FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — The city will mark the 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with the annual reading of the names at the site of the World Trade Center attack.
Hundreds of family members of the more than 2,900 victims of the terrorist attack will gather at the 9/11 Memorial at 8:40 a.m. for this year’s remembrance, which will run until noon.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum will broadcasted the ceremony live on their website. To watch, click here.
The ceremony will not include speeches. The names of the deceased will be read aloud by relatives and a bell will be rung corresponding with the times the planes struck the Twin Towers and when they each collapsed.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum will be closed for the day, but will re-open to the public at 3 p.m. Other ceremonies are scheduled throughout the city, including candlelight vigils in Queens and a ceremony at the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance in Brooklyn.
