USA Today is reporting that Ronda Rousey and WWE are currently in the process of finalizing a deal that will bring the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion to the world of professional wrestling.
As noted, Rousey has been working out and training at the WWE Performance Center facility in Orlando, Florida for the past few months, reportedly preparing for an inevitable return to the squared circle in WWE.
“Rowdy” Ronda famously appeared alongside The Rock at WrestleMania 31, and most recently appeared at the first annual Mae Young Classic and a NXT live event, leading to rumors of a showdown between the MMA and pro wrestling versions of the Four Horsewomen faction.
Rousey has included video footage of her recent pro wrestling training at the WWE Performance Center (see below), and has been the subject of some public comments from WWE executive and on-air performer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
“She is very interested in our business, always has been a huge fan, that’s where the ‘Rowdy Ronda’ came from,” Triple H told Good Morning Britain during a television appearance last month. “I think she’s interested in the opportunity, I’m interested in offering her the opportunity, so we have some talking do.”
