Kevin Magnussen has been cleared to race in the Italian Grand Prix following medical checks by the FIA at Monza.

The Dane injured his ankle in a heavy crash at Eau Rouge during the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, limping away after the impact which severely damaged his Renault. Magnussen was taken to hospital for precautionary checks in Belgium before being released following the race.

Magnussen had further checks in Denmark which he said showed he would be fit to race in Monza this weekend, subject to final approval from the FIA. On Thursday morning in Italy, Magnussen was given clearance and can take part in the race weekend as normal.
