WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke with Pop Culture to promote his new book, Slobberknocker: My Life in Wrestling.” Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On if he feels WWE should change up Roman Reigns’ push: “Well, I think you just got to continue to allow him to be pretty good. You know, whenever the time is opportune. He is better than pretty good and a good kid, real good kid. Very committed.

“There’s nothing you say on TV, there’s no pillow vignettes, let’s change his music, let’s change his hair color, let’s change his outfit. You know, let’s change for change’s sake. Let’s change not knowing the selection, but just change for change sake. Because well, it might work. It might not. Steer the course and not be so wrapped up in getting him accepted as a fan favorite or a villain. I accept him as a star. And that’s what Roman Reigns is, he’s a star.”

On which “floundering star” he thinks will hold a WWE Championship next: “Probably Sasha [Banks]. I think Bray Wyatt’s an amazing upside. I think he’s a character baby face and I think Sasha Banks is a [natural] heel.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair recently appeared on NBC Sports Radio for an interview. Below are some of the highlights.

On the art of creating promos: “That all came off the top of my head. We’d be out in Atlanta [Georgia] all night long, back at the hotel around 5 a.m., change clothes, and go to the studio and start taping at 9 o’clock. That’s just a lot of coffee and a lot of liking what I was doing for a living, being surrounded by guys like Dusty and Arn [Anderson] and guys that had so much influence on me. And we went out there and we competed with each other. Does that make sense? If Dusty was out there first, I knew I had to follow that. If I was on first and Dusty had to follow me. It was very competitive.”

On how much he feels he has influenced The Rock and others: “I think he’ll admit that a lot of me was him. I don’t know how many Rolex watches I’ve sold for Rolex from guys buying their first Rolex. I can remember Randy Orton got his first big check with Evolution. The first thing he bought was a new tricked out diamond encrusted Rolex, so I know that I’ve done some damage. I think a lot of guys have become more wardrobe-conscious. Does that make sense? Looking the part all of the time as opposed to when you’re in the gym. Every time you walk into a door, you want everybody in the joint to look at you. That’s just what it is.”

On the origins of the Four Horsemen faction: “Actually, the idea for The Four Horsemen came from Arn, just something he said one day about The Four Horsemen. I can’t remember the terminology, but he put up [the] four [hand gesture] and Arn did it and we started doing it each week and within a month it caught on and it was bigger than ever. It was huge, so I give all that to Arn. He took the ball and he ran with it.”

On Wednesday, WWE announced the official theme songs for the upcoming NXT TakeOver: WarGames live WWE Network special, which airs the night before this year’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view.

There will be two songs that will serve as the official theme songs for the next NXT TakeOver special in Houston, Texas, as both “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe)” by Power Trip and “Play” by Marmozets were named the themes for the big event.

WWE and NXT executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque commented on the news of the two songs serving as theme songs for the NXT TakeOver: WarGames special via social media this week.

“The Game” wrote the following on his official Twitter page about the Power Trip and Marmozets songs being announced as the NXT TakeOver: WarGames theme songs:

Happy Halloween, cats and kittens! Welcome to another episode of the Lawcast! This week we’re doing a rare Tuesday episode so that we can go back for one more helping of WCW’s Halloween spectacular.

We’re ending our run of Halloween Havocs on 1997, which saw Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio have one of the best matches in wrestling history, and Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan have one of the worst matches in wrestling history. But that’s not all! We also have the ugliest in ring attire imaginable, a random fan showing off his cage climbing skills, and everybody is doing the Alex Wright dance.

All this and more, this week on the show!

— This week on Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Big Cass talked to Sam about when he’s projected to be coming back, the Enzo storyline ending, learning Spanish while he’s home, and more…

Cass on when he will be returning

“SR: …do we know around when you might be healthy enough?

BC: I am right on schedule for when the surgeon said so it should be shortly after WrestleMania.”

Cass on when he knew he was injured, and the end of the Enzo story line

“BC: I knew immediately as soon as I hit the floor, I felt it pop, I heard it pop and when I got up I couldn’t put weight on it. I told the ref, I think I just tore my ACL but I think I can finish and that just didn’t happen. The second I rolled out, 8-9 months I am out and I had just defeated Big Show at SummerSlam and I was rocking and rolling man.

SR: And that was the end of the Enzo storyline.

BC: All I was thinking was it’s just a huge setback man, I was very angry and very emotional, that’s who I am as a person. Big Cass is going to be emotional and me as a human being, aside from Big Cass is going to be emotional in that situation. I always wanted to be here and doing this, finally on my own and on the up and I just got emotional, it’s who I am.”

“SR: …you’re at home, what are you doing with yourself?

BC: Well, we just bought a new house in Tampa so pretty much I am rehabbing twice a day and then I’m training with Rob McIntyre, that’s John Cena’s trainer, getting back in shape lifting wise and then hanging round the house, fantasy football, I’m brushing up on my Spanish, so when I come back I’ll be a little better at that.

SR: Oh my god, that’s more so you can be like ah so WWE is a worldwide company.

BC: Yeah, I took four semesters in college and after that I was pretty good, but I haven’t had any practice since so I’m just trying to go back and brush up on it.”

WWE Announces Signing of Trevor “Ricochet” Mann

November 30, 2020 | News | No Comments

— Earlier today, WWE announced the official signing of Ricochet, making official a long rumored assumption that he would be joining the company. According to the article, Ricochet joined the WWE Performance Center today and while it was not indicated, he is expected to wrestle on the NXT brand.

— WWE is also expected to announce more signings today, most likely Candice LaRae and the tag team War Machine.

As noted, Daniel Bryan has been on a mission to find a way to get medically cleared to return to the ring and wrestle again.

During his recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the SmackDown Live General Manager once again spoke about the chances of returning to the ring. This time, however, Bryan was asked what the chances of WWE clearing him are, or if he feels like he’ll return to the ring for another promotion, such as Ring Of Honor (ROH).

“I think there is an 85% chance that I will wrestle again, my wife says it’s 100%,” Bryan said. “That’s not the case, if I get a test that says I shouldn’t wrestle again, then I won’t wrestle again. So I think there is an 85% chance that I will wrestle again. I would say that there is about a 20% chance that WWE will clear me to wrestle. It’s a small chance, but it’s not an impossible chance.”

Bryan continued, “I know that they [WWE] want me to wrestle. There’s just a lot of stuff that has to happen for me to be able to wrestle.”

Additionally, Bryan spoke about his old days of working the independent pro wrestling schedule and his belief that if WWE were to eventually clear him, they would give him a “lighter schedule” to work.

“One of the things about an independent schedule is that it would be easier,” Bryan said. “But I think if WWE were to clear me, they’d give me a little bit of a lighter schedule. We’re not running as hard as we were in 2013 where you’re doing both shows [RAW and SmackDown].”
