The March 27 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown viewership on Fox took a big dip on week three of empty arena format with Reigns vs. Triple H, Firefly Funhouse, New Day vs. Usos, dripping below 2.4 million viewers for only the fourth time since debuting Fox last October.

The first hour drew 2.393 million viewers and the second hour dipped to 2.355 million viewers.

Last week’s episode drew 2.569 million viewers, which was up from the prior week’s 2.470 million. The average viewership since debuting on Smackdown last October is 2.55 million.

The viewership this week was actually below the year-ago viewership of 2.393 million, which was the peak week for Smackdown’s viewership on USA Network in 2019 one year ago this week. It’s the first time Fox dipped below USA’s year-ago viewership number.

Although Smackdown was far behind ABC’s Shark Tank, which drew 5.969 million viewers and several other network shows that drew over 5 million, it was the top ranked show in the 18-34 demographic and the first hour tied for top viewership among adults 18-49.

Andrade’s replacement for WrestleMania 36 was officially confirmed on tonight’s Raw.

It was announced on Raw that a six-man tag match with Andrade, Angel Garza & Seth Rollins facing The Street Profits & Kevin Owens would be taking place later in the show, but Austin Theory replaced Andrade in the match. It was later made official that Theory is also replacing Andrade at WrestleMania, with Garza & Theory challenging The Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team titles.

Owens pinned Garza to win tonight’s match but was immediately given a stomp by Rollins after.

When Garza made his entrance for the six-man tag, Zelina Vega announced that Andrade wasn’t cleared to compete due to a rib injury. Vega said she has access to the hottest young talent in WWE, then introduced Theory. She called him a 22-year-old sensation and said he’s the hottest free agent no more.

Theory signing with WWE was announced in August 2019. He’s a former EVOLVE Champion.

Theory was in action on NXT last week and lost to Tyler Breeze.

WrestleMania 36 is airing on the WWE Network on Saturday (April 4) and Sunday (April 5). The two-night event was taped last week.

Štokr vs. Cuneo 3-0. Scudetto for Trentino!

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

It was the match of one team in the V-day of the Italian Serie A1 played in Rome. Itas Diatec Trentino ended this magnificent season conquering the Italian Champion title.

Today the Palalottomatica sports hall in Rome is colored in yellow and blue because of the victory of Itas Diatec Trentino in the final match of the Italian Serie A1 against Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo. After winning the FIVB Champions League and the FIVB Club World Championships, they took the Scudetto. For the second time in the history of the club.

Both Trento and Cuneo have played fascinating semifinals (Trento won over Modena 3:2, Cuneo beat Macerata 3:2), for which reason fans could expect comparable amount of emotions and involvement in the V-day. In fact it was a marvelous performance of the players from Trentino. They needed only 3 sets and 72 minutes to split their opponents. In the first set Cuneo was able to make 13 points, in the last – only 9. Disappointment? The biggest difference between both teams was the efficiency in attack: 64% Trento, 32% Cuneo. The absolute key for the victory was the Czech spiker, Jan Štokr, named by the Italian journalists a points making machine. He became the Top Scorer of the match (21 points) with 69% in the attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace. He deservedly was titled as the Most Valuable Player of the match. Good performance also for Matey Kaziyski (13 points and 60% in attack) and Andrea Sala (3 aces and 1 block), decisive in the 1st set. In Cuneo only 2 aces made by the team, 37%-efficiency in reception and 32% – in attack.

Raphael said: “For me the value of this victory is double, because last season I wasn’t able to play in the final match. So for me it was a goal and a dream to play in this V-day, to end this wonderful season with the Scudetto. There couldn’t be a better prize for the team, for the society, for the fans, for everyone that support us. I dedicate this victory to my wife and my incoming child.”

Fantastic Ivan Miljkovic beat Brazil

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

Team of B. Rezende lost another game in four sets with European champions from Serbia. “This is an important victory for us“, said MVP of the game Ivan Miljkovic.

Ivan Miljkovic about the game: “Brazil is always interesting for us. All the games are very important, but for sure this is an important victory for us, even though we don’t have big chances to qualify. But it will help us improve our games and change our approach moving forward“.

The first two games in Hamamatsu we played with a young team and they put up good resistance. I think they learned a lot. We were fresher than Brazil today, and some of our starters were well rested. But yes, this is an important victory for us“, added Serbian captain.

We had so many mistakes today. And for us in such big a match, we really wanted to win. Serbia played very good in their attack, Nikic and Miljkovic played well, and with us not blocking or defending well is difficult, making too many mistakes“, commented the lost game Giba.

Russia is stunned by young Serbs

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

Russian national team continues to show bad form in the preliminary round of World League. Second defeat in a row leaves favorites only a third place in the group A standings.

Last year’s champions has started their campaign to defend the title 4 weeks ago in Japan with the squad missing some top players and even head coach Vladimir Alekno. So it came as no surprised that inexperienced team was making lots of errors and played 3 five-set games with 2 wins and defeat from Cuba. Alekno expressed disappointment with the performance of some players who were later sent home from the squad and of Italian coach of Russian team Sergio Buzzato.

For the second round of group A games Russia has brought all the star names and hoped to improve on the results. However even the first game against young and ambitious Serbian team has shown that Russian squad needs to improve a lot on their game if it wants to qualify for the “Final 6”. Serbian team led by undoubtable future stars Uros Kovacevic and Aleksandar Atanasijevic has outplayed their experienced opponents in every department of the game, especially rare thing for Russia is to be beaten so soundly in points from block score 16-9. Serbian head coach Igor Kolakovic has told that: “Young players desire to succeed was a key for us in the crucial moments of this game.” On the other hand Russian players have shown to be far away from their last year’s winning form. But still the team will be hoping to get stronger with every game, next two matches with Japan and Cuba going to be very important for their chances of qualifying.

Serbia – Russia – 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-23)

In the other pool A game Cuba has topped Japan by 3-1 and the current standings in the group A are:

  1. Serbia – 9 points
  2. Cuba – 8 p
  3. Russia -5 p
  4. Japan – 2

Women’s Superleague: Thriller in five sets

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

A very interesting match took place in the sixth round of the Russian Superleague games. After a five set thriller Kazan beat Krasnodar and remains the only team in the league without a defeat.

Fans gathered in the hall in Kazan watched an exciting game, full of many twists and turns. None of the teams, even when it was several points ahead, could be sure of its victory. Dinamo Kazan was close to ending the game after three sets as it was leading in the third set 20: 17, but the decrease in the effectiveness of the attack meant that the match had to go on. However, the team from Krasnodar did not make use of their chance to win the tie-break, when with the result of 13:11 they were not able to get the decisive points. The match ended with three effective actions from the Dinamo Kazan player, Regina Moroz.

Familiar faces in the Bundesliga semis

July 2, 2020 | News | No Comments

The playoff results in the German Bundesliga did not offer many surprises so far. The three main title contenders galloped through the quarterfinal stage without much pressure and all demonstrated an unequivocal champion desire.

Unlike the big three, among which VfB Friedrichshafen and Generali Unterhaching made up to their fans in the quarterfinals for the shaky end of the regular season, SC Moerser and TV Ingersoll Buhl took part in the most dramatic playoff, facing each other. March was very important for the guys of head coach Chang Cheng Liu. Unfortunately, three tie-break defeats in as many decisive games left SC Moerser empty-handed and out of the league semifinals. They first one lost to Unterhaching for the German Cup final in Halle at the beginning of the month (19-25, 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 10-15) only to precede another missed chance against Buhl in the quarterfinals. Ruben Wolochin led his selection to a heart-breaking win in Moers (23-25, 25-21, 29-27, 21-25, 22-20) in front of 1300 that supervened another five-setter in Buhl a few days earlier to confirm our conviction about Buhl eventually making it to the last four. However, we can’t ignore the good season SC Moerser enjoyed. The Pokal final will most probably give them the right to participate in Europe once more next season.

Berlin Recycling Volleys did not attract our attention too much in the past two months for the pure reason that they did not need to shine to reach the semis. TV Buhl will be a dangerous opponent there, but I doubt Adam White & Co. will have the potential to do something more remarkable outside Buhl, the “Max-Schmelling” sports hall seems way too unhospitable for the small team from south-western Germany. Well, it’s true Wolochin found a way already to beat Mark Lebedew in the league (in Buhl, of course), but I believe that the eventual European Cups participation will be a great achievement overall for the Argentinian coach and his team.

It makes no sense to move the focus somewhere else but on southern Germany in the next weeks. The reason for that is as clear as it could have been in the past years – the great rivalry between Generali Unterhaching and VfB Friedrichshafen, between Mihai Paduretu and Stelian Moculescu goes to a new, relatively unknown and surely unusual level as their sides will fight for one final spot. VfB reminded of their good old days in both quarterfinal clashes with evivo Dueren. Valentin Bratoev has finally recovered to give the additional push his team had been longing for. He is yet to show more in the semis, I can guarantee you. Simeonov will undoubtedly be loaded with most responsibility, but it would be to the weakest position – the setter, to show how ready the Bodensee guys are to appear in the final after a year break.

Unterhaching was the only team from top three to slip a set in the previous playoff round against Rottenburg, but with the Pokal in their hands and the last straigh-set win in Friedrichshafen in mind they seem to be the favourite for the time being, at least on paper. Paduretu has no other objective but the title, which he unluckily missed last year, so you can be sure southern volleyball Germany will be cracking in the next days.

There is a live video transmission for the first semifinal tomorrow evening in Unterhaching. You can watch it on www.dvl-live.tv, the match starts at 19:30 on Wednesday, 3th April.

After the three lost sparings with Serbia, the mood among the Polish fans could not be really cheerful. Andrea Anastasi made a suprising decision to replace Zbigniew Bartman with Grzegorz Bociek – young 22-year old opposite and the new player of Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle. Bociek has presented himself quite well in Serbia and it seems like that earned him the participation in much bigger show.

National team of Poland for 11th Hubert Wagner’s Memorial

Setters: Lukasz Zygadlo, Fabian Drzyzga
Opposites: Jakub Jarosz, Grzegorz Bociek
Receivers: Bartosz Kurek, Michal Winiarski, Michal Kubiak, Michal Ruciak, Wojciech Wlodarczyk
Middle Blockers: Piotr Nowakowski, Marcin Mozdzonek, Lukasz Wisniewski, Andrzej Wrona
Libero: Pawel Zatorski, Damian Wojtaszek

Memorial will take place from September 6th to 8th.
