TNA star Ethan Carter III recently spoke with Busted Open Radio about what makes him such a good heel in the business right now.

During the interview, EC3 revealed his take on the reason he’s an exceptional heel compared to other “bad guys” in the business.

“I just don’t do cool moves. I know what you guys are saying and it’s very difficult, in this day and age especially, because some of the audience is – they like their villains, they like their antagonists. Probably because when you play that role, you can come out of your shell a lot more and maybe – I don’t want to say be more entertaining – be outside yourself more, be out there more. Some fans attract to that, but when people boo me, that was a compliment because I work to get those….Most of the time the fans enjoy booing me and it’s not negative ‘They don’t want to see me’. It’s they want to see me get what’s coming to me and I think that’s really important.”

He also shared his thoughts on why heels in wrestling aren’t getting as much heat as they probably should.

“I think a lot of times a lot of guys coming up – the guys that you’re supposed to cheer, the guys that you’re supposed to boo – the guys that you’re supposed to boo are doing heroic things and very impressive things and it’s hard to dislike a guy who’s beating everybody cleanly with his finish. It’s hard to dislike a guy who’s spouting off funny comments when he grabs a guy in a hold, you know? It’s hard to dislike that because it’s entertaining. It’s very hard to dislike cool-ass moves because they’re cool-ass moves and cool-ass moves are cool. If you’re an antagonist that’s cool, it kind of defeats the purpose a little bit so for me, personally, I try to stay away from that. I try to see where other heels, bad guys, villains are going and what they’re doing and I just try to be the opposite of it as much as possible. But even for me, when I’m doing promos, wrestling matches, it comes to a time where I have to do things to at least have some credibility attached to what I’m doing. It’s a very slippery slope as well, but I just got to find the right balance, I think.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross took part in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” chat this week. Below are some of the highlights.

On his WWF heel turn years ago:

“Creative thought it was the right move to make turning me heel but they were wrong. fans did not buy it and I did not execute it well.”

On his thoughts when Mick Foley fell off of Hell in a Cell:

“I though that he had broken his back or worse including being maimed.”

On crazy camera zooms on WWE RAW:

“It’s apparently someone’s artsy idea to upgrade the show. Epic Fail.”

On why he isn’t currently in WWE:

“WWE has spoken and the do not want me on their broadcasts. End of story. No worries here. I’m on PPV Sunday in Phoenix for URshow.tv and I hope that you will give us a shot. It will be a helluva, unpredictable show.”

NXT Women’s Champion Bayley recently spoke with The Daily Record to promote the upcoming NXT U.K. tour. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On taking pride in the responsibility of being a role model:

“I hope I am an inspiration, as it’s something I’ve always wanted to be. When I was younger, I had people like Lita, Ivory and Molly Holly to look up to and I try to think of how they made me feel. No matter what I do in the sport, whether it’s during matches, or outside the ring, I’m always conscious of putting on a good image. I see lots of young girls dressing up like me and I get all these tweets saying I’m an inspiration. It’s a great feeling, so it’s really important not to let anyone down.”

On the reach of WWE NXT and her newfound popularity:

“I’m noticing the more we travel outside of Florida, the more I’m noticing the impact we’re having. Like I’m touching people outside of my own state, which is crazy. I’m seeing my Hugger shirts all over the world, on everyone from little kids to grown men and women. When I started seeing that everywhere, that was when I realized something was happening. It’s really cool.”

On her cheerfulness coming natural because she loves her job:

“It’s easy for me as I really feel like a little kid when I walk out on stage. Even if I’m feeling tired, sore or beat up backstage and am thinking ‘I don’t know if I can get through this one’, as soon as I walk out there, the adrenaline just pours out of me. It’s not even something I have to think about, it’s automatic. Once I see the fans and that wrestling ring, it’s like a switch. I just love it.”

Stephanie McMahon & Roman Reigns Kick Off RAW

The post-TLC edition of RAW opens with a lengthy video package focusing on Roman Reigns snapping and attacking Triple H at last night’s PPV. From there, Stephanie McMahon’s music hits and she makes her way down to the ring as the announcers welcome us to the show and talk more about Reigns’ attack of HHH last night.

Stephanie said powerful women are still viewed as cold and ruthless. She said she’s just like the fans if you take away the money and the education. She spoke about not knowing what to tell her children when their father was spitting up blood in the hospital all night. Stephanie said Reigns left her no choice.

Roman Reigns’ music interrupted Stephanie and he made his way through the crowd and to the ring while Cole questioned whether this would be the last time we see him on Raw. Cole and JBL agreed that Reigns crossed the line by attacking “the boss.” After a staredown, Reigns said he is a father and today and his daughter’s birthday. He looked into the camera and told his daughter that he loves her and he can’t wait to see her. Reigns then said he doesn’t feel bad about kicking Triple H’s ass.

Stephanie asked Reigns how it would feel for his wife to look into his girl’s eyes and explain a beating that he took. Stephanie told him he better have something sharp to say because she’s ready. Reigns said he’s a little short on time and said if she is going to fire him, “then fire me, please.” Stephanie told Reigns to accept responsibility for his loss. She called him a failure and a disgrace. Reigns laughed off the idea of Stephanie calling him a disgrace. Reigns said the entire McMahon family is a disgrace. The fans chanted “Yes!”

Stephanie slapped Reigns, who smiled at her. She slapped him again and he smiled. Stephanie slapped Reigns repeatedly. He didn’t smile. Stephanie said “just one more thing.” She slapped him again. Stephanie said she’s not going to fire Reigns because her husband asked her not to, but she said there’s someone on his way to the the building who just might – Vincent Kennedy McMahon…

While anytime WWE uses a poll it raises questions of the legitimacy of the voting, it’s said that this year’s Slammy Awards were legitimate across the board.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that despite speculation related to WWE’s past of rigging the voting system with polls, everything was on the “up and up” as it pertains to this year’s Slammy Awards.

One of the big complaints coming out of this year’s Slammy Awards was the fact that so many top stars that won awards weren’t present to accept them, including The Rock, Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Sting and John Cena. While there is the issue of not knowing who will win ahead of time, so you’re not sure who to bring in, it’s said that the bigger issue is the perception that the awards aren’t important enough for some of the top stars to show up.

Two changes were proposed after this year’s Slammy Awards show, according to The Observer. One is to have the voting take place one week prior to the show itself, this way WWE would know ahead of time who the winners are so that they could arrange to have them at the show. In the case of The Rock, where he could still be busy with movie commitments, WWE could send film crews to record an acceptance speech.

The second change proposed was to move the annual Slammy Awards to WrestleMania week, as most of the top stars will already be in town, so there won’t be an issue with not having big stars on-hand to accept the awards in person. The problem with doing that is that WrestleMania week is already very busy, and putting the Slammy Awards on the post-WrestleMania edition of RAW would potentially ruin what has become one of the biggest and most exciting RAW shows each year.

  • Update On CM Punk’s UFC Debut, Conor McGregor’s Next Fight & Rousey/Holm 2!

WWE Performance Center head coach Matt Bloom recently spoke with WWE.com about the rumors of top New Japan Pro Wrestling stars coming to WWE. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On the rumors of AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling to come to WWE:

“It’s about time. WWE is the largest platform in the world to do what those guys love to do. They deserve to be here because they paid their dues, they worked really hard, and they made names for themselves. The best of the best come here to flourish. They’re gonna take all those years of experience, hard work and dedication, and now show it to the world on an even grander scale.”

On talking to Finn Balor about his former Bullet Club buddies possibly coming to WWE:

“He’s excited. He’s stoked. Finn is doing big things on his own right now, but I’m sure he knows that becoming the champion is difficult and staying the champion is even more difficult. He’s got an ace in his back pocket because he might have some friends coming in that have been known to watch his back. I’m sure that’s very comforting for Finn Bálor.”

On what to expect if The Bullet Club members show up in WWE:

“You hear the boss always say, “You need to reach for that brass ring.” The Bullet Club do things outside the box to continually reach for that brass ring. They’re not afraid to buck the system and be different. They’re not afraid of trying new things. The fans, the locker room, and us as coaches are very excited to see what The Bullet Club might do.”
