8/21/19 WWE NXT Recap

Beth Phoenix, Mauro Ranallo, and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary. Tonight’s main event is Killian Dain vs. Matt Riddle.
The Undisputed Era’s music hits and the group makes their way to the ring. Adam Cole says he did everything he said he was going to do when he defeated Johnny Gargano and defended his NXT Championship at TakeOver: Toronto. Cole says he is the greatest NXT Champion to ever live. He says NXT’s Mount Rushmore would have his face four times. Roderick Strong says all four of them should be draped in gold, but the Undisputed prophecy has yet to be fulfilled. Strong says they all got screwed. Strong says The Velveteen Dream pinned Pete Dunne, not him, and his NXT North American Championship run is on borrowed time. He says he will fulfill his part of the prophecy when Dream stops ducking him. Kyle O’Reilly says to win a tag team match, you have to pin the legal man. Bobby Fish shows footage of him tagging into the match at TakeOver, even though O’Reilly was the one who was pinned. Fish tells William Regal to come out and do his job. Cole says what is right for NXT is for the Era to be draped in gold. He says Fish and O’Reilly are the greatest tag team in NXT history and the NXT North American Championship belongs to Strong. Cole says they are just two steps away from making NXT truly undisputed.
As the group leaves, Jordan Myeles’ music hits and he walks out with his contract for a title match that he received for winning the NXT Breakout Tournament. Cole says he better be joking. Cole says he will break Myles’ smile off his face. Cole says Myles can challenge Shayna Baszler or any of the champions from 205 Live or NXT UK. Cole says there is nothing more damaging to a career than challenging him to a title match. Cole says he will make Myles’ career an undisputed failure. Myles extends the contract to Cole and then drops it to the floor as Cole reaches for it.

Bronson Reed has an interview. He says the NXT Breakout Tournament was great, but he is going to ask Regal for more. Shane Thorne walks up and interrupts. Thorne says Reed blew his chance and wasted everyone’s time. Reed challenges Thorne to a match and Thorne accepts. That match will take place later tonight.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Mansoor vs. Damian Priest
Priest backs Mansoor into the corner and delivers a chop. Mansoor comes back with a kick, but Priest slams him into the turnbuckle. Priest delivers a boot to the face and a right hand. Priest takes Mansoor to the mat and delivers a knee strike. Priest sends Mansoor to the apron and then drops him with a forearm shot. Mansoor comes back with a quick roll-up for two and then delivers a dropkick. Mansoor delivers a bicycle kick, but Priest catches him off the ropes. Mansoor comes back with an enzuigiri and then connects on a suicide dive on the floor. Mansoor drops Priest with a neck-breaker in the ring, but Priest comes back with a lariat. Priest slams Mansoor to the mat and then drops him with the Reckoning and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Damian Priest

Match #2 – Singles Match: Mia Yim vs. Vanessa Borne (w/Aliyah)
Borne stomps on Yim’s hand and then applies a headlock. Yim turns it into one of her own and then drops her to the mat. Yim delivers a shot to Borne’s throat and Aliyah gets involved. Borne comes back with a Samoan Drop and goes for the cover, but Yim kicks out at two. Borne slams Yim into the corner and then stomps her in the ropes. Yim comes back with a left hand, but Borne slaps her across the face. Yim drops Borne to the mat and delivers a series of shots. Yim delivers forearm shots and chops in the corner. Yim tosses Borne across the ring and connects with a cannonball in the corner. Yim delivers the Protect Yo Neck and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Mia Yim
-After the match, Shayna Baszler comes to the stage. Baszler calls Yim a bad ass and says she fought her and took her places that no one else was able to. Baszler says she saw the look in Yim’s eyes and says they do not need to stand across from each other as enemies. Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke appear on the apron and Baszler says it is a cold business. Yim goes after Shafir, but the numbers get to her and Shafir and Baszler beat her down as Duke watches on in a sling. Referees run out to help Yim as Baszler, Duke, and Shafir walk up the ramp.

Match #3 – Singles Match: Bronson Reed vs. Shane Thorne
Thorne goes to the outside, but Reed drops him to the mat when he gets back into the ring. Thorne comes back and slams Reed into the corner and delivers a few kicks. Reed runs the ropes and then drops Thorne with a sit-out spine-buster. Reed face washes Thorne and goes for a press slam, but Thorne rakes his eyes. Thorne delivers a series of right hands and kicks and then beats him down in the corner. Thorne applies a fish hook hold and then kicks Reed in the back. Reed comes back with a few chops, but Thorne delivers a dropkick to counter. Thorne sends Reed to the corner and delivers a senton. Thorne goes for the cover, but Reed kicks out at two. Thorne goes for a back-drop driver, but Reed elbows out. Reed takes Thorne down with a power slam and then delivers a series of shots. Reed delivers a Samoan Drop, but Thorne comes back with a kick to the face. Reed takes Thorne down and connects with a senton splash. Reed splashes Thorne in the corner a few times and Thorne rolls to the floor. Reed tosses Thorne back into the ring and goes up top. Thorne cuts him off and delivers a running kick and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Shane Thorne

The Velveteen Dream comes to the stage on his sofa. He says his t-shirt is $30, his shades are $10, but him retaining the NXT North American Championship by pinning Pete Dunne is priceless. He says one man, two men, or the entire locker room, he always ends up on top. He says he likes it on top, because that’s where the spotlight is. He says the spotlight is now on Roderick Strong and if Strong wants a one-on-one, he will have to give Dream an experience that he has never experienced before. Dream says Strong better make it work, because if not, it will be dream over.

Next week, The Street Profits will defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.

Match #4 – Singles Match: Killian Dain vs. Matt Riddle
Riddle attacks Dain before the bell and takes him down. The bell rings and Riddle delivers a series of kicks in the corner. Riddle sends Dain to the floor and then delivers a flying forearm. Riddle gets Dain back into the ring and delivers a few chops. Dain punches Riddle in the ribs and then delivers a shoulder block and a cross-body. Dain delivers more shots to Riddle’s midsection in the corner and then delivers a suplex. Dain goes for the cover, but Riddle kicks out at two. Dain applies an abdominal stretch, but Riddle gets free. Dain kicks Riddle in the ribs and stands on his ribs in the corner. Dain chokes Riddle over the ropes and delivers a knee strike. Dain delivers a gut-buster, but Riddle punches his way back. Dain goes for a knee strike, but Riddle counters with a suplex. They exchange shots and Riddle takes advantage. Riddle delivers a few forearms in the corner and drops Dain with an exploder suplex. Riddle connects with the Broton and delivers a penalty kick. Riddle goes for the cover, but Dain kicks out at two.
Riddle delivers forearm shots as Dain gets to the ropes. Dain comes back with a kick to the chest, but Riddle comes back with a German suplex. Riddle delivers a knee strike, but Dain comes back with a dropkick into the corner. Dain connects with a cannonball and goes for the cover, but Riddle kicks out at two. Dain slams Riddle to the mat and goes for a senton splash, but Riddle counters and goes for the Bromission. Dain fights to his feet and slams Riddle to the mat. Riddle comes back with a Bro to Sleep and then delivers a power bomb. Riddle delivers a knee strike and goes for the cover, but Dain kicks out at two. Riddle goes for the Running Bro, but Dain gets his knees up and sends Riddle to the floor. Dain charges at Riddle, but Riddle moves and Dain hits the steps. Dain drops Riddle into the steps and then connects with a senton on the steps. Dain connects with a Vader Bomb from the apron and tosses Riddle back into the ring. Dain climbs and hits another Vader Bomb. Dain hits a third Vader Bomb, and a fourth, and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Killian Dain
-After the match, Dain leaves, but Riddle jumps on his back and they brawl backstage as the show comes to a close.Click Here:
