Michael O’Neill’s side need to start picking up points to avoid relegation from their UEFA Nations League group

Northern Ireland travel to face Bosnia-Herzegovina in their third UEFA Nations League fixture on Monday.

The Northern Irish desperately need a win if they are to stave off relegation from their group, having lost both of their first two games.

Bosnia-Herzegovina, however, are in fine form and have lost just once this calendar year. 

Michael O’Neill’s side were the better team when they hosted these opponents in the reverse fixture, but a lack of cutting edge saw them lose the game 2-1.

Northern Ireland are yet to register a point in the UEFA Nations League after losing 2-1 and 1-0 to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Austria, respectively. 

If they fail to beat Robert Prosinecki’s men, they will need Austria to lose to the same opponents before beating them at home if they are to stave off relegation. 

Bosnia, however, can put themselves into a strong position with a win, which would end Northern Ireland’s already slim hopes of winning the group and leave Austria needing maximum points from their remaining games in order to leapfrog them.
