The tradition continued on Sunday night, as half-way through the WrestleMania 33 broadcast on pay-per-view and the WWE Network, the 2017 class of WWE Hall Of Fame inductees were brought out on stage to be honored in front of the WWE Universe.

Featurred above courtesy of WWE’s official YouTube channel is footage of the WrestleMania 33 segment that saw Kurt Angle, Diamond Dallas Page, Rick Rude, The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express, Teddy Long, Beth Phoenix and Eric LeGrand recognized by a packed house at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Sunday night.

Additionally, you can check out highlights below of this year’s WWE Hall Of Fame induction ceremony from this past Friday night in Orlando, Florida.

  • As far as Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns goes, the feeling is that Strowman has to go over because WWE is setting him up in a storyline with Brock Lesnar in the summer and he’ll need to come across as being strong enough to be that type of challenger.

  • The speculation is that if Braun wins, it might be due to some sort of outside interference which would accomplish Strowman winning but also protecting Reigns as he is ultimately being built up to face and beat Lesnar at next year’s WrestleMania.

  • If this happens, it could also segue to Reigns feuding with whomever interferes in his match, and if AJ Styles moves to Raw as expected, it’s possible he will be that guy. This would tie up Reigns for a few months away from the Universal Title picture.

WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair recently spoke with the Metro U.K. website for an interview. Below are some of the highlights.

On the upcoming WWE Women’s Tournament: “NXT just recruited a bunch of women who I’ve been familiar with prior to them getting signed. so right now I’m looking forward to the company highlighting them in such a big way in the tournament. I’m excited for the girls who have worked the independents to have their moment in the tournament, and it’s going to be awesome.”

On which NXT Superstars she would like to face: “There’s three girls that I really hope come up soon. Obviously the champion Asuka, but personally I know Billie Kay and Peyton Royce really well and I think they’re ready and would make a great addition. 100%, the way the carry themselves, they have a character and they have prior experience. And because they look alike, it’s an easy to story to bring them in as a tag-team.”

On Monday, WWE posted an update on the shoulder injury Ember Moon sustained, confirming that she will be out of the NXT Women’s Championship Fatal-4-Way match at the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Chicago live WWE Network special later this month.

As a result of Moon being pulled from the match due to injury, the NXT Women’s Championship will now be contested in a Triple-Threat match, as Asuka defends against Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot at the live special that goes down during WWE Payback pay-per-view weekend.

NXT TakeOver: Chicago is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 20th at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, airing live via the WWE Network.

Shoulder injury takes Ember Moon out of TakeOver: Chicago

Ember Moon’s title opportunity against NXT Women’s Champion Asuka will have to wait.

Moon suffered a grade one shoulder sprain as a result of Asuka’s ambush during last week’s No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal and will not be able to compete at NXT TakeOver: Chicago on May 20, WWE.com has learned. Doctors estimate that Moon will require four to five weeks to recover from the injury.

Along with Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross, Moon was scheduled to challenge Asuka in an NXT Women’s Championship Fatal 4-Way Match in Chicago. NXT General Manager William Regal announced the title bout after Asuka crashed last week’s No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal and brutalized the three finalists: Moon, Riot and Cross.

During the turmoil, The Empress of Tomorrow pushed Moon off the top turnbuckle before launching her through the ropes, causing Moon to fall hard on the floor.

More details are expected to be released this Wednesday on NXT.

Renault team principal Cyril Abiteboul has stated that the French manufacturer will not accept new proposals to converge engine development in F1.

Red Bull has been arguing for the approach as it seeks to find a way forward following the announcement that its own engine supplier Honda is quitting the sport at the end of 2021.

The team is considering buying the existing hybrid power unit technology and bringing it in house, but doesn’t want to get involved in a costly engine ‘arms race’ with Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault.

Ferrari has signalled that it might be open to a strategy of engine performance convergence, but Mercedes has called the proposal ‘insulting’.

And it’s clear that Abiteboul is just as unhappy with the suggestion, saying that it strikes at the very heart of what they consider Formula 1 to be all about.

“There has been a meeting where we all expressed our position,” Abiteboul told Sky Sports F1. “We’ve not changed our position.

“There is a set of regulations,” he continued. “We are ready for some sort of compromise, in particular in the engine freeze because we accept convergence is happening, so spending big money is crazy.

“Having said that there is clearly a line. We will not turn our backs on 70 years of competition on engines, engine development and performance.

“For us the engine as a performance differentiator is at the core of F1. It’s what it means for us. We will not cross that line, that is very clear.”

That said, Abiteboul acknowledged that the situation regarding the supply of engines in F1 is a serious matter. Red Bull has threatened to quit the sport if it can’t find a suitable replacement for Honda.

“We need to find a solution for Red Bull” he said. The current sporting rules would oblige Renault to supply engines to Red Bull and its sister squad AlphaTauri if called upon.

But Red Bull split from Renault in 2018 in favour of their short lived but successful partnership with Honda, making the prospect of a shotgun reunion somewhat unappealing to Christian Horner, Helmut Marko and team owner Dietrich Mateschitz – if not quite so much to Abiteboul.

“There is already a solution in the regulation,” responded Abiteboul. “We never say never. In particular we have always said we would comply with the regulations. If we have the obligation, we will do so.”

But changing the rules to allow Red Bull to create an in-house power unit development programme would be another matter entirely.

“If they can do it with Honda then all the best, but we should not go further than that,” he said. “[But] if we need to write in the regulations that Red Bull should have the best engine, that’s something different. But I think this is not what’s at stake here.”

In fact Abiteboul was sounding fairly upbeat about the prospect of having Red Bull back in the Renault fold again – this time as an equal partner.

“It would be good to have a partner team rather than a customer team because you see that F1 is shaping up with these groups of teams,” he said. “There are probably some opportunities there whether they be financial, commercial, political or technical.

“But I think also we need to accept that train has gone,” he admitted, acknowledging that recent uncertainties about Renault’s own long-time future in the sport had played a part.

“There was a point when there was a lot of question marks regarding Renault’s commitment to F1,” he acknowledged. “We were not really in a position to secure a long-term customer or partner team.

“[Now] we need to see when the next train is going to pass,” he added. “For me, that’s not going to be massively a job added to our plan for the future.”
