It looks like third generational talent and former WWE developmental Diva Lacey Von Erich, daughter of the late “Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich, will be posing for Playboy Magazine.

The 22 year old blond beauty posted a message on her official MySpace on 2/4 that said: “Playboy next Thurs. at 12:15! Wish me luck! I’m scared !!” “Next Thursday” is today (2/12).

Lacey was signed to a WWE developmental deal back in August of 2007 and worked a few dates with Florida Championship Wrestling. She was released from her WWE developmental deal in late 2007. Since then she has been modeling and worked a few independent shows.

— The official website of WGN America is running a contest for a trip to two to WrestleMania XXV in Houston, Texas. The contest ends two weeks from new on March 8th with runner-ups receiving copies of WWE’s Legends of WrestleMania video game. To enter the contest, click here.

WGN America is also running ads on television for the contest, as well as the new “WWE Superstars” show. According to the ad, the show will debut on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. The ad says Superstars from RAW, SmackDown and ECW will be on the program.

As reported earlier today, the WWE Draft scheduled for April 13th at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia will be a three-hour program. Due to the three-hour Draft, WWE probably won’t be able to tape a slate of matches for the show’s debut. If that’s the case, the first “Superstars” taping will take place the very next week when Raw is at the London O2 Arena in the United Kingdom.

The new “WWE Superstars” show is expected to be a “C-Show,” so it will likely feature Superstars having trouble getting ring time on the televised Raw, SmackDown and ECW programs. On Friday, we did a report listing the WWE Superstars who have competed in two matches or less on television so far this year. To recap, here is a list of the Superstars and Divas you can probably expect to regularly see on the program:

Superstars: Charlie Haas, Curt Hawkins, DJ Gabriel, Dolph Ziggler, Festus, Goldust, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Hurricane Helms, Jamie Noble, Jesse, Jimmy Wang Yang, Kizarny, Kung Fu Naki, Manu, Ricky Ortiz, Sim Snuka, and Zack Ryder.

Divas: Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Candice Michelle, Katie Lea Burchill, Maria, Mickie James, Natalya, and Nikki Bella.

With the new “WWE Superstars” show taking place, it should also be taken into account that WWE will likely ease up on calling up developmental talent to the main roster (especially those on the bubble) because there should be less pressure to instantly succeed. WWE can tryout out new wrestlers and gimmicks before deciding whether to regularly feature them on the main shows or not.

No word yet on who the commentators for the show will be. WWE has former Velocity announcer Josh Mathews calling matches in developmental promotion Florida Championship Wrestling, so if WWE has plans to use someone new, he looks to be the best bet. As far as the ring announcer is concerning, it will probably be Lilian Garcia as the show is being taped before Raw and she’s already available in the building. Garcia handled the ring announcing duties for WWE Heat through the show’s demise last May.

— This past Friday, E! aired the The Soup’s 2009 Awards Show. A heavy-breathing, face-to-face backstage segment from a November episode of Raw with Randy Orton, Manu, and Cody Rhodes was featured as a nominee for the following category: “Best Display of Homoeroticism By A Guy Who Is Totally Not Gay… Seriously… Come On You Guys… I Mean It.” The segment featured an intense staredown between Rhodes, Manu (breathing heavily), and Orton. Unfortunately, the segment didn’t win. The winner was Chet from “The Real World” who denied being gay. He was shown wearing a pink pop-up collar that he made on a sewing machine, followed by a roommate singing, “I knew he was gay all along.”

This is the fourth time in which the backstage segment has been featured on an episode of The Soup. You can see the original clip at the following link.

Former wrestling star Jeff Gaylord was recently arrested in connection with a January 14, 2009 bank robbery at a U.S. Bank in Monument, Colorado as well as an attempted robbery at a branch in Castle Rock on December 22, 2008. In both cases he entered the banks with a disguise on, but following the second encounter, witnesses got a hold of his license plate number, leading officers to his home. Authorities arrested the former wrestling star at his residence the next day following a two-hour interrogation.

Gaylord was spotted entering the Castle Rock branch a second time on New Year’s Eve, but left the area when approached by a store employee.

The former wrestling star reportedly told investigators his crime spree was driven by “personal economic conditions.”

Gaylord has a record of previous bank robbery attempts. In October 2001, he entered a bank in Aurora, Colorado, approached a teller, and demanded money. Believing he had a gun, the teller removed more than five thousand dollars from his drawer and placed it on the counter, which the former wrestling star took. Four months later, Gaylord entered the same bank and committed an identical robbery. He pled guilty to two counts of committing bank robbery.

For more on Gaylord’s arrest, and to see his mug shot, click here.

Gaylord was the prototypical 1980s wrestling star as he was a massive, muscle-bound wrestler complete with a mullet and limited wrestling ability. He wrestled from 1985 through 1997, competing in a number of regional and independent promotions in North America including the Universal Wrestling Federation, World Class Championship Wrestling and the United States Wrestling Association.

Despite his hulking physique (6-foot 3-inches tall and 250 to 280 pounds of solid muscle), he never managed to land a full-time job with the World Wrestling Federation or World Championship Wrestling—which should probably be an indication of his talent. However, he made a pay-per-view appearance at the WWF’s 1993 Survivor Series as The Black Knight (alongside Barry Horowitz as The Red Knight, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine as The Blue Knight, and Shawn Michaels as the group’s captain) against the famed Hart family. Gaylord was pinned by Owen Hart, becoming the first man eliminated.

Although originally scheduled to be captained by Jerry “The King” Lawler, Shawn Michaels was named as a last minute replacement due to Lawler’s legal problems preventing him from appearing at the pay-per-view. At the time, Lawler was indicted for raping and sodomizing a 15-year-old girl, who later admitted she had lied about the incident.

— I received several live reports saying that Rey Mysterio was injured over the weekend at a WWE house show. Mysterio went for his 619 finisher but botched the spot and fell through the ropes to the arena floor below. He appeared to have tweaked his knee in the process. Thankfully he did not sustain a serious injury and he wrestled the following night (last night) in San Angelo, Texas.

— John Cena is scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Thursday night to hype the premiere of his new film, “12 Rounds”.

— Speaking of Cena, he made an unadvertised appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He appeared as a security guard in the opening skit with Tracy Morgan.

— According to the official website of the America Airlines Center, two big matches are scheduled to take place at next week’s Raw in Dallas. John Cena will be taking on Big Show with Chris Jericho squaring off against Jerry “The King” Lawler.

The show will be a Supershow, so in addition to Raw, WWE will be taping that week’s ECW and SmackDown too. However, the show is scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. local time, with Raw going live on the USA Network at 8:00 p.m., so they’re only going to have an hour to tape matches for both ECW and SmackDown.

— As a reminder, John Cena will be a guest on NBC’s new Late Night with Jimmy Fallon at 12:35 ET to promote his new movie, 12 Rounds, which hits theaters nationwide this Friday. You can also catch replays of Cena on Fox News Channel’s Hannity and G4’s Attack of the Show at 1:00 a.m. ET.

— “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s ex-wife Jeanie Clark and his daughters from England have been flown into Texas for his induction into the Hall of Fame later tonight. Clark divorced from Austin in 1999 prior to WrestleMania XV, but the two remain on amicable terms.

Austin can attribute some his success to his ex-wife as she unintentionally coined the term “Stone Cold” while they were having dinner one day in 1996. Austin had yet to drink a cup of tea and Clark advised him to drink it before it got “stone cold.” Right then and there, Clark and Austin thought “Stone Cold” would be the perfect nickname for him in WWE. At the time, both Vince McMahon and Austin were trying to brainstorm a new ring name for him as “The Ringmaster” wasn’t working out. He was offered a list of many temperature-based names, such as ‘Ice Dagger’ and ‘Chilly McFreeze’, none of which impressed Austin.

— Following Thursday’s night’s WrestleMania Axxess, a person was handing out flyers saying The Honky Tonk Man was holding a “private signing” in a hotel room at the Hyatt Regency (the WWE Travel Package hotel). The former WWE Intercontinental Champion was charging $20 for an autograph, $20 for a posed photo and $30 for an autograph and posed photo. According to some who attended the signing, it was said to be positive as The Honky Tonk Man was described as friendly with everyone who attended.

— WWE recently issued a directive prohibiting the commentators from mentioning the names of the referees during television broadcasts.

— A few comments made on commentary following the Evan Bourne vs. John Morrison match on last week’s episode of ECW were edited out of the show’s replay over the weekend (which airs on Universal HD on Saturday nights). Matt Striker used the term “match of the year candidate” with Josh Matthews calling it a “five-star match.” Both terms were stricken from the replay.

— The local promoters for the Raw brand’s tour of Mexico next month were upset with Rey Mysterio being drafted to SmackDown because they had promoted the tour around him. As a result of the protesting, Mysterio is back on the tour, as is Umaga. It remains unclear whether Umaga is heading back to Raw, as he is advertised to wrestle Mysterio on two shows even though he is a member of SmackDown. Everyone else taking part on the tour besides Mysterio is on Raw.

Former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi says that watching his son Giuliano enjoy his first outing in an F1 car at Fiorano on Monday was a moment that stirred “a lot of emotions”.

Giuliano Alesi kicked off Ferrari’s big week of testing at its test track where a total of seven drivers – including Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz – have been given the opportunity to warm up for the 2021 season onboard the Scuderia’s 2018-spec SF71H charger.

Alesi rolled out on Monday morning under his father’s watchful eye, the Ferrari emblazoned with #28, or the race number used by the veteran Grand Prix driver during his maiden season with the House of Maranello in 1991.

“It came as a surprise to me, I cannot believe he looked into the details like that,” a proud Alesi commented.

“I believe I first tested in November 1990, the 15th my fan club tells me, so it is amazing to think that he drove the car with my number 30 years later.

“It was great to see him in a Ferrari – a lot of emotions for me! – but also a feeling of responsibility of not making a mistake as he was the first one to go out and everything was very cold, and others were to drive the car.

“It was not easy for him, but everything went fantastically well, and I felt good for him.”

In his post-test comments, Giuliano Alesi said the run was the perfect way to conclude his residency with the Ferrari Driver Academy which the young F2 racer will now leave.

But the 21-year-old’s relationship with the Scuderia is not over according to his father.

“It’s the end for him with the Academy, yes, but not with Ferrari – it is still our family,” he said. “That has been very clear from Ferrari.”

— We have not seen the last of Jacqueline in TNA as company officials plan on bringing her back as a women’s wrestler in the near future.

TNA has changed course by putting talent not being used on television on restructured deals — like Jacqueline — as opposed to releasing them. The restructured deals give the wrestlers not being used more control to book themselves as they see fit (on indy shows) as opposed to management booking them and taking a percentage of the payoff.
