TNA Announces January's UK Shows Will Be TV Tapings

December 12, 2020 | News | No Comments

TNA announced on Wednesday afternoon that all 3 shows on January’s Maximum Impact UK tour will be double-header television tapings. While this is seems like encouraging news on the surface, it does not mean that TNA has a TV deal in 2016 or that the shows will even air in the United States. Here’s the official announcement:

Moments ago during the Bound For Glory broadcast on Challenge TV in the UK and Ireland, TNA President Dixie Carter revealed the three dates on the January 2016 TNA MAXIMUM IMPACT 8 Tour in Manchester, London and Birmingham will be double IMPACT WRESTLING tapings.

Nine additional Stars and Knockouts have also been added to the Tour, including British favorite Grado, Tag Team Champions The Wolves – Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards, former TNA World Champion Mr. Anderson, X-Division Champion Tigre Uno, India’s Mahabali Shera and Knockouts Champion Gail Kim, Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne.

The 2016 TNA MAXIMUM IMPACT 8 Tour includes stops in:

Manchester on January 29
London on January 30
Birmingham on January 31

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

WWE HOF Class Of 2016:

“Obviously, the Freebirds will be getting a great deal of support because it’s Dallas and their rivalry with the Von Erich’s there was the stuff of legend at one point in time. The key is to monitor how many inductees are being presented posthumously. That will always be an issue that WWE has to consider along with gender and ethnicity. I’d submit that Sting would be a great HOF candidate this coming year.”

SportsCenter Covering WWE:

“Smart move by WWE aligning with ESPN. Creates awareness to a new, sports centric audience and may entice displaced fans, and there are plenty of those out there, back to the brand.”

Jason Jordan & Chad Gable

“Really liking the up-side of NXT’s Jason Jordan and Chad Gable either as a team or positioned as individuals. Seems to me that Jordan, former Indiana Hoosier heavyweight, has been ready for a good while. Nonetheless all talents ar better suited to stay in NXT until WWE creative has a grand way to introduce them. In today’s marketplace one’s introduction and their first 6 months of their call up are essential.”

* STEVE AUSTIN Still Advertised For Monday’s RAW – Will He Be There Or Not ?

The official WWE website has a new article up where WWE Hall Of Famer Howard Finkel and ECW Original Joey Styles offer their predictions for tonight’s WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Below are the predictions “The Fink” offered for the Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt and Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar matches.

On Reigns vs. Wyatt: “Their differences are varied by nature, but their goals are similar in scope: To do a number on their opponent. With no Wyatt Family members running interference, the advantage should favor Reigns. But I look for Wyatt to turn it up a few notches and score the victory! WINNER: Bray Wyatt”

On Undertaker vs. Lesnar: “There is no love lost between these two iconic figures. When the dust settles, Brock Lesnar will come out the victor, in what should be a match for the ages! WINNER: Brock Lesnar”

Check out more predictions from “The Fink,” as well as Joey Styles, by reading the full article at WWE.com.

Tyler Breeze appeared on the Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast to discuss his role in NXT and #1 contender Apollo Crews. Here are the highlights of what he said about:

Getting opportunities in NXT:

“You could really look at it from a couple of different perspectives. [The way] I like to look at it, basically, is those are opportunities. Anytime they are going to say, ‘hey, we’re going to put you on NXT [TakeOver]: Brooklyn in front of 16,000 people with a legend like Jushin Thunder Liger,’ it’s not like you’re going to be like, ‘ah, damn!’ That’s something that’s really cool that nobody before me got to wrestle Liger in a WWE ring. I’m the only person and the first person to ever do that, so that’s an opportunity for me. It doesn’t really matter what the end result is.”

Apollo Crews:

“Crews is someone who nobody has really seen a lot of him yet. He’s brand new. He’s fresh to the company and he’s fresh to the audience. And the audience wants to see more from him. They want to see him in a spot to [see] ‘does he have what it takes to be in a 10 minute match, a 15 minute match, a 20 minute match?’ and if I’m the person that has the opportunity to show everybody that, then I kind of take pride in that. That’s another opportunity for me too. As much as it highlights him, I think it highlights me as well.”

Earlier this week, former WCW star Bill Goldberg spoke to TMZ Sports and surprised many fans by saying that WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin would purposely not drink his beers when celebrating in the ring during his WWE career.

Goldberg claimed that Austin would let the beer spill all over himself and the ring. Meanwhile, he proudly touted the fact that unlike Austin, he always drank his beers.

On Tuesday, TMZ Sports released a new video interview with Austin. In the video, which you can watch above, “The Rattlesnake” said Goldberg is “full of sh*t.”

Austin admitted that he spilled about half of the beer he drank all over himself, but that he absolutely drank the rest, noting that he left the ring with a buzz on many occasions.

TNA star Ethan Carter III recently spoke with Busted Open Radio about what makes him such a good heel in the business right now.

During the interview, EC3 revealed his take on the reason he’s an exceptional heel compared to other “bad guys” in the business.

“I just don’t do cool moves. I know what you guys are saying and it’s very difficult, in this day and age especially, because some of the audience is – they like their villains, they like their antagonists. Probably because when you play that role, you can come out of your shell a lot more and maybe – I don’t want to say be more entertaining – be outside yourself more, be out there more. Some fans attract to that, but when people boo me, that was a compliment because I work to get those….Most of the time the fans enjoy booing me and it’s not negative ‘They don’t want to see me’. It’s they want to see me get what’s coming to me and I think that’s really important.”

He also shared his thoughts on why heels in wrestling aren’t getting as much heat as they probably should.

“I think a lot of times a lot of guys coming up – the guys that you’re supposed to cheer, the guys that you’re supposed to boo – the guys that you’re supposed to boo are doing heroic things and very impressive things and it’s hard to dislike a guy who’s beating everybody cleanly with his finish. It’s hard to dislike a guy who’s spouting off funny comments when he grabs a guy in a hold, you know? It’s hard to dislike that because it’s entertaining. It’s very hard to dislike cool-ass moves because they’re cool-ass moves and cool-ass moves are cool. If you’re an antagonist that’s cool, it kind of defeats the purpose a little bit so for me, personally, I try to stay away from that. I try to see where other heels, bad guys, villains are going and what they’re doing and I just try to be the opposite of it as much as possible. But even for me, when I’m doing promos, wrestling matches, it comes to a time where I have to do things to at least have some credibility attached to what I’m doing. It’s a very slippery slope as well, but I just got to find the right balance, I think.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross took part in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” chat this week. Below are some of the highlights.

On his WWF heel turn years ago:

“Creative thought it was the right move to make turning me heel but they were wrong. fans did not buy it and I did not execute it well.”

On his thoughts when Mick Foley fell off of Hell in a Cell:

“I though that he had broken his back or worse including being maimed.”

On crazy camera zooms on WWE RAW:

“It’s apparently someone’s artsy idea to upgrade the show. Epic Fail.”

On why he isn’t currently in WWE:

“WWE has spoken and the do not want me on their broadcasts. End of story. No worries here. I’m on PPV Sunday in Phoenix for URshow.tv and I hope that you will give us a shot. It will be a helluva, unpredictable show.”

  • Former UFC Champ Calls Conor McGregor A “Dumb F*ck” After Watching Diaz Fight …

NXT Women’s Champion Bayley recently spoke with The Daily Record to promote the upcoming NXT U.K. tour. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On taking pride in the responsibility of being a role model:

“I hope I am an inspiration, as it’s something I’ve always wanted to be. When I was younger, I had people like Lita, Ivory and Molly Holly to look up to and I try to think of how they made me feel. No matter what I do in the sport, whether it’s during matches, or outside the ring, I’m always conscious of putting on a good image. I see lots of young girls dressing up like me and I get all these tweets saying I’m an inspiration. It’s a great feeling, so it’s really important not to let anyone down.”

On the reach of WWE NXT and her newfound popularity:

“I’m noticing the more we travel outside of Florida, the more I’m noticing the impact we’re having. Like I’m touching people outside of my own state, which is crazy. I’m seeing my Hugger shirts all over the world, on everyone from little kids to grown men and women. When I started seeing that everywhere, that was when I realized something was happening. It’s really cool.”

On her cheerfulness coming natural because she loves her job:

“It’s easy for me as I really feel like a little kid when I walk out on stage. Even if I’m feeling tired, sore or beat up backstage and am thinking ‘I don’t know if I can get through this one’, as soon as I walk out there, the adrenaline just pours out of me. It’s not even something I have to think about, it’s automatic. Once I see the fans and that wrestling ring, it’s like a switch. I just love it.”
