By comparison, last week’s Survivor Series “go-home” edition of RAW finished with 3.031 million viewers.

Below is the hourly viewership breakdown for this week’s RAW:

USA Today is reporting that Ronda Rousey and WWE are currently in the process of finalizing a deal that will bring the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion to the world of professional wrestling.

As noted, Rousey has been working out and training at the WWE Performance Center facility in Orlando, Florida for the past few months, reportedly preparing for an inevitable return to the squared circle in WWE.

“Rowdy” Ronda famously appeared alongside The Rock at WrestleMania 31, and most recently appeared at the first annual Mae Young Classic and a NXT live event, leading to rumors of a showdown between the MMA and pro wrestling versions of the Four Horsewomen faction.

Rousey has included video footage of her recent pro wrestling training at the WWE Performance Center (see below), and has been the subject of some public comments from WWE executive and on-air performer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

“She is very interested in our business, always has been a huge fan, that’s where the ‘Rowdy Ronda’ came from,” Triple H told Good Morning Britain during a television appearance last month. “I think she’s interested in the opportunity, I’m interested in offering her the opportunity, so we have some talking do.”

— As noted before, WWE will be launching their “Mixed Match Challenge” that will commence on January 16 following Smackdown Live. It will air exclusively on Facebook’s new Watch platform.

— Questions were brought up on what would happen to 205 Live as it is currently occupying the 10 PM ET timeslot post-Smackdown that will now be used by the Mixed Match Challenge.

— According to sources, for the 12 weeks that the Mixed Match challenge tag team matches will air, WWE will be pushing the start time of 205 Live back to 1030 PM ET.

— WWE.com updated their story on Dean Ambrose’s arm injury earlier today, stating the following:

“An MRI has shown suspicion for a high-grade triceps tendon injury, possibly a tear, so he is undergoing surgical exploration and most likely surgical repair of the torn triceps tendon,” WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann told the website “That surgery will be happening later this evening, and we should have some further updates either later tonight or tomorrow morning as to what the findings were, what the structures that were damaged were, and also a timeline for recovery.”

— While WWE has not given a timetable for his return, surgery for a triceps injury involving a torn tendon will usually sideline an athlete for several months, so unless there is good news during the surgery (such as the tendon was not actually torn), Ambrose is not likely to be back until well into 2018.

During Monday night’s episode of WWE RAW, which was the first show of the new year, the rules for the first-ever all-women’s Royal Rumble match were revealed.

RAW General Manager Kurt Angle noted during the show that the women’s Royal Rumble match will feature the same rules as the traditional men’s Royal Rumble matches of the past.

Angle confirmed that the match will feature 30 women Superstars and that they must be thrown over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor to be eliminated.

As previously reported, Angle also confirmed that the winner of the women’s Royal Rumble match will receive a shot at either the RAW or SmackDown Live Women’s Championships at WrestleMania 34.

As noted, Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Stephanie McMahon was in California earlier this week doing promotional work ahead of WWE’s upcoming RAW 25th Anniversary show later this month.

One of the stops the two made was at the Television Critics Association Winter Tour event on Tuesday, where Triple H and Stephanie McMahon took questions from those in attendance.

The folks from The Wrap asked HHH if there is any type of exception in WWE’s strict policy that would allow SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan return to the ring to compete again.

“There can be no exception medically,” Triple H said. “If the belief is that he’s not healthy enough and there’s a risk [for him] to perform, then I don’t know why you’d allow him to step into the ring unless it can be proven otherwise. There will be no exceptions. We have some of the best medical people in the world that work for us. Our wellness policy, our concussion programming, our protocols — I’ll put them up there against any on the planet.”

Triple H continued, “That is a new science in a way, too. So we’re gonna look at it from all aspects, but the medical experts will make the determination as to whether he can ever step into that ring or not. Look, personally for him, I know it would be something he would love to do, and part of me feels like I hope he has that opportunity. But at the same point in time, he’s married and has a child. Certainly, [we put] the human being first.”

Daniel Bryan, who as noted, currently serves as WWE’s on-air General Manager for the SmackDown Live brand, last wrestled in April of 2015. He announced his in-ring retirement from pro wrestling in February of 2016, however since that moment, he has talked on multiple occasions about his desire — and intentions — to possibly return to the ring for another match before all is said and done.

  • Update: More Evidence WWE COULD BE Moving To FOX!

Sergio Perez was pleased with his P5 qualifying performance in Bahrain, but the Mexican will be on his own at the start on Sunday to fend off his midfield rivals after Racing Point teammate Lance Stroll failed to make the top-ten.

Steady and consistent as usual, Perez’s path to Saturday’s shootout was drama-free. On his final run, the Racing Point charger came up just 0.048s short from pipping Red Bull’s Alex Albon for P4.

Perez pointed to Sakhir’s third sector as where he lost the precious time over his rival.

“I lost some time on the entry to Turn 13,” Perez told Sky F1 as he described his Q3 lap.

“As soon as I brake I try to turn in and have a little correction on the steering wheel. The power was a little hard as well.

“After qualifying it is always easy to see [where I could have improved]. But I’m still pleased.

“It was definitely a strong performance today. I think what really made our qualifying was the fact that we managed to get through in Q1 with one set.

“So having two sets in Q3 I think we had the performance to get the maximum out of the car.”

Despite his strong showing, Perez downplayed the relevance of a good starting position in Bahrain.

“Its’ very important tomorrow to have consistent pace throughout the stints, so that will be the key tomorrow.

“I am pretty confident and think we have a good car underneath us, so I’m looking forward to it.

On the other side of Racing Point’s garage, Stroll was always going to be hard-pressed to follow up his remarkable pole in Turkey by another shocker in Bahrain.

However, the Canadian’s P2 performance in Q3 augured for at least a safe passage into the top-ten shootout.

It didn’t happen however, with Stroll suffering a setback following an erroneous tyre choice by his team.

“We had the wrong tyres on the car,” Stroll explained. “But it was nobody’s fault.

“I think there was a miscommunication on timing. I thought we would have time for two runs [in Q2] so we only had time for one run and it was on an old set of mediums because we used one set in Q1 and did a lap before the red flag.

“Then we went back on the same set after. The others had a new set to use so there was no chance to even get close. Unfortunately, that was a bad call.”

There’s a small silver lining however associated with Stroll’s plight.

“The positive to take is that from P13 on the grid we have a free tyre choice,” he said.

“It’s possible to overtake here and strategy is important, so we can make progress. We can aim for the points and I’m happy with the pace of the car, so it’s all to play for tomorrow in the race.”
