Last night’s WWE Raw saw a surprise return of the Big Show for the first time in over a year after his successful hip surgeries. The World’s Largest Athlete returned to team with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens against Seth Rollins and AOP, surprising everybody in the WWE Universe.

After the match, Big Show spoke with WWE’s YouTube channel where he reflected on making his return to the company.

“Tonight was amazing, after going through five hip surgeries in a year and a half, to be able to take a phone call from a friend to come out in front of this crowd tonight. To come out and be competitive, I am extremely humbled and grateful. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you humble and stronger, and I think my faith in my career and myself and this business was tested in the past two years. I am just grateful to the fans and we will see what happens next week.”

Big Show then learned about next week’s ‘Fist Fight’ match for the first time in this interview. Clearly surprised and a little confused about what that means, Show gave his legitimate reaction.

“Let me get this right, somebody wants a fistfight with me in the match? Somebody doesn’t like AOP or Seth Rollins.”

In news that you likely were not expecting to read today, Bowling For Soup has released a brand new song and music video titled, “Alexa Bliss.”

The song is all based on the popular WWE SmackDown Superstar, with the lyrics and the video all being set around her. Alexa Bliss is a well-known fan of the band, and therefore that’s likely how this connection began.

As usual with Bowling For Soup, there is a comedic tone to the song and the video itself, which features Alexa Bliss and you can check it out below:

The latest WWE NXT injury report has been shared by the company YouTube channel this week, featuring several top tier talents.

Unsurprisingly after their epic brawl, both Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano have featured on the injury report this week. Ciampa had pieces of glass removed from his body after he was thrown through a glass window.

When it comes to Johnny Gargano, he was taken to hospital for evaluation where it was determined he re-aggravated an old neck injury and suffered lumbar damage.

Perhaps the most concerning as far as WWE WrestleMania 36 is concerned (if it goes ahead,) is Rhea Ripley. The NXT Women’s Champion was also listed and suffered a possible leg fracture following the Figure Four around the ring post. She also suffered from severe throat pains after being kicked in the area with Flair’s high heel.

AEW’s President, Tony Khan recently spoke with Dan Le Batard on South Beach Sessions, where he commented on AEW’s promos being less scripted.

He compared their style of promos to other places. Khan noted how he finds it painful to watch promos in other companies as it is so forced, which is why AEW is less scripted.

“Our promos are like the ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ of wrestling. I don’t believe sending wrestlers out there with a 10-page soliloquy and a script to memorize. When I watch other wrestling shows, it’s painful to watch people talk. And these are charismatic guys, but they’re force-fed dialogue that no actual human being would ever say in a realistic conversation. And somehow, we’re supposed to believe them and believe in them. When I was a kid, I never would have gotten behind someone that was reading that kind of a script,” he said.

In a press release issued Thursday, WWE announced the immediate release of company Co-Presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson. In the interim, Frank A. Riddick III has been appointed the role of Chief Financial Officer while WWE searches for a new replacement, as well as a new Chief Revenue Officer.

Vince McMahon issued the following statement:

“I would like to thank George and Michelle for their 10+ years of service and contributions to the organization. I am grateful for all that was accomplished during their tenure, but the Board and I decided a change was necessary as we have different views on how best to achieve our strategic priorities moving forward. We have a deep team of talented, experienced and committed executives across the organization, and the Board and I have great confidence in our collective abilities to create compelling content, engage our global fanbase across platforms, increase revenues, and drive shareholder value.”

WWE will be announcing their 2019 fourth quarter and full year numbers next week.

Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin says the Brackley squad failed to improve its car during its two weeks in Austria and believes that something the team is doing “isn’t right”.

Last weekend, Mercedes conceded its fifth consecutive defeat to rival Red Bull Racing who now leads the Constructors’ championship by a 44-point margin.

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas qualified fourth and fifth respectively for the Austrian Grand Prix, and while the Finn finished runner-up to dominant winner Max Verstappen, early damage sustained by Hamilton relegated the seven-time world champion to fourth.

Shovlin said Mercedes was left with more questions than answers after its second round of racing in Spielberg.

“We haven’t been particularly strong here in general,” Shovlin said after last Sunday’s race.

“That isn’t so much evidenced in the gap to where Red Bull are, but just how much pressure we were under really with McLaren and Lando, who did a great job, but ended up ahead of us.

“Austria wasn’t suiting the car and we’ve not made any real inroads into that over the two races here. That’s a bit of a longer-term thing to look at.

“Then also the very soft compound, the C5, just wasn’t giving us as much in hot conditions on Saturday as we were getting from it on Friday and there’s another question there.

“It wasn’t as much that we did anything, obviously wrong. But when you look at where the performance was, we would have to acknowledge that there is something we are doing that isn’t right.”

Shovlin believes that a better performance in qualifying wouldn’t have changed Mercedes’ fortunes on race day.

“We were the makers of our own issues a bit with the poor quantifying, so that made it very, very difficult to be even thinking about challenging Max,” added the Briton.

“Even if Lewis had started one behind him, I don’t think it would have would have troubled them.

“So overall, bit frustrating really both from a performance point of view and the fact that we need to keep the car in one piece.”

Mercedes will implement a series of updates on its W12 for next week’s British Grand Prix, but Hamilton doubts the changes will allow him to bridge the performance gap to Verstappen.

“These past races have been difficult and obviously he’s pretty much just cruising ahead, so there’s not really much I can do about that,” Hamilton said in Austria.

“We have a little bit coming, but it’s not going to close the gap enough. So we’ve got to do some more work.

“I’m praying for a different scenario in the next race? ” he added. “But you look at their car, it’s just on rails.

“We’re giving it absolutely everything this past two weeks, I’ve been to the factory each week trying to extract as much as I can from the car.

“Our car just doesn’t go well here for some reason. I really hope that it does in these next ones.”

Mick Schumacher says he often undertakes a thorough inspection of some of his rivals’ tyres after a race as the scrutiny is like an “open book” that provides “some good knowledge”.

The Haas driver says his habit of lingering in parc fermé after a race to analyse his fellow competitors’ tyres – a practice in which his legendary father also often indulged – goes all the way back to his karting days.

Schumacher relies on the routine as a source of some interesting knowledge, including mistakes and useful details, associated with his rivals’ cars.

“It is something that I have been doing since karting, really,” he said. “It is always good to know, especially how the tyres look on other cars, and to see if I can understand and learn from that.

“Tyres are like an open book. They will show you every little mistake and every little detail or other cars and also of my car. So I guess inspecting other cars is always a part of that, and I will keep doing that.

“Plus, parc fermé is when I would get closest to another car. I can’t walk in anybody’s garage and say, ‘Hi there, I am just going to check out your car and then leave’. So, definitely, it is interesting to look at it.”

Schumacher has acquitted himself well this season with Haas, steering clear of trouble on the track and focusing on learning while also outpacing his teammate.

Points will remain a tall order moving forward, but the 22-year-old whose sense of commitment and work ethic have been praised by team boss Guenther Steiner is satisfied so far with his maiden campaign in F1

“I am relatively happy with how it is going but obviously performance-wise it is tough,” he admitted.

“Nonetheless we managed to get our way around and we are able to work well together.

“I totally enjoy my time here so much that it is easy for me to come to work and work late because it is so enjoyable.

“I think that really reflects in my performance. That is what is important to me, that the hard work will pay off at some point and I hope that it does.”
