CM Punk's UFC Debut To Be Pushed Back To 2016?

December 14, 2020 | News | No Comments

CM Punk appeared on the Anik and Florian podcast on Tuesday explained why he’s fine if his UFC debut takes place in 2016. Punk said:

“I’m super OK with it if my accountant is. I know Duke has told me, and I think he’s been public with it, that he would like a full 12 months before he signed off on me fighting. I’ve had zero talks with Dana [White] or Lorenzo [Fertitta] or Joe Silva – anybody – about an opponent, about a date. I’m thankful for that because there’s zero pressure on that, too. I think a lot of people are antsy. They’re saying on Twitter, ‘Ah, you’re never going to fight.’ This was just announced in what? November? December? I’ve been training full-time for like six months. As bad as I have the itch to get in there, like I said, I want to be as prepared as I possibly can be. I wouldn’t be upset if it got pushed into 2016.”

After busting his ass in the gym all year, Punk says his UFC debut will hopefully be the start of a career, not a one-and-done.

“I’m also looking at the big picture; this isn’t a one-and-done thing for me. I’m not looking to fight just once, win, lose or draw. This is something I’m training for, and I feel like it would be a super waste of time if I was just training for one fight or anything like that, if I wasn’t just making a career out of it. Getting beat up in the gym every day wouldn’t be worth it in the big picture. I’m not saying I’m going to make a title run or anything like that, but I’m also – I’m looking to maximize my time here. If I wind up fighting in 2016, I’m not going to be upset about it.”

UPDATE: CM Punk Gives SPECIFIC Timetable For His UFC Debut!

USA Today’s Brian Truitt recently spoke with Triple H, Booker T and Chris Jericho about the return of Tough EnoughThe full interview can be found at this link.

During the interview, Triple H spoke about taking the show to the next level:

“Our athletes and performers make what we do look very easy because they’re very, very good at it. People lose perspective of how difficult it is. You ostensibly have the opportunity to see an icon 20 years from now at Wrestlemania where you can say, ‘I remember seeing the day that they walked into the Performance Center and ran drills and threw up in the garbage can.'”

Triple H also addressed the most important quality in a potential superstar, their charisma:

“It’s the hardest thing to teach. It’s that guy who walks in the door and everybody stops and says, ‘Who’s that?’ It’s the girl who walks in and doesn’t have to be the hottest chick, but there’s something about her that you’re just like, ‘Wow, look at her.’ “

The new series of “Tough Enough” premieres tonight at 8pm EST on the USA Network and will also be available on the WWE YouTube channel at the same time.

Details On New E! Reality Show Starring Kelly Kelly

December 14, 2020 | News | No Comments

E! issued the following press release on Tuesday:

INTRODUCING THE “WAGS” (WIVES AND GIRLFRIENDS OF SPORTS STARS) FROM E!’S NEW SERIES PREMIERING TUESDAY, AUGUST 18TH AT 10:00PM ET/PT

Los Angeles, CA – July 7, 2015 – E! takes a wild ride into the world of some of today’s hottest professional athletes from the perspective of the women who stand by their side, otherwise known as WAGS (Wives and Girlfriends of Sports Stars). These WAGS are playing the most competitive sport out there: getting and keeping that pro-athlete man. As part of an elite, exclusive group, the WAGS are close friends who are bound together by a strict hierarchy, unspoken rules and plenty of drama – and those who have the coveted ring and a husband with a contract are the ones with all the power! As in sports, this game is all about getting that “W” and this pack knows how to play the field… Jump into the competitive, fast-paced, glamorous world of “WAGS” when the new series premieres on E! Tuesday, August 18th at 10:00pm ET/PT.

The WAGS life has plenty of perks, but the diamonds and mansions don’t come easy. These women are constantly strategizing and fine-tuning their playbooks to keep their place in the line-up among the other WAGS, and to maintain the high-profile celebrity lifestyle that comes along with that role. In this 8-episode series, E!’s WAGS are faced with tough decisions as players change teams, forcing some to decide whether or not to uproot their lives and move across the country. Additionally these women are constantly working to find ways to balance their own careers and interests with the demands of their partner’s sports schedules. And while one WAG is planning her magical wedding, another one’s fiancé is getting cold feet. E!’s WAGS are bonded together by long-time friendships, but rank has its privileges in this group and the competition to rise to the top and be “queen” of the WAGS brings plenty of drama.

Get the stats on E!’s “WAGS:”

Sasha Gates

Sasha is the queen WAG of the group, married to a 5-time All Pro Player from the San Diego Chargers who has a multi-million dollar contract. She was featured in music videos until she met her husband, but now she’s a doting wife and mother to a little girl with another one on the way. However, Sasha still has her own interests as she starts looking into a music career. She also has a children’s clothing line called Wittle Ones, with best friend/business partner Autumn Aijrotutu, which features cute football clothes for kids.

Autumn Ajirotutu

Autumn met Seyi Ajirotutu of the Philadelphia Eagles in college, and the two are now married with twin girls. After leaving the San Diego Chargers, Seyi recently signed with the Eagles and now Autumn is faced with having to decide whether to uproot her family and turn her life upside down to move to Philly. Autumn has always loved to party and is finding it difficult at times to transition from that life to being a new mom.

Barbie Blank

Barbie is engaged to Sheldon Souray (most recently of the Anaheim Ducks) and the two are actively planning their January 2016 wedding in Cabo! Barbie is a former WWE Diva known as “Kelly Kelly,” who made her debut at only 19 years old. She performed from 2006-2012, which included being the Diva’s Champion in 2011. As a former athlete herself, she’s not a “typical” WAG, but with the pending wedding, Barbie is very excited to move up the hierarchy chain and legitimize her WAG status.

Ashley North

Ashley North is a WAGS descendant (her father was a Major League Baseball player who played for the SF Giants, Oakland A’s and Chicago Cubs), who gets a lot of great advice from her dad on how to navigate this competitive world, including an emphatic warning not to date athletes! However, Ashley chose not to heed his advice – she has been with Dashon Goldson of the Washington Redskins for over 11 years and the two have a young daughter together named Charly. They have been engaged for a year, but Dashon’s hesitation with locking in a wedding date is a serious cause for concern. Outside of her “role” as a WAG and mother, Ashley is trying to balance her own career as a celebrity stylist whose clients have included Kevin Hart, Justin Bieber and J Cole among others.

Nicole Williams

Nicole has been dating Larry English of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four years now, and she is ready for that ring! She is a gorgeous, successful working model who is always on the road traveling for jobs, having modeled for Old Navy, Gucci, La Senza, Macy’s and more – she was even tapped to appear in Robin Thicke’s “Treats” video. While she prides herself with having her own life, Nicole tries to keep Larry on a short leash as she struggles with the “jersey chasers” who follow these NFL players everywhere they go!

Natalie Halcro and Olivia Pierson

Natalie and Olivia are gorgeous, cousins and best friends who launched a beauty and fashion blog together that proved to be so successful, they are taking it to the next level – but mixing family and business is always a challenge! Natalie’s boyfriend is Shaun Phillips who has played for the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. They have been together for 2 1/2 years and while Shaun is looking to take things to the next level, Natalie is very independent and has to figure out how to balance this relationship with her own career plans, especially now that she has reached “Instafame” with a million Instagram followers! Olivia is single and a hopeless romantic, but will only dates athletes. She has been linked to players from the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Clippers!

Don’t miss a minute of the action as E! gives you a front row seat to the real competition when WAGS premieres Tuesday, August 18th at 10:00pm ET/PT. And be sure to follow the show handle @WAGSonE and join the conversation using the hashtag #WAGS.

The Undertaker Kicks Off RAW

This week’s post-Battleground edition of WWE RAW kicks off with a gong. And another. The lights go out, the smoke starts pouring out of the stage and finally, he emerges.

The Undertaker slowly makes his way out to the stage to a huge pop from the fans. Michael Cole points out that this is a rare appearance on RAW for The Undertaker.

The announcers put over The Dead Man as he slowly makes his way to the ring. The fans break out into “Under-Taker! Under-Taker!” chants as his music cuts off. We see he has a mic in his hand.

Taker growls and then begins speaking. He says he stands here tonight a relentless, remorseless, cold-blooded, vengeful, grim-reaper. The fans cheer. He says streaks are made to be broken.

The Dead Man says Lesnar had to continuously, week-after-week, month-after-month, remind everyone of his greatest accomplishment, and now, he says — enough! He says Lesnar has turned him into a raging inferno.

He continues by saying last night was his true resurrection. He tells Lesnar he can’t kill what won’t die. He says unleashed forces will now set their careers towards new destiny’s and he will challenge his mortality. He will conquer what has yet to be conquered.

Taker says in the end, just like all living things, be it man or beast, you will rest …in …peace. He rolls his eyes back in his head, the gong hits and his music plays as the lights dim and turn blue again.

Backstage: Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

Backstage, HHH and Steph are happy with what’s going on between Undertaker and Lesnar, talking about how they’ve already got their SummerSlam main event and it’s going to be even bigger than their first match. Steph says she’s gonna get the promotional ball rolling. HHH says he’s gonna call Heyman and tell him that Heyman and Lesnar aren’t needed here tonight, because Lesnar and Taker under the same roof could ruin their plans for SummerSlam.

The announcers break down some of what happened at Battleground and then announce some matches for tonight, including Charlotte vs. Brie Bella — which is up next! We head to our first commercial break of the evening.

Charlotte vs. Brie Bella

When we return from the break, we see Tamina, Naomi and Sasha Banks at ringside. They will be joining the gang on commentary for this one.

Out first comes the trio of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Paige. As they make their way to the ring we see a backstage clip from last night that features Ric Flair hugging and kissing Charlotte.

Finally, Team Bella — Nikki, Brie and Alicia Fox make their way to the ring. Charlotte and Brie Bella are set to go one-on-one in our first match of the evening here tonight on RAW.

The bell sounds and here we go. Early on, the fans are super into Charlotte, who is doing a lot of cool athletic moves. Naomi has her feet up on the table during commentary, as we keep shooting back to the announce table to check in with that Diva trio.

Meanwhile, back in the ring, Brie hits a missile dropkick off the top rope for a near fall. Charlotte hits some chops and is now going for the Figure-8. Nikki hops on the apron for the distraction. Charlotte knocks her off. Charlotte spears Brie in the ring. Now she applies the Figure-8 and Brie taps out.

Winner: Charlotte

Backstage: Triple H & The Miz

Backstage, we see Triple H on his cell phone. HHH is talking for a while when The Miz walks in. HHH ignores him for a while and keeps talking. Finally, HHH acknowledges Miz and within seconds, makes a match between Miz and Big Show for tonight. We head to another commercial break.

– As noted, Triple H and Corey Graves apparently filmed with Lemmy of the band Motorhead on Tuesday. It looks like the band may be playing at NXT Takeover: London on December 16th. Triple H posted the following teaser today:

– Adam Rose posted the following on Twitter regarding the passing of his sister. Rose is in South Africa for the first time in five years for her funeral.

Sebastian Vettel says his performance in Sunday’s Abu Dhabi GP is “nothing to mention”, superseded by the emotions of his farewell to Ferrari and the feelings towards those he will miss.

Vettel concluded his final race with the Scuderia a lowly P14, a position that perhaps reflected a difficult back half of the 2020 season.

The German driver enjoyed a good first stint that saw him race among the top-ten just ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc as the pair pressed on during an early safety car period.

But both drivers eventually fell down the order later in the evening after their switch to fresh rubber, with Leclerc clocking in P13 with Vettel two spots behind.

The performance was uneventful, as Vettel described it himself, but the emotions of the day were certainly palpable for the future Aston Martin Racing driver.

“For sure, it was an emotional day, with the mechanic waving goodbye on the grid,” he said. “I felt there was just a different dynamic and tension there.

“I mean the result is nothing to mention, the race is nothing to mention, but yeah, I really enjoyed the little gestures starting from the beginning of the weekend.

“The mechanics, the engineers – all these people that I worked with for so long in those years, and so hard. I’m sad for the guys, I will miss them, but also obviously happy to embark on a new journey.”

Leclerc, who sported a special lid in Abu Dhabi that paid tribute to his teammate, swapped helmets with his teammate after the race, conceding that his presence alongside Vettel at Ferrari in the past two season had helped him develop into a better driver.

“It’s been great to have Seb on the other side of the garage for two years,” said the Monegasque.

“He’s an amazing person, an amazing driver to, and he pushed me to perform better and to improve.”

The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast recently spoke with WWE Hall Of Famer Harley Race about his legendary career. Below are some highlights:

On what students take away from a Harley Race Wrestling Camp: “They are going to learn how to take care of themselves and then how to perform inside that squared circle. After that we start sticking them into the ring and see how they would look for the public. When you’ve got the physical side and that’s pretty much all the way down then the other parts will come along to you fairly easy.”

On heat with Ric Flair during his career and not wanting to drop the NWA Title: “Overall, Flair and I have had a hellishly active part of wrestling. He knows and I know that we are too old to want to get involved with this stuff now. In 1983, Flair was just starting to really get involved and I was at that point in time thinking that that he wasn’t ready but once he got really involved in the championship part of it (the business) he came along to be one of the best ever. Flair proved to me that he was a good hand in the ring and he was in there with the absolute very best so it was all pretty easy from there.”

On memories of Dusty Rhodes: “Dusty was probably one of the best interview people ever in wrestling. He could talk about anything on the face of God’s green earth and make it sound like it was extremely important. Overall, Dusty could perform in that ring as well as just about anybody. I never really had a bad performance with Dusty in any of the matches that we ever had. There are very few people that I can say that about.”

On working against Terry Funk and Dory Funk Jr. and if he has a preference between the two: “Dory was very, very good in the ring. He and Terry both were great in there but I can’t mention one without mentioning the other. Between the two of them it was just the flip of a coin, with Dory you could have a little bit better of a wrestling match. Terry was good for wrestling but he was very very good at scrambling.”

On bodyslamming Andre The Giant: “The only reservation I ever had was to have everything in the right spot at the right time and to be able to come up with him. Because you were lifting the world’s biggest athlete. It was a hell of a lot better to be on the same side as him.”

On the WWF’s national expansion and invading “his territory” during the 1980s: “By the time they had done the expansion you knew that they were going around the whole entire country. I didn’t want to get involved in fights with them or against them. I just wanted to stay Harley Race in the wrestling world, worldwide and that is what I did for a long time.”
