This week’s episode of The Road to Double or Nothing kicks off with Chris Jericho sitting in Cody Rhodes’ office at the AEW headquarters with his feet up on the desk, sarcastically flipping through his new children’s book.

Cody enters the office and immediately gets annoyed that Jericho has “made himself at home”, but still tells him that AEW is happy to have him. Chris gets up and goes on a rant about how there would be no AEW without him, and claims that Cody is making a mockery out of him just like his old man, Dusty Rhodes, lied to him back in 1998. He once again demands a public “thank you” from every single member of the company when he defeats Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing.
Cody is pissed at this point, and tells him he doesn’t care what Dusty told him 20 years ago in South Dakota, and to take his things and get the hell out of his office. Jericho brutally attacks an employee on his way out.
We very briefly cut to a poolside photo shoot with the ladies of AEW including Brandi Rhodes, Dr. Britt Baker and Penelope Ford.
Up next is a message from PAC, who calls Hangman Page a “mossy stone”. Alright then. He says he’s been traveling the whole world challenging the best of the best, and is undefeated over the past 20 months, while Hangman has been wasting his time inspiring people with his stupid challenge. PAC calls himself a proper dirty bastard, and the bastard wins every time.
We see footage of Cody Rhodes at a local independent event in Canton, Georgia this past week for his final indie show before AEW officially kicks off. He announces that the inspirational Dustin Thomas will compete in the newly rebranded Casino Battle Royale! Dustin is a wrestler with no legs that first broke onto the scene thanks to Joey Janela’s Spring Break.
Speaking of the Casino Battle Royale, Cody finally confirms that the winner of the match will earn the very first shot at the newly crowned AEW World Heavyweight Champion. All 21 stars in the match will draw a card from a deck and be placed into “suits” – diamonds, hearts, etc. They will be released in waves of five competitors at a time, and the lucky competitor who drew the joker card will come out last.
Finally, we cut back to Canton, Georgia for the footage we’ve been waiting to see — Chris Jericho appearing at a random indie event to lay waste to the promotion’s top stars. The lights of course go out, and Kenny Omega hits the ring and immediately starts brawling with his Double or Nothing opponent. There’s a really cool shot where Jericho has the whole heel roster behind him, and Omega has the whole babyface roster behind him, and the two groups are staring each other down from across the ring before a giant brawl breaks out.
