweeted. Bayonne public schools are also on lockdown, the Bayonne Board of Education tweeted.

Last weekend at WrestleMania Axxess, WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura was interviewed by Wrestling Inc.’s Scott Fishman on a number of topics. Also during the same weekend, International Star KUSHIDA signed with NXT and was introduced to The NXT Universe at NXT TakeOver: New York.
Nakamura was first asked what he thought about KUSHIDA signing with The WWE. Nakamura said that KUSHIDA signing with WWE is big for both him and the company, as seen below:
“KUSHIDA joined NXT, that’s huge for WWE and American wrestling history,” Nakamura said. “Experienced wrestlers around the world have options to where they wrestle and he chooses WWE / NXT. That’s kind of big for [WWE] and him.”
KUSHIDA is a multiple-time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Nakamura was then asked if his decision to join WWE back in 2016 influence KUSHIDA or any other Japanese Stars to also join the company.
Nakamura said, “I don’t know.” “[There are] so many options. WWE has history, that’s the difference. Also, New Japan and CMLL have history. So, we want to wrestle for legacy.”

NEW YORK, NY — David Stern, who served as commissioner of the NBA for three decades and stepped down in 2014, has died weeks after suffering a sudden brain hemorrhage in New York City. He was 77. The NBA confirmed his death in a statement to media outlets New Year’s Day, saying his wife, Dianne, and their family surrounded Stern at his bedside.

Stern had undergone emergency surgery last month after suffering the hemorrhage. He was at the Brasserie 8 1/2 restaurant near Central Park in Manhattan when he collapsed. He was immediately rushed to a hospital.

Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA, called Stern a mentor and dear friend.

“We spent countless hours in the office, at arenas and on planes wherever the game would take us,” Silver said in a statement. “Like every NBA legend, David had extraordinary talents, but with him it was always about the fundamentals — preparation, attention to detail, and hard work.”

Stern took over the NBA in 1984 with the league facing a crossroads, Silver said. During his tenure, the NBA became a global brand, with Stern launching media and promotional partnerships and bringing the sport into the digital age, watched by billions across the world.

“Because of David, the NBA is a truly global brand — making him not only one of the greatest sports commissioners of all time but also one of the most influential business leaders of his generation,” Silver said.

Tributes poured in from players, teams, media personalities and more Wednesday. Richard Jefferson, who was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in 2001 and played for several teams throughout his career, called Stern one of the most important people in NBA history.

“The two most important people in the history of the game of basketball are Dr James Naismith and DAVID STERN,” Jefferson tweeted. “One man created the game and the other made it what it is today. RIP David, so many owe you so much!”

Former Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade tweeted that shaking Stern’s hand when he was drafted in 2003 was a “dream come true.”

The Golden State Warriors called Stern an “icon.”

“We lost an icon of our sport today with the passing of Commissioner Emeritus David Stern,” the team tweeted. “David was a visionary and innovator in every sense of the language, and the success of our league today is a reflection of his leadership.”
