This weekend, reports made the rounds that a 10-year old boy saved his two-year old brother from drowning, using CPR techniques he claimed to have learned from watching Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the film, “San Andreas.”

Touched by the story, the part-time WWE Superstar and full-time Hollywood A-list star took to social media to comment on it, inviting the boys to the set of his upcoming film, “Skyscraper.”

“I gotta shake the hand of a real life 10 [year]old hero,” wrote Johnson via his official Instagram page (see below). “Jacob, I’m gonna fly you and your family out to Vancouver so I can meet you. Hopefully, your little 2 [year]old brother, Dylan is well enough to fly because I wanna meet him too.”

The Rock continued, “I’ll have some very nice people contact your family in the upcoming days to make the arrangements. Can’t wait to meet you big man. And make sure you bring your sweet tooth!”

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Chris Jericho talked about the possibility of UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor coming to WWE.

According to Jericho, McGregor to WWE is a “no brainer.”

“Conor comes out of [his fight with Floyd Mayweather]looking like 100 million bucks, and Floyd retires 50-0. So will Conor McGregor end up in WWE? I think it’s a no-brainer. It might not be this year or the year after that because there’s a lot of money that you got to spend to get him in there, but a guy that yappy that knows the concept of cutting a wrestling promo — same with Floyd.”

Jericho also thinks that we’ll see Ronda Rousey in WWE someday as well:

“That’s why Floyd did WWE, because he got a lot of his stuff from WWE ideas – so I definitely think Conor will end up there. It’s just a matter of when he wants to. I also think Ronda Rousey will end up there one way or another as well.”

On Monday’s Raw, John Cena and Roman Reigns had another pretty noteworthy segment together, but this time, you could argue that Reigns got the better of Cena on the mic.

Much like with last week’s segment, Reigns and Cena touched on a lot of real-life topics that aren’t normally discussed in WWE storylines. By this point, we know the two aren’t “shooting” on each other — or maybe they are, but either way, these segments are designed to come off as a “shoot.”

As previously noted, Cena got the better of Reigns last week, and on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about how WWE wanted to make sure that Reigns got the “last laugh” this week.

“Roman Reigns was so much better this week,” Meltzer said. “You could see on this one that [Reigns] was going right on the script, and John Cena was going right on the script, and they knew what happened last week, and they knew that John Cena got the better of him, and it was very clear that this was designed for Roman Reigns to get the better of John Cena and get the last laugh.”

WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair recently spoke with Uproxx to promote WrestleMania’s return to New Orleans next year, and below are some interview highlights:

Can you give me a non-Charlotte prediction or something on your WrestleMania wishlist, as a fan of the WWE?

“Honestly, for a women’s singles match. I know that WrestleMania is a day that we try to get everyone involved because it is the biggest day of the year. It’s such a family event. But I would like a women’s singles match.”

Whether or not you’re in it?

“Competitively, I wanna be in it, I’m not gonna lie. I would be upset if I wasn’t. But at the same time, having a singles match for the women just goes to show how much WWE has invested in the women as a whole, and how important women’s wrestling is to kids and families. To send that message out there that women can do anything they want in a male-dominated world.”

Let’s say it’s you. Who is the dream opponent? We have a time machine, we’ve got some magic potions. Anyone; past, present, future. I also wanna know who on the current roster you would most like to face if we got one-on-one, last match, WrestleMania, New Orleans Super Dome.

“Last match? Maybe fatal four-way, Four Horsewomen, I think that’s the main event match. I don’t really have a dream singles, I just dream of main eventing. When I think of WrestleMania, you think of so many outside celebrities and athletes getting involved. Maybe a WrestleMania moment would be Queen versus Queen, me versus Stephanie McMahon. I see storylines that could lead into WrestleMania like that, but [choosing]one person is so hard.”

WON NEWSLETTER: October 4, 2021 Observer Newsletter: WWE Extreme Rules review, G1 Climax updates

WWE’s Extreme Rules show on 9/26 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH was decent. Most of the matches were good, but there was nothing blow away.

The show was built around two bouts, Roman Reigns vs. Demon Finn Balor for the Universal title and Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair for the women’s title. Both had gimmicked finishes.

The Demon match ended with Demon ont the top rope when the top rope suddenly collapsed and he fell into the ring injured, and got pinned by a spear. The bout had been the most exciting on the show, but at one point the idea was that Demon had died. Then his music played and he acted as though he was resurrected, and in fact, that was the verbiage used, and he made a comeback until the rope broke.

In the Smackdown women’s title match, Belair powered out of the disarmer and set up the KOD when Sasha Banks ran into attack Belair for the DQ. Banks also laid out Lynch after the match to set up a three-way program.

WEDNESDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE
On his radio show, Pat McAfee said he won’t be at Crown Jewel: “Nope. They’re heading over there. I wasn’t invited. Good luck. I’m not supposed to be part of that, I’m happy I’m not going or whatever. The show, everyone says it’s insane over there. It’s awesome. Until they get stuck there and then I gotta call Buffalo SmackDown.”
Dominik Mysterio appeared on this week’s edition of Out of Character with Ryan Satin. Dominik said he thinks the end goal is for him to eventually take over the Rey Mysterio name:

Most definitely. I think the long goal here, the endgame, is to eventually take over the Rey Mysterio name. That’s the legacy within it. He’s Rey Mysterio. It’s only right to make a Jr. Traditionally in Lucha culture, and in Hispanic culture, that’s tradition. That’s what you do. I kind of just showed up and Dom Mysterio organically happened. Everything happened so fast.

We didn’t really get a chance to put these little things together, but we definitely have talked about it. He’s mentioned before that the mask is something I have to earn along with the name. If one day he wants to pass it on to me after he retires, or he wants to make me earn it after he retires or something, whatever it is, I’m up for it. I know that name belongs to me and it’s only right. Hispanically, culturally, it’s only right, but whatever he wants at the end of the day because he’s the one that made it what it is. I’ll respect his decision whatever it is.

Ronda Rousey posted an update on how her body is recovering after giving birth:

10 days postpartum – my mom @annmaria7gen went back to training 6 days after having my sister Maria, then made weight and won the judo US Open 6 weeks later… when she was pregnant with me she only gained 12 pounds – and I was an 8 lbs baby! I’ve decided to let her keep those records

My body seems to be recovering faster than I hoped, but I won’t really know if Pō tossed a grenade on the way out till my 6 week checkup. Since breaking both my hands and getting pregnant it feels like I lost a lifetime of muscle – it’s easy to get discouraged over all that lost progress – but if anything I’m looking forward to getting cleared to train again even more. This is an opportunity start over and mold my body into its next phase #BaddestMomOnThePlanet #ThisIsntEvenMyFinalForm

Sonya Deville, Adam Pearce, and Drew McIntyre appeared on this morning’s episode of WWE’s The Bump.
WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Batista vs. Bobby Lashley from the October 6, 2006 episode of SmackDown, AJ Lee vs. Brie Bella for the Divas Championship from Battleground 2013, and Dolph Ziggler vs. Batista in a no DQ match from the May 23, 2014 episode of SmackDown.
Other Wrestling
Darby Allin vs. Nick Comoroto has been added to the lineup for tonight’s Dynamite. We’ll also hear from CM Punk on the show.
The Elite (Kenny Omega, Adam Cole & The Young Bucks) vs. Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage & Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy) is kicking off tonight’s Dynamite.
Tony Khan spoke to Sports Illustrated and The Wrap about the second anniversary of Dynamite. The Wrap asked Khan to set the record straight on what ratings measurement AEW cares about and how much they care about ratings: “The (18-49) demo is the number that we are measured by, and that’s the chart that we receive from our partners at TNT. I have a meeting with TNT executives every week and we go through the ratings. We used to just go through the ratings for Dynamite, but now we also go through the ratings for Rampage and look at patterns. The main thing we tend to look at is 18-49. We’ll look at different splits, by gender and different demographics, but absolutely the 18-49 overall is the bread and butter number that we always look at at the start of the meeting.”
Cody Rhodes told PopCulture that he won’t be turning heel in AEW and won’t be going back on his stipulation to not challenge for the AEW World Championship:

This will disappoint so many and maybe it won’t, maybe this will excite, but two things I can guarantee you. And I’m not saying this to wave one hand while you’re not looking at the other. I’m telling this from the most honest standpoint, I am not going to turn heel on this company. And I would retire before I did that. Now I’m the head of the community outreach group. I have a little girl now. I’m not going to be doing heel stuff on TV.

I am not turning heel and I’m not going back on my word to challenge for the title. That stuff was real. It hurts. It is a large regret that that ever happened, but it did happen and I can live with it. And I got to do that dance with Chris Jericho, and I will not go back on that stipulation, me personally. If Tony wanted to change things he could. And again, you can never say never in wrestling, but I do think there’s this idea that evil corporate need would turn the stipulation around and challenge for the world title, that I can say never will happen.

During an appearance on Reinvented with Jen Eckhart, Chris Jericho said he’d love to see Will Ospreay in AEW: “I’d love to see Will in AEW. I actually called him way way back when we were first starting out to see what kind of interest he had. I think there are a lot of guys that want to work in Japan and spend time there, I know because I was one of them. I’ve been to Japan over 60 times in my career. There will come a time when Will decides he wants to work in his own country, I know he’s English, but in America, that idea is much more similar to England than Japan is. There’s something to be said about being a world-wide television superstar. You won’t get that working for New Japan Pro Wrestling. It’s great to be there, but the real big leagues lie in America. I would love to see Will working in America and I think at some point, that will probably happen.”
Bryan Danielson was interviewed by 6ABC in Philadelphia.
Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports interviewed Preston “10” Vance.
Clark Connors and Alex Coughlin have been announced for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 7. The event is being held at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles on Friday, October 22.
Lenny Leonard and Rocky Romero will be the commentary team for Bloodsport.
Stallion Rogers (formerly known as Curt Stallion) posted a video apologizing for transphobic comments that he made on a podcast last year. Rogers said he’ll be donating a portion of the money he makes for his bookings for the rest of the year to the National Center for Transgender Equality.
Malakai Black will face Buddy Matthews (formerly known as Buddy Murphy) at Battleground Championship Wrestling’s show at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 18.

TF1 innove !
