WWE returns this evening with their taped episode of NXT TV on the WWE Network from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, one of the final four episodes to air before the black-and-gold brand moves to the USA Network with their new live, two-hour weekly format.

With The Street Profits’ NXT Tag Team Championship victory against The Undisputed ERA at TakeOver: Toronto tainted by controversy, Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford prepare to put their title on the line this week in a high-stakes rematch with Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly.

The Undisputed ERA will receive NXT Tag Team Title Match against The Street Profits

Love them or loathe them, Undisputed ERA’s Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly were correct when they claimed The Street Profits pinned the wrong man to retain the NXT Tag Team Titles at TakeOver: Toronto. Indeed, video replay indicates that Fish tagged into the bout moments before O’Reilly was pinned.

Following that controversy, Fish & O’Reilly were singularly focused on righting the wrong, and their demands have been heard. This week on NXT, Undisputed ERA’s tandem terrors will challenge Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins for the titles.

Can Fish & O’Reilly hold up their end of The Undisputed ERA’s golden prophecy and claim the faction’s third reign as NXT Tag Team Champions? Or will The Sultans of Swag defend their crown as the black-and-gold brand prepares to go live on USA Network next month?

An epic rematch six months in the making

Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic will look to settle some unfinished business this week when they clash in a long-awaited rematch on NXT.

The two high-flying heavyweights last met in February, and the result was a high-octane, cutting-edge battle that ended in a double count-out, denying the longtime rivals the opportunity to find out who the better big man was in their first clash inside an NXT ring.

Dijakovic’s knee surgery delayed their hotly anticipated rematch, but now that The Rare Breed is cleared for action, his duel with Lee is back on the books, much to the delight of both Superstars. Lee is desperate to get back on track after a pivotal loss to Damian Priest, while Dijakovic looks to make an impact at Lee’s expense in his NXT TV return.

— Vince McMahon’s involvement (or lack there of) in the upcoming NXT TV shows has been a hot topic of debate lately, with some reporters (Dave Meltzer) suggesting that it is only a matter of time before Vince gets hands-on, especially if the brand begins losing in the ratings war against AEW. Triple H recently appeared on TalkSPORT and shot down the latest Meltzer report, stating that Vince has basically told him it’s his show to make into a success:

“Let’s be honest, there’s a lot of things that people like Dave (Meltzer) say that don’t make sense because they don’t approach things from a business standpoint. Put it this way: we’re gonna be live on Mondays, we’re gonna be live on Wednesdays, we’re gonna be live on Fridays. There’s so much bandwidth to go. And the truth is…it’s just funny, the small-mindedness of it, that people don’t give Vince credit for being the businessman that he is. And the speculation and rumors and it’s easy when people leave or they go their own way to defend or jump onto speculation and rumors and a lot of it is that what it just is. When people talk about him, as a businessman, there are so many crazy misconceptions. The truth is, all of what we’re doing right now in this business is here because of him. He took a failing industry, so to speak, in a period of time in the 80s and turned it into a global phenomenon when nobody else had the foresight to do it. All the things that he’s done and where it is today. People look at sometimes where it is today, and you hear them say negative things, and it’s like, really? We signed billion-dollar deals with Fox and USA. I’m not sure that it’s crumbling. He’s also smart enough to understand the things that we do and where they go and how and the pieces of it. If you’re asking the simple term and answer, he’s not involved (with NXT). You know what I mean? Yeah, he’s gonna have say in some things like the brand sits and the marketing of it with USA and all that stuff and clearly, whatever he wants to do, at the end of the day. But the truth is at this point in time, he’s basically said, ‘Go make this thing a success.’”

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin to moderate Universal Championship contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman

One week after the Universal Title contract signing between Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman for WWE Clash of Champions ended in chaos thanks to The O.C., WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin returns to his old stomping grounds, Madison Square Garden, to preside over this anticipated contract signing … and raise some hell if he needs to.

After United States Champion AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson spoiled Rollins and Strowman’s contract signing, Austin took to Twitter, announcing that he would be making sure the contract signing goes down like it’s supposed to next week, and that’s the bottom line.

Remembering that Rollins received Austin’s seal of approval on Raw last month, Strowman seems wary of the WWE Hall of Famer’s return, stating plainly that if Austin steps out of line with The Monster Among Men, he’ll get those hands. However, just about anyone who has crossed The Texas Rattlesnake over the past 20-plus years has gotten a Stunner for their trouble, no matter their size.

Raw King of the Ring Semifinal Match becomes a Triple Threat

Anything can happen in WWE, and if you’re Baron Corbin, the surprises aren’t always pleasant.

After Ricochet and Samoa Joe’s King of the Ring quarterfinal bout ended in a rarely seen double pinfall, WWE officials determined that both Superstars would advance to the semifinal round on Raw’s side of the bracket. As such, Corbin – who defeated an injured Cedric Alexander in his own quarterfinal match – will meet WWE’s resident superhero and The Samoan Shark in a Triple Threat Match Monday night on Raw. The winner of that semifinal match will go on to face a Superstar from SmackDown LIVE in the final match of the 2019 King of the Ring tournament.

After SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley helped Sasha Banks obliterate Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in separate attacks on Raw and SmackDown LIVE this past week, The Man and The Queen will form an unexpected alliance against the brutal best friends in an anticipated tag team match involving all of WWE’s Four Horsewomen.

With his King of the Ring dreams tarnished by Styles and his nefarious allies Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Alexander will no doubt hold nothing back against the U.S. Champion. Will Alexander settle the score?

According to The Wrap, the hit Netflix series GLOW, which revolves around the popular all-women’s wrestling promotion from the 1980s founded by David McLane, has been renewed for a fourth and final season. This news comes a couple of days before the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards program, where lead star Betty Gilpin is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. The show also features Allison Brie, Marc Maron, Geena Davis (Season Three) and Kia Stevens (Awesome Kong), as well as cameos from wrestlers like Johnny Mundo, Chavo Guerrero, Joey Ryan, Alex Riley, and Brodus Clay.

McLane’s new promotion WOW, currently airs on AXS TV, and has just returned for a second season.
