Two debuts have been announced for this week’s episode of 205 Live.

Ahead of taking part in the NXT Breakout Tournament, Odyssey Jones and Josh Briggs will both be making their televised WWE debuts on 205 Live this Friday night. Jones is facing Grayson Waller on the episode, while Briggs is facing Asher Hale.

WWE wrote that, to preview Jones and Briggs being in the Breakout Tournament, 205 Live is forgoing its typical 205-pound weight limit for Friday’s episode.

Jones (real name Omari Palmer) is a former offensive lineman for Syracuse University. He signed with WWE and joined the Performance Center in February 2019. Jones made his in-ring debut at an NXT house show in November of that year.

Jones wrestled in a dark match prior to last week’s SmackDown.

Briggs (real name Joshua Bruns) formerly wrestled for EVOLVE and was the last-ever EVOLVE Champion.

Trey Baxter (formerly known as Blake Christian), Carmelo Hayes (Christian Casanova), Andre Chase (Harlem Bravado), Briggs, Ikemen Jiro (Jiro “Ikemen” Kuroshio), Joe Gacy, Jones, and Duke Hudson (Brendan Vink) make up the field for this year’s NXT Breakout Tournament. The winner will receive a shot at the NXT title of their choosing.

Rhea Ripley was dethroned as NXT Women’s Champion at night-two of WWE WrestleMania 36, but she is looking at the experience with a positive attitude.

Ripley was defeated by Charlotte Flair in one of the weekends most impressive matches, but Rhea has reacted to the defeat with pride.

The former champion took to Twitter to remember back to last year where she attended her first WrestleMania, watching, stuck in a “moon boot,” as she was injured. She states that because she got to walk down as champion at WrestleMania, in her opinion, she still wins.

I attended my first ever #WrestleMania last year. I was watching from my seat stuck in a moon boot.
Today at #WrestleMania36 I got to walk down the ramp and defend my NXT Women’s Championship. If you ask me, I still win! #WWENXT

PAC remains in the #1 spot this week despite not competing, as he still holds the best singles record with the most amount of wins. Cody Rhodes, who is still out of action and technically has the same overall record as PAC, did fall one place this week. He’ll be back next Wednesday in Chicago.

Hangman Page is also down one this week after not competing. The biggest change is Jon Moxley, who used his win over Darby Allin to jump to the #2 spot this week. That also knocked Allin off the list entirely, with Kenny Omega landing at #5 coming off his win over Rey Fenix on AEW DARK.

Eric Bischoff recently spoke on the 83 Weeks Podcast where he gave his opinion on Jim Cornette’s recent NWA commentary, that led to his resignation.

Cornette had to resign from the company after his controversial comments during an episode of NWA Powerrr where he stated:

“Trevor Murdoch is the only person who can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia. Trevor Murdoch can take care of himself!”

During the podcast, Bischoff touched on those comments, stating that Cornette hasn’t moved with the times of wrestling:

“Jim is a guy that is reluctant to adapt, and it’s really unfortunate because he’s a talented guy, he’s an entertaining guy, and he’s a very knowledgeable guy,” Bischoff stated. “But if you’re not willing to grow and evolve and to understand the implications of some of the things that you do and say and how it affects other people adversely, then you’re going to get put out to pasture. I hope that doesn’t happen with Jim. But apparently that’s kind of what it appears to be.”

He then went on to question what Cornette is going to do in the future, as nobody will hire him:

“I don’t know where he goes from here…Who’s going to hire him?” Bischoff asked. “At this point, probably nobody.”

Even though the WWE Raw Women’s Champion didn’t appear on WWE Raw at all, Becky Lynch did wrestle on the show in the dark main event.

Competing for the live crowd only, The Man made an appearance to close the show as she went one-on-one with Kairi Sane, who pulled double duty on the show.

In the end, it was Becky Lynch who secured the victory, defeating the Tag Team Champion to finish the show.

Former WWE Superstar, CM Punk recently gave his thoughts on professional wrestling taking place without any fans, and he clearly isn’t a huge fan.

Punk spoke with No-Sports Report where he made it clear he doesn’t find any sport easy to watch without a crowd, adding the wrestling is impossible to view.

“I would be able to watch hockey or UFC or Bellator, any kind of mixed martial arts fight when there’s no people in the crowd because it’s a sport,” Punk said. “With pro wrestling, I find it completely impossible to watch with no crowd. The audience is the 100% – and this is more evident than ever now – driving force behind what wrestlers do in the ring. When I wrestled, that was my boss.”

Punk went on to discuss how the fans are the bosses of wrestlers during matches, as the talent react to how they’re cheering, and without that, it’s much harder.

“A lot of people have their favorite wrestlers and debate who’s on the Mount Rushmore or greatest of all time but the thing that separates the greatest wrestlers from the okay guys is that when there in the ring, they’re the bosses, they’re in charge, but the truth to that is, the audience is in charge,” Punk said. “The audience boos and cheers who they want, they tell you if they like the moves, if they are emotionally invested in the match that tells you where to take it. You can manipulate them but they can also manipulate the match.

“Without all of that, I don’t know what we’re doing. It lends credence, in my opinion, to everyone who argues that wrestling is just a stage fight, it’s a stimulation, its predetermined acrobatics. Without the audience, without the emotion and the adrenaline, that’s what I feel like I’m watching, I feel like I’m watching a video game.”

New Japan Pro-Wrestling knocked it out of the park yet again this year. Generally with these kinds of things there are a small handful of obvious front-runners, but a case could genuinely be made for any match below depending on the individual’s tastes.

Separated by less than one-percent of the total vote, Kota Ibushi’s glorious victory over “Switchblade” Jay White in the finals of perhaps the greatest G1 Climax tournament in history, stood alone on top of the mountain.

It was a nail-biter to the finish, however, with the #1 pick changing eight times in the final hour of voting earlier this week. Here’s how it broke down:

Despite seemingly insurmountable odds stacked against her, AEW Women’s World Champion Riho successfully defended her title this Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite, pinning Dr. Britt Baker in a wild Fatal 4-Way bout that also included Hikaru Shida and the returning Nyla Rose.

Riho was originally scheduled to defend the title against #1 ranked Kris Statlander, however the challenger-in-waiting was pulled from the show due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict. That match will now officially go on as planned next week.

The question is – will the champion be in any condition to actually compete? After barely walking away with the gold around her waist, Riho was attacked by Nyla Rose after the match.

Rose had previously been out of action for several weeks, after attacking an AEW official and putting them through a table. It came as no surprise, then, when the “Native Beast” placed Riho on top of yet another table, before delivering an absolutely devastating splash from the second rope.
