Eric Bischoff appeared on After 83 Weeks with Christy Olson where he discussed his departure from WWE, his conversation with Vince McMahon about AEW, NXT vs. AEW competition and whether AEW has contacted him about joining their company. Here are the highlights:

Former executive director of SmackDown Live Eric Bischoff discusses his WWE exit on the post-show for 83 Weeks, After 83 Weeks with Christy Olson. Revealing more on how he learned his short tenure was coming to an end, Eric explains why “working eighty hours a week at WWE” would have put a dent in his future plans anyway. But he’s spilling the inside details on working for Vince McMahon, including whether Vince is concerned about AEW. Going deeper into detail about than he did on his own show, Eric answers the most-asked question since getting the axe—Has AEW reached out to hire him?! Excerpts are below.

Did Vince himself deliver the news that Eric’s WWE tenure was ending?:

“Yes, I did have a very good conversation with Vince McMahon.”

If Vince is paying attention to AEW:

“Vince asked me actually, a couple of days after the first episode aired, what I thought. I was pretty honest with him. I thought the action was good. But I thought what made that show really stand out to me was just how engaged the audience is.”

Comparing AEW to NXT:

The audience, to me, made their show so much better than the NXT show. Not that there’s anything wrong with the NXT show. The action in the ring was great. The characters are great. There are a lot of great things about it. But when you put a live event inside of a small, confined studio kind of like TNA, I don’t care how great the action is in the ring. It just doesn’t have that big event feel to it.”

Whether Eric has talked to AEW about working for them:

“I have not spoken with anybody from AEW. Not one conversation. The last conversation I had with anybody that’s currently in AEW was probably Cody Rhodes, and that was about two years ago…It was right after he left WWE and I called him, just to congratulate him and let him know how much I respected his decision.”

Why he was planning to only work at WWE for a few years:

“My wife and I have a beautiful home in Wyoming. We want to travel. There’s a lot of things that we still want to be able to do, and working eighty hours a week at WWE would put a little bit of a dent in those plans.”

Does Eric want to continue working in the wrestling business?:

“Of course. You know, I always will. Thats what I’ve done for the largest part of my adult life, and I still have a passion for it. I think this latest experiment probably proved to me more than anything that it has to be the right opportunity. Not just right for whoever I would work with, but right for me as well.”

— NXT shows are booked through January at Full Sail University which means that the rumored move to other, larger venues doesn’t appear to be happening until at least February. The latest plan still calls for WWE to hold their NXT shows jointly at Full Sail and at other arenas around the country for much of 2020, perhaps as a response to AEW.

— The following are results for next week’s AEW Dark, airing on Tuesday evening on YouTube. The results are from f4wonline.com:

Kenny Omega vs. Kip Sabian headlined last night’s AEW Dark tapings at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois.

The tapings included one match that was taped before Dynamite went on the air and two that were taped after. Here are the results:

– Scorpio Sky defeated Peter Avalon and Jimmy Havoc in a triple threat match

Sky picked up the win here after unsuccessfully challenging for Chris Jericho’s AEW World Championship in the main event of last week’s Dynamite.

– Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Marko Stunt) defeated John Silver & Alex Reynolds

– Kenny Omega defeated Kip Sabian

This was the third match that Omega has had on AEW Dark. He defended his AAA Mega Championship against Jack Evans on the episode that aired last week and defeated Joey Janela in an unsanctioned match in October.

Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy, and Britt Baker made appearances as guest commentators at last night’s tapings.

According to the Wrestling Observer, AEW has signed indie wrestlers John Silver and Alex Reynolds. The duo, who are known as the Beaver Boys on the circuit, made their debut on the third episode of AEW’s weekly episodic Dynamite, where they lost to the Inner Circle’s Proud and Powerful. They also teamed with QT Marshall on the Halloween edition of Dynamite in a losing effort against Best Friends and Orange Cassidy. A recent video package indicates that Reynolds and Silver may be aligning with the Dark Order.

Prior to AEW, the Beaver Boys are best known for their work in Beyond Wrestling, but have also appeared in CZW, NYWC/Outlaw Wrestling, and multiple other promotions throughout the U.S.

— WWE’s Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon recently spoke to Sportskeeda and here are the highlights:

On Ronda Rousey’s Future With WWE

“Ronda [Rousey] will definitely be back, that is the plan – but, as of now, I’m not sure where and when.”

On WWE Introducing Another Women’s Title

“Possibly! I know there aren’t any talks happening with regards to adding another Women’s Championship at the moment, but possibly. As the Women’s Division continues to grow, there may be a need for one.”

On Whether WWE Will Ever Move Away From PG-Rated Shows

“Well, we’re still going to be PG, family friendly, but there is room to push the envelope in some cases. In terms of the Lana-Bobby Lashley storyline, WWE is like a variety show. It is, at the end of the day, competition-based, but especially on RAW and SmackDown, you have more of those soap operatic storylines, and that’s why it’s been showcased on RAW.”
