On the latest episode of Road to Double or Nothing, two more names were announced for the upcoming Over Budget Battle Royal set to take place at next month’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view in Las Vegas.

The first name announced was none other than 54-year-old Raymond M. Lloyd, better known for playing the WCW character Glacier in the 90s. Lloyd is a longtime friend of the Rhodes family, and was a part of Cody’s training camp heading into the NWA world title match at ALL IN last September.

Lloyd also recommended to Cody that up-and-coming wrestler Brian Pillman Jr. be given an opportunity in the Over Budget Battle Royal. Pillman’s spot has now officially announced. The following names have been confirmed:

Becky Lynch has continued mocking the WWE roster on social media, poking fun at Alexa Bliss and her recent injury, which didn’t go down very well.

The Man was tweeting back and forth with new SmackDown Live Superstar, Ember Moon, with Lynch claiming she was going to hit Moon so hard that Alexa Bliss would go out injured again.

Alexa Bliss saw the tweet and quickly responded, asking Lynch if her having a career-threatening injury is funny to her. Bliss went on to tell Lynch not to bite the hand that feeds, claiming that she made Becky relevant in the first place.

Really bex … I’m sure me having career threatening injury is really funny for you … you know how they say don’t bite the hands that feeds you? .. maybe don’t bite the hand that made you relevant. When all I had to do was debut @BeckyLynchWWE https://t.co/cn9kp1rsxX

Moon also stood up for her friend, Alexa Bliss, stating that Becky Lynch is simply a bully that needs to be taken down a notch, which Ember stated she would happily do.

Geez "Man"
It's one thing to make idle threats as the glorified internet troll you are, but you mocking a near career ending injury is proving you are a bully. You are just scum that needs to be taken down a notch. I'll happily oblige.

The 4/22 edition of Monday Night Raw was watched by an average of 2,374,000 viewers, which is nearly an 11% drop from last week’s WWE Superstar Shake-Up. It was the second lowest number of the entire year so far, which is really not good news so soon after WrestleMania.

The first hour drew 2.68 million viewers but dropped more than 14% in the second hour to just under 2.3 million, and then fell again in the third hour to 2.15 million viewers.

WWE asked the WWE Universe who they think The Fiend’s next victim will be, and Bray Wyatt provided a surprising answer himself.

So far we have seen The Fiend attack several WWE Hall Of Fame talents, with Mick Foley, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and Kurt Angle all suffering at the hands of Wyatt’s new character, with Finn Balor being his only in-ring opponent at this point.

Wyatt is clearly ready to target another Hall Of Fame Superstar though, as he responded to a tweet about who he should attack next by picking Sting.

Paul Levesque, better known as Triple H, took the time to speak with members of the media today in preparation for this weekend’s NXT Takeover: WarGames event, as well as the first tri-branded Survivor Series pay-per-view in WWE history. Below is a recap from the conference call:

— When asked about NXT talent appearing on Raw/SD in the future Triple H says “never say never” but believes the split between the brands will be more apparent after Sunday. The travel issues in Saudi Arabia afforded them a unique opportunity to do something different, and he thinks the inclusion of the NXT talents has made for something special, but it’s got to be done sparingly and judicially.

— Johnny Gargano’s condition is “day-to-day” right now.

— Triple H says there has been a “working process” and a collaboration between the NXT/Raw/Smackdown creative teams. It wasn’t necessarily the plan to begin with, but he says it’s been “really fun” so far. There have been challenges trying to figure out who can appear when and where, because there’s so many shows and things going on, and sometimes plans change between Monday and Friday.

— He talks a bit about how NXT isn’t produced with the big, long-running teams that Raw and Smackdown has that have been doing the job for years and years. A lot of their people on the job are still cutting their teeth, and he likes it that way.

— With regards to NXT UK he says the product needs to slow-build and develop itself over a long period of time, and sink in deep, one step at a time rather than an all-out rush to trying to build this huge thing overnight. Puts over the people working on the brand day-to-day.

— Triple H has no interest in competing in the ring for the NXT brand.

— He was asked about WWE stars asking for their releases, and the strategy to let them go vs. enforcing their contracts. Triple H says in some cases, there are legit reasons for people wanting to get out and do their thing. But if you have a problem, come to him and the NXT staff and talk to them about it, don’t go on social media for the “clicks”. He says they all have phones, they have each other’s numbers, just deal with your business like a “professional”. I wonder who that was about…

— Triple H was asked about why there was no triple threat match at Survivor Series between the top singles champions. He said the Lesnar/Mysterio story was so strong that it needed to take place now, so it changed the dynamic and everything else had to fall into place. That led to The Fiend and Daniel Bryan, as well as Adam Cole now defending his title.

— When asked about how Adam Cole is doing in his position: “I can’t say enough good things about Adam Cole. Consummate pro. Represents us well. Well-spoken and smart. He has it all, and there’s no place he hasn’t been in the last month or two. On short notice he gets in there with one of the best performers on the planet, Daniel Bryan, and he tears the place down. Gets to Fox, goes on WWE Backstage, and represents himself well. People were sending me notes all day saying, ‘This kid’s a star!’ He just has it. He’s humble, he’s smart, and he’s a sponge for the business. Wants to know everything and more. He’s a leader in the locker room, and just has it all. I can’t say enough good stuff about him.”

AJ Styles did in fact suffer a legitimate injury during Sunday night’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match. Dave Meltzer has confirmed that the former world champion separated his shoulder while selling the effects of a spear from the returning Edge, late into the match.

As noted, Styles was seen talking to the referee and other Superstars after the incident, with his arm hanging loosely at his side. Moments later, Edge was notified and quickly threw the “Phenomenal One” over the ropes to eliminate him with no struggle – a legitimate surprise to others in the match.

Right now the severity of the injury is unknown, although we have reached out to WWE for comment. A separated shoulder could be good news, relatively speaking. Generally a separation has a much shorter recovery window than a dislocation, and in many cases athletes are back in action in less than two months. Obviously that timeframe puts his WrestleMania status in question.

Arn Anderson reflected on the current situation with Coronavirus during his latest podcast, discussing the upcoming empty stadium shows.

Arn admitted that he is currently concerned and that he thinks everyone needs to pitch in now to help people out.

He remarked, “I am like everyone else, concerned, probably going through some trials and tribulations and having to adjust our life with this Coronavirus. But I want to just start to show off by apologizing with all the cancellations and people that were expecting us to be signings and different places, and we’re not going to be able to be there, but we have to get behind the government and the plan that they have for all of us to fight this thing. And everyone’s going to have to pitch in and do our part, do everything we can. I’m sure we’re going to weather this, it’s just a question of being inconvenienced and just wanted to apologize to everybody and assure them we will make up any of these dates, if humanly possible, and get things back to entertain in the public and doing what we do well. And that’s just let everybody let loose and enjoy life.”

Arn then spoke about how AEW is handling the situation, admitting that they will be doing everything possible to entertain people.

“Well, number one, it’s the ongoing commitment by Tony Khan and the company to, you know, still provide entertainment for everybody to sit at home in front of a TV set,” said Arn. “That’s exactly what Tony Khan and commitment is. These guys are going to have to go out and do what they do and be creative and ad-lib. And we’re gonna have to figure out some way to make an empty arena rock and roll. There’s some pretty good minds there. I think we’ll be able to figure it out.”

Brodie Lee was a recent guest on Talk Is Jericho where he broke down his final few months as a WWE Superstar and his attempts to get released.

Brodie discussed waiting outside of Vince McMahon’s office for three hours, with that being the final straw for him and his career.

“One of my last, the one that was like ‘fuck this place,’ I sat outside Vince’s office — I had been off for so long [after the Bludgeon Brothers broke up]— I sat outside his office for three hours. Everyone leaves and Michael Hayes walks out and is like, ‘I’m the last one.’ I knock on the door and he goes, ‘I don’t want to see anybody right now.’ I’m like, ‘mother….’ [He didn’t know I was out there]. I’m going to leave, I threw my pitches in the garbage. Shawn Spears goes, ‘he’s in his other office.’ Before I left, I gave him one final pitch, he’s eating salad, and he’s like ‘I’ll look at these on the plane.’ I knew that was it,” he recalled.

Brodie then discussed getting Vince’s phone number as he made another push to save his WWE career prior to WWE WrestleMania 35.

“Then I remember, somebody gave me his number. What did I have to lose? I texted him, ‘Hey man, just wondering what’s going on with my career?’ This was right before WrestleMania 35. He asked me, ‘Why aren’t you in the Andre battle royal?’ I said, ‘Sir, that’s a question that you should probably be able to answer.’ I have nothing to lose. He goes, ‘Well you are now.’ That week in the meetings, he had chastised some of the writers like, ‘How do we leave this guy off and him not have anything? Let’s come up with something for him.’ Oh. It worked. We got a sheet and I was one of the last two or three. When we got there, they have kayfabed us on the end of the battle royal and there were like ten other people after me. Demoralized again, but no problem.”

After another planned storyline for Brodie didn’t end up happening, he finally made the decision to quit and get out of the company.

“Then, I was going to be Sami Zayn’s heater,” began Lee. “I go, ‘Fuck, man. That’s exactly what I don’t want to do.’ That’s what I’ve done my entire career. I don’t want to be behind anybody, I want to do my own thing. I said, ‘I’m gonna make it work.’ I was supposed to debut on SmackDown after Mania and it got canceled. I said, ‘Okay, that’s it.’ I went home, talked to my wife and she goes, ‘If you don’t want to be there, don’t be there. Ask them for your release.’ I did and I remember Vince called me and we had two, 20-minute conversations and we just talked like humans. Vince is very almost robot-like, but when you talk to him, he’s a good person. He’s like, ‘What do you want, do you want more money? Do you want a push?’ I’m like, ‘No, at this point, I don’t want either of that.’ I also didn’t realize that other people had asked for their releases, but not publicly. Hunter had told me later, he goes, ‘We can’t release you, it’s gonna make it look like people are jumping off the sinking ship.’

He continued, “I never said anything negative about them online. I wanted to do it publicly because I knew the court of public opinion was very important to the next move I was going to make. To have the support was important. I also didn’t want them to be able to control my narrative. Now, if they sit me at home, people know that I wanted out and I wasn’t just content. Spears had done the same thing a few months earlier and they granted his release. Honestly, I thought they were going to do it. After the second conversation with Vince, he called me and said, ‘for business reasons, I can’t let you go.’ I said, ‘That’s fair. It’s your decision. I signed the contract. Can I get out in November?’ because they added six months because of a wrist injury. He said, ‘That’s a question for somebody else.’ We left it at that.”
