The Kona 2014 winner, who also has two Ironman 70.3 world titles under his belt, is headed to the Cannes International Triathlon on April 19, 2015.

Joining Kienle in Cannes are Jan Frodeno, who bagged the men’s tri gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and M-dot titleholders like European champ Bart Aernouts and IM Lanzarote 2014 first-placer Romain Guillaume.

@SebastianKienle @CannesTriathlon and I was looking forward to a nice ride in the beautiful mountains…

Meanwhile, the pro women set to compete in Cannes include Jenny Fletcher (the triathlon’s ambassador), Leanda Cave (2012 IM and IM 70.3 world champ) and Charlotte Morel (2013 Cannes International Triathlon winner).

Cannes International Triathlon offers two courses, the L (2km swim / 80km bike / 16km run) and M (1km swim / 40km bike / 8km run), as well as a 10km run race.

The triathlon will be contested over a swim off Palm Beach, a bike leg from Cannes up nearly 800 metres to Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey and back, and a run through the southern stretch of the Boulevard de la Croisette.

The inaugural Challenge Dubai triathlon on February 27 will be a star-studded affair, at least as far as pro competitors are concerned, and Spain’s Javier Gomez is the latest to join the party.

The competition just heated up even further @challenge_dubai on 27 Feb with the addition of @Jgomeznoya to the field! #WeAreTriathlon!

— Challenge Family (@Challenge_Famil) January 19, 2015

Gomez was an unstoppable force in 2014, bagging the Ironman 70.3 World Championship title in Mont Tremblant just a week after being crowned ITU World Triathlon series champ for the fourth time. Challenge Dubai will be his first race in 2015.

“I like half distances races and I really look forward to racing against the best triathletes in this distance. I expect Challenge Dubai is going to be a very tough and fast race because of the highest pro field level,” Gomez said.

With a prize pot of $300k (£198k) and a route dotted with sand dunes and world-famous landmarks, Challenge Dubai has already attracted pro triathletes from around the world, including Germany’s Jan Frodeno and Michael Raelert, New Zealand’s Terenzo Bozzone, and Australia’s Luke McKenzie, Tim Reed, Brad Kahlefeldt and Pete Jacobs.

Not to be outdone, the women’s field includes Switzerland’s Daniela Rfy and Caroline Steffen, Britain’s Jodie Swallow and Leanda Cave, and USA’s Meredith Kessler.

Challenge Dubai is the first race in the Challenge Triple Crown series, which also includes the recently announced Challenge Oman. Challenge Bahrain, whose debut in December 2014 was a tremendous success, will be the final race in the 2015 series, with a $1m (£660k) prize purse up for grabs.

“I’m happy to see how triathlon is growing in the Middle East countries. I’m sure it is something very good for the people, especially for the kids, and it is definitely very positive for our sport,” said Gomez.

Registration for Challenge Dubai is ongoing until January 31. Visit www.challenge-dubai.com for more information.

July 27, 2021 | News | No Comments

WWE announced that last night’s WWE Money In The Bank PPV was a sold out show, which is a positive sign for the company, especially going up against Game Of Thrones.

However, it is worth noting that WWE never officially revealed an attendance figure, and the company is known for exaggerating the numbers when it comes to attendances.

Peter Rosenberg No Longer With WWE

July 27, 2021 | News | No Comments

Former-WWE Kickoff Show Personality Peter Rosenberg was recently on Cheap Heat on ESPN Radio, where he addressed why he’s no longer a presence on WWE TV. Rosenberg was known for his flashy attire, and outspoken nature, appearing on various WWE Kickoff panels, as well as Let’s Bring It To The Table.

Rosenberg said that he’d had other projects take precedence, but was willing and able to work WrestleMania 35. Rosenberg was reportedly at the WWE hotel, and visited with performers and staff. It was apparently Michael Cole that told Rosenberg that he was done with the company.

Former WWE Superstar, Summer Rae recently spoke with Ring The Belle about her time with the company, including writing her own promos. Below are some highlights with a H/T to WrestlingInc.com for the transcriptions.

On her respect for Natalya:

“I love Nattie,” Moinet declared. “I thought I was horrible and really mean on Total Divas. People that know me in real life know who I am, and know I would never do anything like that. But it’s your first season, and you gotta stir the pot! It was a great scene heard from around the world. She’ll always be a worker. Nothing you do can ever offend her.

“I know if she called me fat, and I called her ugly and said something about her family she would never care ever. Like no one’s feelings would secretly be hurt, and there are girls in the locker room whose feelings would secretly be hurt. Nattie is such a worker, and she’s hands down one of my favorite people in the business”

Writing her own promo against Rusev:

“I actually wrote the promo, and that’s never been said before,” Moinet said. “Higher powers were very upset [the storyline had to be dropped]. They thought I was the one that would suffer most from this. So they just were like, ‘you know it’s not fair. Would you like to write your own promo?’ I’m really proud of it. I wrote the whole thing, and it was easy to memorize because I wrote it. And I loved it. When I went in the back, it was like standing ovations. Stephanie, Vince, and definitely Armstrong, like everyone was back there. Everyone’s standing and I was proud of it. Stephanie even came out to me, and she was like, ‘That was a slap, girl!”

On if she will return:

“If I ever returned, it’ll be in Chicago,” Moinet said. “Spoiler Alert…I’m a Vince girl. I’ll never burn a bridge.”

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner says the lingering Covid crisis is keeping a cloud of uncertainty over F1’s “tough” 2021 schedule.

The first half of the F1 season was impacted by a few disruptions, with races canceled in Australia and in Canada, while Turkey was pushed back from June to early October.

But local restrictions and sanitary measures linked to the coronavirus pandemic have also put the Japanese and Brazilian Grands Prix in jeopardy, forcing F1 to juggle with events and promoters in a bid to maintain its 23-race schedule.

As the world’s health crisis hopefully subsides, Steiner is looking forward to return to a more predictable agenda in the future.

“I think once COVID is over, the planning for Formula 1 will be – not necessarily easier – but a lot more predictable,” said the Haas team principal.

“At the moment, it is unpredictable what is happening in each country therefore we’re having quite a tough schedule.”

F1’s upcoming summer break that will kick off after this week’s Hungarian Grand Prix will offer teams a well-deserved holiday period.

However, many fear that the prospect of an ever-growing calendar could compress or phase out altogether F1’s three-week recess.

But Steiner is hopeful that the sport will be able to add new events while protecting its summer break

“It’s very important for the team to have some time off, especially during COVID times where there are a lot of triple-headers, and also rest before we go into the second half of the season which will be as tough, if not tougher,” commented the Italian.

“It’s very important that they can see they still have time at home with their families, even if at the moment they are pretty tired.

“I’m sure they all plan to take some time off and recharge batteries. The summer break is important and at the moment there is no talk about getting rid of this in the future, even if there are more events coming.

“I’m sure we will get organized and make it possible to have a big calendar and still have the summer break.”

Like his colleagues, Steiner is looking forward to enjoying some down time next month with family and friends, although he admitted that F1 won’t be off his mind.

“It’s impossible to switch off but you can use the time when you are not under pressure with the day-to-day things to think about the bigger picture,” he said.

“I think that is always a good time because you’re not doing anything,

“it just gives you the opportunity to focus on the things that don’t need an immediate answer and to be a little bit creative and create a vision for the future of the team and for personal life.

“It’s always good to have some time off but the biggest thing is there is little day-to-day work to do so you can use this time to be creative.

“I hope to have a few days with my family, relax a little bit, and come back here recharged.”

Nikki and Brie Bella made an appearance on The Tonight Show this Wednesday evening with host Jimmy Fallon, a long-time friend of the WWE, and discussed everything from their recent in-ring retirement to the controversial finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones (which Nikki apparently spoiled for BOTH of their significant others).

During the sit-down interview, Nikki revealed the real reason why she was forced to retire from professional wrestling earlier this year – and it turns out, it actually wasn’t her choice at all.

It has been well-documented that the former Divas Champion has had a series of neck problems, including a major surgery in 2015 that ended up being a major focus of the Total Divas series and eventual Total Bellas spinoff.

Nikki would of course return to the ring for several part-time stints including a high-profile intergender tag team match teaming up with ex-fiance John Cena against The Miz and Maryse, who now have their very own hit reality series, Miz & Mrs. on the USA network.

Her final televised match took place just last year, when she unsuccessfully challenged Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship in the main event of the historic WWE Evolution all-women’s PPV event. She would also return to the ring for a series of non-televised WWE Live event matches across Europe the following month, taking on Rousey and Natalya in what would be her real final matches in the ring.

While on The Tonight Show, Nikki revealed that her and her sister Brie were actually considering making a comeback earlier this year in order to fight for the newly minted WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, but a check-up with the medical team revealed severe complications that would ultimately end her wrestling career.

“I really wanted to go back and fight for the tag titles. I’ve always had my neck issues, and after neck surgery it hasn’t been okay. I feel like I needed to get that check-up before we went back for the tag titles, and then it came back and I have a herniated disc above where I had surgery. I have all this inflammation around the metal, and I have a cyst on my brain. They were like, ‘You’re done!’ I didn’t get a choice.”
