– On a recent episode of his Conversation With The Big Guy podcast, former WWE Superstar Ryback shared his thoughts on WWE airing live on Christmas Day, what he thinks of Roman Reigns as a performer, check out the highlights below:

On Roman Reigns:

“I love Roman Reigns. I think most of the guys there [in WWE do as well]. I think it’s a whole different dynamic than [the situation with John]Cena. I think more guys [like Reigns]. He works really hard, but he’s always very humble. He is very [respectful]and he never walks around backstage with an ‘I’m better than you’ attitude. So, to me, not to say that John does that or anything. It’s just that Roman comes off different. I don’t know if it’s from being raised in the business and whatnot. But I’ve worked with him very closely over the years, especially early on, so and the guy can go and he’s super talented, so I’m happy for all of his success.”

On WWE airing live on Christmas Day:

“Whether it was USA [Network]’s idea or Vince [McMahon]’s idea, who knows whose idea it was? But they’re looking at it as a way to make money and the problem with that is you’re dealing with human lives. We have all these other days of the year we could run. We could do two tapings the week before. I just feel bad for the guys because they have no choice. No one can say anything there. I guarantee you not one of them wants to be there.”

– WWE Superstar Chris Jericho was a guest on Ring Rust Radio this week and discussed a wide variety of topics, they sent us the following transcription:

You recently released your latest book, No Is a Four-Letter Word: How I Failed Spelling but Succeeded in Life. Why did you feel now was the right time to write this book and what are you hoping to accomplish with its release?

“It’s pretty philosophical man. Like there is some kind of otherworldly design behind it. What happened was I’ve already written three autobiographies in the course of seven years. I love to write and I have lots to write about. A fourth autobiography at this stage in my life might be a little pretentious, like does the world really need another Jericho autobiography? I’m not exactly Jack Kerouac or whatever. So, I thought I would answer a question that gets asked quite often in how you did all these things you do. How did you make it in wrestling? How did you make it in music? How do you continue to do all these things?

“So, I sat down I came up with 20 principles of things I learned over the years from celebrities, family members, people that I know, fictional characters, and put them all down. Twenty principles like I said, the David Bowie principle of always reinvent yourself; The Vince McMahon principle of work hard then work harder; the Steve Austin principle, always be a little bit of an asshole. All these little things that helped me get these goals accomplished that I wanted to accomplish. It became almost like a motivational book or self-help book and it never really intended to be that way but that’s the kind of way it morphed. Now that it’s out, it’s really cool to see people’s reactions and how people are gaining a lot of advice from things that I’ve learned and applying it to their own life. It is a pretty cool feeling.”

Southpaw Regional Wrestling is one of our favorite things this year. What was your experience like filming that and playing the role of Clint Bobski and do you think we’ll get more episodes in the future?

“It’s something I heard about a while back when they came up with the idea and asked if I wanted to be involved. I said yea I want to be the backstage interviewer Clint Bobski. That’s the name that I used in college when I went to do creative communications, television classes and radio classes. Whenever we were doing box sports casts or mock radio on sports, I was always Clint Bobski. I love that name and I don’t know why. I used it again for Southpaw and it was a lot of fun because I used to watch wrestling like that. Stampede Wrestling and local wrestling in Winnipeg it was called the FWA. They were filmed in the exact same type of cheap gritty videotapes and the backstage announcers were over the top and cheesy. They were playing backstage announcers saying things like, “Oh my goodness look at what we have here! I have never seen such a thing!”

“It was a lot of fun to do and people were very confused early this summer when I came back for Smackdown for one night only and they thought that I was back. I wasn’t back I was there because I was filming the second season of Southpaw Wrestling and asked if I could do a match and thought might as well while I am here. I would love to see a few more but I don’t know if the series took off virally like they thought it would and I am not sure what the numbers are on that but it was a lot of fun while we did it and hopefully get to do more.

“I think a lot of times the initial one is always the best because it’s such a surprise and nobody really knows what they’re getting into. Where with the second one everybody wanted to get involved and some of the characters weren’t as strong. I think Miz’s guy was terrible in it whatever he was called. I just thought it was terrible and it wasn’t funny. I thought the Butcher Boys weren’t funny. The first one was really funny because no one was really trying. They were just being whatever they wanted to be. It’s like a sequel to a movie where you stumble onto something and it’s never as good as the original. If they do more Clint Bobski will be there and if they don’t it was fun while it lasted.”

Your band Fozzy’s latest hit is Judas, I think it’s an awesome song and it’s done so well for you on the charts. I know they’re different mediums, but how does the feeling of having a hit song like Judas compare to a big accomplishment in wrestling like winning a title or really getting a character over or something to that effect?

“I think it might be even harder to get a number one song in music. It’s hard to become a champion too, so they would be very similar. It’s a real pat on the back for years of hard work. This is not a song that went to number one instantly. It went from 15 to 10 to nine to eight to seven, so we’re building this fan base and I think there’s a lot of people that have heard of Fozzy but never actually heard Fozzy before and now that’s changing. There are a lot of people checking out the band because of what they heard about Judas did or they know about Jericho and wrestling and they go back to check out Fozzy and then they suddenly hear the greatest song we have done in our career.

“We’ve had successful songs in the past, but nothing like this. It’s on a whole different level and a whole different world. It’s really cool that after all this hard work we put in, which is the whole motto of my life which is no is a four-letter word. When people told me I would never make it in music and guess what? We just did. That’s very, very cool to see the fan base growing and the buzz about the band growing and we are still getting started. Judas is still rising in the charts which is great. It has been a pretty cool experience but very, very well deserved after years and years of hard work.”

Happy Tuesday, wrestling fans. We have a huge New Japan Pro Wrestling news blast today, featuring the top matches of Power Struggle, the next Lion’s Gate Project and the announcement of all eight teams in this year’s Super Junior Tag Tournament!

First up, the match card for this month’s Lion’s Gate Project 8 has also been announced. For those new to NJPW, the Young Lions are the developmental talents in training to become full fledged members of the New Japan roster. They live and train in the New Japan Dojo where they work with veteran wrestlers, trainers, and make appearances on the undercard of main roster tours.

Lion’s Gate was created to give established Young Lion’s a platform to work in front of a crowd, as well as a way to debut new Young Lion’s for the first time. Occasionally they will also bring in younger stars from other Japanese promotions that they are interested in working with.

Shinsuke Nakamura Arrives at HIAC

WWE has released the following video, featuring Shinsuke Nakamura backstage at WWE Hell in a Cell in Detroit.

During the brief interview, Nakamura talks his mindset heading into tonight’s WWE Title match against Jinder Mahal, and he doesn’t want to be too excited for the match, and is trying to stay calm and relaxed before the fight:

Eric Bischoff Criticizes Josh Barnett’s NJPW Commentary

Eric Bischoff took to Twitter a couple days ago and criticized New Japan Pro Wrestling commentator Josh Barnett, who calls the shows for AXS TV. Bischoff Tweeted the following, which drew a response from Barnett:

Watching @njpwglobal on @AXSTV. @JRsBBQ is awesome. Whoever the color man is-not so much.

— Eric Bischoff (@EBischoff) October 7, 2017

Not a shot. Just a fact.

Good thing you don’t sign my checks. I wonder what your angle is, or who for. Either way, looks like it is since I’m on air every Friday. https://t.co/2XbCu5OQQp

Lio Rush officially made his in-ring debut with WWE NXT this week, taking on the bizarre and charismatic Velveteen Dream after being attacked by his former indie wrestling tag partner on last week’s episode.

The 22-year-old high flying sensation put up a good fight, going right after Dream and performing some amazing moves throughout, but was ultimately unsuccessful in his NXT debut. Rush was announced for the developmental brand with some serious fanfare from WWE last month. He is a former Ring of Honor star, winning their annual Top Prospects Tournament in 2016.

ProWrestling.com caught up with Impact Wrestling star DJZ this weekend during the AAW Jim Lynam Memorial Tournament in Chicago.

The former X-Division champion told us that he’s “pretty close to 100%” after suffering a career-threatening injury that put him on the shelf for the majority of 2017. He wrestled three excellent matches for AAW this past weekend against Andrew Everett, ACH and Michael Elgin, showing no signs of “ring rust” or lingering effects from the injury – at least from where we were sitting!

DJZ is eager to “get back in the game” for Impact Wrestling after being off television since the tapings in March. Although he is not currently booked for November’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view, we’re not ruling out a surprise appearance or participation in the week-long television taping event that follows.

Check out our entire interview with DJZ below for more on his current status, plus his reaction to performing at the Pro Wrestling Tees grand opening, musical influences and more!

AJ Styles Wrestles on WWE Raw Tonight

As seen on WWE Raw tonight, GM Kurt Angle announced that Smackdown Live star AJ Styles decided to stay another night after he competed at WWE TLC last night.

Angle then announced Styles would team with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to face The Miz, Sheamus and Cesaro in the opening match of Raw tonight.

Matt Hardy on WWE Main Event

Prior to Raw tonight, the following matches were taped for this week’s WWE Main Event:

-Matt Hardy vs Curt Hawkins

-Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

Y2J – Kenny Omega News

Chris Jericho has announced that his Rock ‘n Wrestling sea cruise, taking place in October of next year, will feature a Sea of Honor tournament presented by Ring of Honor. This could be the reason why Jericho has been going back-and-forth with Kenny Omega on Twitter, in order to hype the ROH presence on the cruise.

No matches have been announced for the Sea of Honor tournament, but the cruise site notes “the Sea of Honor Tournament will feature over a dozen wrestlers competing on an outdoor wrestling ring.”

As we previously reported, the theme of this year’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view will be “Smackdown vs. Raw”, with every match on the card showcasing some kind of inter-brand rivalry.

It was announced on this week’s WWE Raw that the show will feature two 5-on-5 traditional Survivor Series elimination matches, one for the men and one for the women. Alicia Fox has already been named the captain of Team Raw, defeating Sasha Banks and Bayley to earn the right to carry the red brand’s banner.

We now know that Becky Lynch has qualified to lead Team Smackdown in the match. “Hot Fire” defeated her fellow women’s division stars Charlotte Flair, Tamina Snuka, Naomi and Carmella in a fatal five-way, tapping out the “Statin Island Princess” with a Disarmher.

Given that there are only seven women on the Smackdown roster in total, Natalya is the current reigning women’s champion, and Lana is the manager for Tamina Snuka, it looks like we already know exactly who will be on Becky Lynch’s team at Survivor Series. It’s possible that Lana may sneak her way onto the team however, as she displayed some obvious unhappiness about being left out of the five-way match on Tuesday night.
