Backstage Update on Filming Plans for Season Four of Lucha Underground

As noted, El Rey Network has given the greenlight to a fourth season of Lucha Underground, after the future of the show was in question.

According to F4WOnline.com, talents who are currently contracted to Lucha Underground have been told to cancel any and all scheduled independent bookings beginning in mid-February. This could be a forecast that LU plans to begin season four around that time.

If the above timeframe is indeed when Lucha Underground plans to tape TV, it could throw some conflicts to talent who were hoping to work the big New Japan Pro Wrestling tour also taking place in February. The current plan in LU is to begin the tapings on February 16th, and depending on how long the tapings last, it could force some talents to pull out of big NJPW bookings.

In related news, we noted back in November that El Rey Network, which airs Lucha Underground, had been pulled from Verizon Fios, however at the end of last month a deal was reached to bring back the Univision channels, meaning El Rey Network will be available to Fios customers when Lucha Underground season four debuts.
