Lucas Tousart reacts to 1-1 draw with Zenit: “We weren’t deadly enough.”

Speaking in the mixed zone following Lyon’s 1-1 draw with Zenit St Petersburg, midfielder Lucas Tousart, who was heavily criticised throughout the encounter, had the following to say.

“We were fairly coherent throughout the match but we conceded a goal against the run of play. We were quite good in terms of how we used the ball but we did not find the right openings to be able to have good situations in front of goal. We were not convincing enough in the penalty box to be able to score. We weren’t deadly enough in certain situations. We are very disappointed because we feel like there was more than enough room to take the points. In the Champions’ League, everything goes very quickly and every point is important. And tonight, everyone can have regrets about the outcome of the match and we should’ve won it. But it is not necessarily a bad result because the draw does not close any doors on us either.”
