AEW Dynamite below one million viewers for first time since July 7

Last night’s AEW Dynamite averaged 979,000 viewers on TNT, down 11.2 percent from last week. It’s the lowest audience for the show since July 7.
The big competition on cable was the season premiere of MTV’s The Challenge, which averaged 660,000 viewers but led cable television with a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 demo.

The big drop for Dynamite was in that demo, where the show drew a 0.35 rating. That’s down 25.5 percent from last week. The actual viewership in the demo was 454,000 viewers, down from the 593,000 viewers that Dynamite averaged in the category last week. The drop in that demo of 139,000 viewers was actually higher than the overall drop of 123,000 viewers.
Year-over-year, Dynamite was up 23.6 percent in overall viewers. It’s the sixth straight week the show has had a year-over-year viewership increase of over 20 percent. In the 18-49 demo, the year-over-year increase was 9.4 percent.
As compared to the average of the last 10 weeks of Wednesday night Dynamite airings prior to this week, as shown in the chart below, the numbers were actually down for the first time in a while. The overall viewership was down 0.8 percent, while the 18-49 rating was down 7.9 percent.
