The former Manchester United and Chelsea manager had nothing but kinds words to say about the legendary ex-Arsenal boss

Jose Mourinho has ended his feud with former rival manager Arsene Wenger following the latter’s Lifetime Achievement award at Laureus World Sports Awards on Monday.

The pair have clashed in the past while they were both in Premier League management, with Mourinho branding the Frenchman a “specialist in failure”.

Wenger also pushed Mourinho during the Portuguese’s second stint in charge of Chelsea before he went on to manage Manchester United.

The pair are now enjoying some time out of the sport which has allowed for the adrenaline to settle, leading Mourinho to credit the Frenchman’s achievements despite his previous comments.

The 56-year-old had nothing but nice words to say about his former rival and claimed he was one of the best managers in the game.

“There were some episodes along the road,” Mourinho said in a recorded message at Monday night’s Laureus World Sports Awards.

“I can only speak by myself. I really enjoyed the competition. But the real respect is always there. He made lots of history in that football club.

“One of the best football managers in the history of football.”

Wenger guided Arsenal to a sixth-place finish last season, which was their worst Premier League result since they finished 12th in 1995.

However, the Frenchman was recognised for his award due to his commitment and success with Arsenal over a 22-year period where he won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.

The 69-year-old also helped Arsenal to the Champions League final in 2006, which they eventually lost to Barcelona.

Wenger only left the club in the summer of 2018 with Unai Emery coming in to replace him at the Emirates, but he is yet to take on another managerial job.

Mourinho also paid tribute to the Frenchman’s ability to guide his Arsenal side to an undefeated season back in 2003/04

“The nickname is there – the Invincibles,” he added. “Amazing. A coaching philosophy, the almost perfect team.”

This season, the Gunners are currently fifth in the Premier League, just a single point behind fourth-place Manchester United.

The north London club’s next game is against Southampton on Sunday in the league before a home clash against Bournemouth on February 27.

The fact that Hailey Bieber is technically already married to her husband, Justin Bieber, didn’t stop the model from making the most of her bachelorette party. The model’s party took place in Los Angeles overnight, ahead of her second wedding, which is reportedly set to take South Carolina by storm on September 30.

The pair, who officially tied the knot in September 2018 in a New York courthouse, plan to celebrate their union with family and friends this coming weekend, and People reports Kendall Jenner took it upon herself to take a break from walking the runway this fashion month, in order to throw her friend a party.

Prior to the event, People reports Jenner was spotted stocking up on bachelorette party supplies at a store called Hustler Hollywood. “She was laughing as she picked up classic bachelorette suppliers, including phallic-shaped straws and sex toys,” a source told the publication.

“Kendall planned the night for Hailey. They had dinner at Ysabel followed by dancing at Delilah,” another source told E! News. “There was lots of screaming and giggling. When Hailey saw everything she was dying laughing and got a big kick out of it all.”

Per E! News, the women had a private area reserved for the evening, where they were served appetisers and dessert.

“Hailey was sitting with all her girlfriends at a table and was cheersing drinks with a huge smile on her face,” the source shared with E! News of the celebration. “They were all drinking tequila cocktails. Hailey was dancing to the loud hip hop music with Maeve and Kendall for bit and they were loving it.”

Images from the bachelorette party have since surfaced on Instagram, with many of the event’s attendees taking to the platform with photos of Bieber in a short white dress paired with a veil, and a bejewelled purple goblet in hand.

There is no denying that each and every time Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle–two of our favourite members of the British royal family–step out in public, we reach for our phones to search Instagram for images and Twitter for news, while simultaneously texting our friends about their outfit choices.

Now, thanks to a tech company called Drkhors, we can upgrade those messages with emojis that we are sure to become royally obsessed with. That’s right, the time to swap the boring yellow crown for a jewel-encrusted tiara is now, as Drkhors has launched Katemoji and MeghanMoji.

Each of the apps are available in the App Store and on Google Play in over 155 countries, and feature over 100 emoji stickers, animated emojis, and phrase emojis created with hand-lettering, courtesy of calligraphy artist Cathy Yu.

According to a statement released by the company behind the ingenious concept, Katemoji was inspired by “iconic and everyday moments we adore from Kate and her family”, while MeghanMoji serves to celebrate “Meghan [and] Harry’s love story plus their growing family”.

While the Katemoji app includes a range of stickers that feature Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, the Queen, and even their dog Lupo, MeghanMoji’s range contains images of Prince Harry, Archie, and her dog Guy.

Congratulations are in order for Princess Beatrice and partner Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, with news of their engagement breaking just minutes ago.

As was confirmed by both Buckingham Palace and the Duke and Duchess of York via Twitter, Princess Beatrice and her property tycoon beau are set to tie the knot.

According to the palace’s official announcement, which they themselves had posted to the social media platform, the newly-engaged couple became engaged while vacationing in Italy earlier this month, with their nuptials anticipated to take place some time in 2020.

With the palace confirming that more details surrounding their royal wedding are soon to come, we wait with bated breath and filled with excitement for yet another royal wedding!

Following the palace’s official announcement, they had also issued a statement on behalf of the newly-engaged couple in which they express their excitement for the happy occasion: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.”

In addition to the sweet words in their initial statement, the couple went on, issuing yet another comment on their impending nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of York’s Twitter page: “We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Of course, sisters being sisters, Princess Eugenie also wanted to send well wishes to her sister and her newly-minted fiance, sending her very own congratulations via her official Instagram account.

“Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be…” And much to our delight, her congratulatory posts came with a whole lot of photographic evidence captured by her of the newly-engaged couple, with a number of them putting Princess Beatrice’s gorgeous engagement ring on full display.

The princess’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, also pitched in with posting photographs from her daughter’s engagement, as any proud mother would.

According to the Duke of York’s official website, Mozzi designed the ring—which features a round brilliant cut diamond cushioned between two rectangular baguette diamonds—in collaboration with the British jewellery designer Shaun Leane. No further details on the diamond yet, so watch this space.

But what we do know is who designed the dress in Princess Beatrice’s engagement portraits, and it’s none other than Australian label Zimmermann, selecting their Allia floral print linen dress for their shoot, as identified by Metro UK. We love to know that Australia had some small part in the happy occasion!

The Real Madrid boss is similar to his predecessor, according to the midfielder

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro compared Santiago Solari’s approach to that of former coach Zinedine Zidane.

Solari took over at the Santiago Bernabeu in October last year, but is under pressure amid Madrid’s struggles, the club having lost three of their past four games.

However, Casemiro feels the Argentinian can be compared to Zidane, who resigned at the end of last season after guiding Madrid to three Champions League titles and a LaLiga crown.

“It would be unfair to single out one coach,” he told Esporte Interativo.

“[Jose] Mourinho, [Carlo] Ancelotti, Zidane, Rafa Benitez… each one had their own important characteristics.

“With Zidane he had a lot of relationships with the players, a father-son relationship. Like a friend.

“Solari does the same, he is being fair to everyone.”

Looking for a return to form, Madrid host Ajax on Tuesday, holding a 2-1 aggregate lead in the Champions League last-16 tie.

Casemiro said it was natural for teams to endure tough periods, but the Brazil international wants success.

“It’s normal for a team to have low moments. We’re growing now,” he said.

“Now comes the most important thing [the Champions League]. We have tough opponents and we’re focused on winning all of the trophies, but it’s hard.”

The Frenchman was sacked after the Foxes’ 4-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace – their fifth loss in six Premier League matches

Claude Puel has sent a dignified message to Leicester City after he was sacked as the club’s manager following the 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Goals from Michy Batshuayi, Wilfried Zaha (2) and Luka Milivojevic brought Puel’s 16-month tenure at the King Power Stadium to a dismal end.

Pressure had been mounting on the former Southampton boss, whose side have not won in the Premier League since a 1-0 victory over Everton on January 1, losing five of their seven league matches in 2019 in total, as well as exiting the FA Cup at the first hurdle to Newport County.

Impressive results against the Premier League’s top-six sides had helped Puel hold on, but Leicester’s hierarchy announced on Sunday that the Frenchman had been relieved of his duties.

In a statement issued by the League Manager’s Association, Puel sent a message of thanks to the club, which he managed through one of its most difficult spells when chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was one of five people killed in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium in October 2018.

“I would like to thank everyone that I worked with at Leicester,” Puel stated.

“It was a privilege to work with the players, the staff and the management. I would also like to thank the fans for their fantastic support.

“I really appreciate the willingness to learn and work ethic of all of the players and I have no doubt that they will all have bright futures. 

“It was my honour to work for the late and much loved Khun Vichai, who gave me the fantastic opportunity to manage his club and share some great moments with him.

“My mission at Leicester ends here but I will continue to follow the performances of the team and wish the club all the best for the future.”

Jonny Evans scored the final goal of Puel’s reign at Leicester, restoring parity against Palace before Zaha and Milivojevic took the game away from their hosts, and he insisted the players must take their share of the blame.

“We got called into a meeting [on Sunday], the manager spoke, he spoke well, to the players and informed us of the club’s decision,” Evans told Sky Sports. 

“He wished us all the best for the future. We feel responsible for a lot of things, when you lose games, you feel like you’re letting a lot of people down, not just the manager.

“As players, you never really know [if a manager is going to get sacked]. Everyone is trying to gauge what’s going on, but we don’t know what the club’s thinking behind the scenes.”

First-team coach Mike Stowell will take charge of Leicester’s next Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday.

“It’s always sad to see a manager leave the club,” Stowell told a news conference.

“[Puel] had the club at heart. Performances have been really good, but sometimes you don’t get the rub of the green.”

Back to playing catch up in the Premier League standings, Pep Guardiola will want the win to keep the pressure on leaders Liverpool

Manchester City play host to West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, with regaining top spot in the Premier League their immediate target.

Pep Guardiola’s men picked up silverware at the weekend as they defeated Chelsea on penalties in a match that will be best remembered for Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refusing to be replaced before the shootout.

They had gone into Sunday leading the league, but Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United saw them fall a point behind the Reds.

West Ham, meanwhile, had cemented their position in the heart of the standings two days earlier with a 3-1 win over Fulham and will seek to keep their momentum going, despite the monumental task that lies ahead.

In the United States (US), the game can be streamed via NBC Sports Gold.

In the United Kingdom (UK), the game will not be shown on television or streamed.

Manchester City lost Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho to injuries at the weekend, with both set to miss out for several weeks.

Claudio Bravo, John Stones and Gabriel Jesus are all still laid up, although Benjamin Mendy is training again and could play some role.

Manchester City might have picked up the first silverware of the domestic season, but they have their eyes firmly set on greater goals than the Carabao Cup, which they claimed with a penalty shootout victory over Chelsea.

Indeed, they are currently chasing four titles, with Kevin De Bruyne of the belief that if Pep Guardiola’s men can complete a clean sweep they will become “the best team ever”.

“We want to win as much as possible but not to think about the quadruple. If we win three and then play the Champions League final then maybe we can talk about it. Before that, no way!” the Belgian told Sky Sports .

De Bruyne did admit that he feels the challenge is “almost impossible” and certainly there is little scope for error with City now playing catch up in the league as they trail Liverpool by a point.

Guardiola, meanwhile, wants full commitment from his players .

“I don’t want to see excuses from my players about tiredness or the amount of games, that is nothing when you have to fight until the end to the retain the title,” he explained.

“The power and energy to achieve that is higher than any excuses you can find.

“The last few months of the season, the mentality makes the difference.

“I want to smell in the locker room, at the beginning of the game and during the game, if we really want to win this title.”

Manuel Pellegrini, who guided City to their second Premier League title, returns to the Etihad for the first time since leaving in 2016 aiming to put a spanner in their works at the helm of West Ham. 

“He did an incredible job,” Guardiola said . “The league he won was outstanding, the number of goals, the way they played. He had a good team and they did well.”

Pellegrini, meanwhile, does not forecast his former club being significantly weakened following their marathon against Chelsea on Sunday.

“I don’t think they will be weaker than normal on Wednesday,” he said.

“Playing 120 minutes of course is a lot, a long game, but they have a strong squad, they can make the changes that they want and continue to have the best squad in the Premier League.”

With the Hammers looking up the table after a three-match undefeated run, there will be no room for sentiment on the part of the Argentine.

Highlanders winger Waisake Naholo will miss the Super Rugby clash with the Western Force in Perth on Saturday after copping a one-game ban for a shoulder charge against the Bulls.

All Blacks flyer Naholo was sent off for the incident midway through the second half of Saturday’s 17-10 win in Pretoria.

His shoulder collected the head of Burger Odendaal after the Bulls inside centre passed the ball.

A SANZAAR foul play review committee accepted a guilty plea from Naholo and said the incident was at the lower end of the scale.

A two-week ban was reduced because of Naholo’s good judicial record and early plea.
