Ligue 1 leaders OGC Nice have approached Portuguese giants FC Porto for Algerian international Yacine Brahimi, according to L’Équipe.

Les Aiglons are looking to sign Brahimi on loan with an option to buy, as the former Everton target has been left out of proceedings by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Brahimi is due to be included in Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations squad, which would take him out of action for the first month of 2017, but that is not preventing Nice from pursuing the attacking midfielder.

FC Porto now must respond to OGC Nice’s enquiry.

French international attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has decided to remain at PSG next month, despite intense interest from Fenerbahce and Besiktas, according to L’Équipe.

OGC Nice President Rivère has also kept the door open for a possible Ben Arfa return on loan, if the player wants, but the former Newcastle man appears resolute in his desire to make a success of himself at the capital club.

FC Lorient are in advanced negotiations with Portuguese outfit Rio Ave over the possible signing of defensive midfielder Alhassan Wakaso, according to L’Équipe.

The 25 year old Ghanaian is understood to have agreed to the move, with just loose ends to tie up here.

For the first notable occasion during this January window, West Ham United have given a clear indication that they are willing to sell French international attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet today in a meeting with Marseille President Jacques-Henri Eyraud and Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarretta, according to L’Équipe.

OM did not make an offer for Payet in that meeting, according the French publication and contrary to reports from Sky Sports that indicate that West Ham rejected a second offer from Marseille in that meeting which was only worth £1m more than the initial bid made.

L’Équipe reject this hypothesis, insisting that no new offer has been made since the €22m plus €3m bonus bid that was lodged and rejected last week.

However, the French publication report that a new offer will be made by OM in the coming hours.

West Ham have accepted to sell, now it is all about the price.

Due to a lack of playing time at the Ligue 2 club, Clermont Foot have announced that they have cut the loan of attacker Alexis Busin six months earlier than the deal was meant to end.

Busin, 21, has found game time hard to come by in the French second division, featuring only 6 times in Ligue 2 and twice in the Coupe de la Ligue, failing to score or create a goal in any of those games.

The right winger has made 34 appearances for Nancy, scoring 4 goals and grabbing one assist, and with a good work ethic and application in training, he could find himself in the team soon, finally making an appearance in Ligue 1.

The trio of French sides are all said to have had bids of around €6m rejected for the Ivorian international, who is expected home imminently after his side were eliminated from AFCON.

Angers want €10m in order to allow the player to leave.

Marseille have had an offer accepted for Bordeaux’s French central midfielder or defender Grégory Sertic worth €2m, according to Le Parisien.

The player is set to join OM on a four year deal, according to the report, whether that means 4.5 or 3.5 is unclear.

Sertic’s Marseille contract was due to expire with Bordeaux at the end of the current campaign.

Celtic striker and French youth international Moussa Dembélé intends to reject all offers made for him this month, according to sources contacted by Get French Football News.

Chelsea, and PSG, have made a play for the former Fulham man in an indirect manner this month, but Dembélé wants to see the season out with Celtic.

PSG Director of Football Patrick Kluivert is an enormous fan of the French forward.

However, if a club in the final hours of the window meets Celtic’s £40m valuation for the player, Dembélé will be helpless but to strongly consider whatever club has come in for him as it would represent an enormous deal financially for the Scottish side.

Speaking to RMC last night, Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny discussed the future of the club’s boss, Arsène Wenger.

“I think that the squad is still receptive to Arsène Wenger’s message. The manager is there to prepare the players physically, tactically and to bring organisation to the pitch.
