The 29-year-old felt it was time for a move in search of more playing time as he hopes to keep his England career going

Fabian Delph says he made the decision to leave Manchester City in hopes of boosting his chances of playing for England.

Delph completed an £8.5 million ($11m) move to Everton last week, ending a four-year run with the City side he joined in the summer of 2015.

Having won the Premier League twice with the Manchester club, Delph made the decision to leave in search of more regular playing time this summer, with Everton his landing spot heading into the new season as he hopes to keep his place in the England squad.

“From a personal point of view, I felt it was time for a change,” he said to The Daily Mail. “I could have stayed there. They were happy with me. I wasn’t told to leave. I played quite a key role within that squad.

“I had a fantastic four years there, thoroughly enjoyed it, but I wanted a new challenge. I wanted to play more football.

“Playing for England is massive for me, so if I’m playing more regularly, there’s more chance of me being selected.

“I’ve got a great relationship with Gareth [Southgate] and the England lads, we’re a really close group. The mentality there is fantastic.”

Delph has been a regular for England under Southgate and started the Nations League semi-final loss to the Netherlands earlier this summer.

The move to Everton should offer a regular starting spot for the 29-year-old, though it also brings an adjustment to a new manager.

And while Delph was impressed with Pep Guardiola’s style at his old club, he claims training under his new boss Marco Silva is tougher than it was with the Premier League champions.

“The volume is a lot higher, we cover a lot more distance,” he said. “There’s a lot more intensity and you definitely feel like you’ve worked come the end of the day.

“I love it. There’s nothing worse for me than going home with energy.

“City’s training is very good, it’s shorter and sharper and is the way the manager likes the lads to play.”

Having drawn 0-0 with Wigan on Tuesday, Everton will take on Werder Bremen in a pre-season friendly on Aug. 3 before facing their first Premier League test of the season against Crystal Palace a week later.

The Gunners’ latest pre-season trip takes them to France, where they will help the Ligue 1 side celebrate their 100th anniversary

Arsenal travel to Stade Raymond-Kopa in France to meet Angers in friendly action on Wednesday.

It will be the second time in four days that the Gunners have played a Ligue 1 club, having suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Lyon in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.

Unai Emery’s side, though, have enjoyed a strong pre-season campaign, in which they have beaten Bayern Munich and Fiorentina, and drawn with Real Madrid.

Angers, meanwhile, have organised this match in order to celebrate their 100th anniversary and will want to make it as much of a celebration as possible.

Angers could hand a debut to Mathias Pereira Lage, who arrived on Tuesday from Ligue 2 outfit Clermont.

However, they will be without Angelo Fulgini, who suffered an adductor injury against Feyenoord that will keep him out for between six and eight weeks.

Former Arsenal man Jeff Reine-Adelaide should start in midfield.

Alexandre Lacazette will be missing for Arsenal after twisting an ankle against Lyon at the weekend, though the injury is not as serious as it first appeared.

Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Emile Smith Rowe are all injured.

Dani Ceballos has not travelled to France, while Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are again left out.

Laurent Koscielny is absent as he attempts to manufacture a move back to France, while goalkeeper Bernd Leno has also been left out of the 20-man travelling squad.

Arsenal are rated as 8/15 favourites to win this match with Bet365. Angers are a 9/2 shot, while the draw is 10/3.

Nine days out from the start of the Premier League season, Arsenal play their penultimate friendly in what has been a packed summer against Ligue 1 side Angers.

It will be the sixth pre-season match in 15 days for Unai Emery’s side, who have won three, drawn one and lost for the first time on Sunday against Lyon.

Despite that setback, things are coming along nicely for the Gunners, who finally completed a move to sign William Saliba from Saint-Etienne, albeit loaning him immediately back, while a deal for Lille star Nicolas Pepe is expected to be completed imminently.

Goalkeeper Bernd Leno certainly thinks the blend in the squad is the correct one, as he explained to the club’s official website in the aftermath of the Lyon match: “When you see how the experienced players help the young players adapt, it’s very good. And you see on the pitch everybody is like a big family, but we can also talk about negative things. Nobody gets mad at each other. I think it’s also important to be honest with each other. That’s what you need for a good performance and for a good team.”

After the setback at the weekend in a match in which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had given them the lead, they will want to bounce back with a more positive result in eastern France.

Angers, though, will be doing their utmost to ensure that their 100th birthday celebrations are not dampened. The Ligue 1 side have released a collector’s edition shirt especially for the occasion, and are seeking to build on a decent pre-season that saw them suffer a first defeat of the summer against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

This also represents a small chance to get one over on Emery, who beat Angers five times in five matches when in charge of Paris Saint-Germain – including the 2017 Coupe de France final.

FashionUnited publishes a series of interviews dedicated to the most requested professionals in the fashion industry, both by the brands and by companies active in fashion and luxury e-commerce. We decided to hear from fashion and e-commerce companies to understand the most popular roles, how much can be gained by those in these positions, what are the best training paths and attitudes required to find a job and make a career in fashion and luxury. This week we interviewed Astrid Arndt, vice president of business engagement and recruitment for Zalando, e-tailer with headquarters in Berlin, which closed the first quarter with revenues up 15.2 percent to 1.4 billion euros.

What are the most sought after profiles now and what will be the most popular in the coming months?

Zalando wants to become the starting point for fashion, providing over 26 million customers in Europe with the most relevant assortment in fashion and beauty. We offer over 400,000 items from almost 2,000 brands. To make sure we have the latest trends and brands that our customers are looking for, merchandisers and buyers are always in demand at Zalando. Because we base all our business decisions on data, in addition to a strong sense of fashion, these roles also require an analytical mindset. Being able to extract data allows both merchandisers and buyers to better understand customer requirements and make the right decisions in their daily work. In the recruitment process, we also focus on trend forecasting and brand strategy skills.

What do these professions do? How much can they aspire to earn?

Buyers and merchandisers work closely together and their job is to ensure that our customers have access to the right choice of products, which means providing them with the right trends and clothes at the right time and at the right price. Buyers are responsible for planning and selecting the items to sell in our fashion store. This role requires the ability to make decisions based on the synthesis of several factors such as customer demand, quality or brand policy. Possessing an exceptional sensitivity to market trends, keeping up and responding to market changes as well as understanding the needs and behaviors of consumers to provide them with a commercially sustainable choice are other necessary requirements for this role. Merchandisers are involved from planning to delivery of collections by brands, ensuring timely deliveries. They also play a key role in forecasting, stock planning and performance monitoring.

Salaries and the activities performed by these roles are highly dependent on the level of experience. Specifically, Zalando’s remuneration model follows internal remuneration bands established according to work families to ensure fair compensation for similar professional profiles and is complemented by variable factors at management level such as stock options. Professional growth is also extremely encouraged in all roles at Zalando. We offer great flexibility and development opportunities through internal training and mentoring activities and staff rotation in different tasks, to name but a few.

What kind of training and skills are needed?

For these roles we are looking for graduates, a course of study in fashion management or retail management is considered advantageous but not mandatory. Much more important is the practical experience in these roles to develop the necessary skills. The skills required depend on the level of seniority, but generally good stakeholder management, clear communication, a solution-oriented approach and analytical thinking are highly valued for these positions.

Do you find it difficult to find the right professionals for your research?

Sometimes it can be difficult to identify niche profiles; for example, buyers who have experience in a very specific category such as denim menswear with off-price experience. This profile should have experience not only in men’s denim but also in an off-price business model, such as Zalando Privé.

What are the right characteristics and aptitudes to work in an environment like yours?

The right candidates should identify with the values that characterize Zalando’s corporate culture: deep customer orientation, entrepreneurial mentality, speed and team spirit. These values allow us to offer our customers the best possible shopping experience and to offer our partners the best possible environment. It is also very important to be versatile and open to new experiences. We aim to find the right candidates who are able to see things in perspective and always report their actions to our business strategy.

The original version of this interview was published on May 9th, 2019 on FashionUnited Italy. The text has been translated and slightly abbreviated for an international audience.

System SpringSummer 2020

September 7, 2019 | News | No Comments

System stands for a progressive take on classicism. It is a collection that invites the wearer to playfreely and personally with items that are thought through and studiedly simple in design and cut in luxurious fabrications. Volumes are loose, colours are timeless. The pervasive sense of ease conveys an effortless idea of modern dressing.

Both the men’s and the women’s collections are presented today as models move around mirrored totems run with sequences of neon lights. The fluidity with which these individuals wander and confront one with the other in the industrial space mirrors the time-travelling, everything-is-possible mindset of the collection. Past, present and future mingle and merge in the now as classic elements morph seamlessly into futuristic ones. Sequence is the byword.

Click Here: Cheap Golf Golf Clubs

The mix of materials translates this assumption into a bold visual statement: shiny hi-tech or industrial fabrics are added up with matte, natural ones; a nylon blouson is united to a trench, meant to be worn as an under layer or as an external shell; parts taken from different sneakers are mounted into polymorphous new Converse styles. The look is futuristic, with a feel of classicism and an urban edge. Outerwear is strong in both volume and shapes, while tailored jackets have a refined appeal.

The pillars of the metropolitan wardrobe are given the subtle yet palpable System studios touch: leather jackets, denim or cargo pants, shirts come in sums of materials or reconsidered volumes. Assertive prints add another layer of meaning to the whole, suggesting futuristic scenarios with a vintage appeal. Traveling fast from past to future, a fluid present is defined.

Mauricio Pochettino has urged patience with Spurs’ big-money signing, with the Argentine aware that the Frenchman will need time to settle

Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham “cannot expect too much” from Tanguy Ndombele despite investing a club-record £65 million ($79m) in him.

Spurs spent big on the 23-year-old midfielder when luring him away from Lyon.

He has shown flashes of what he is capable of during pre-season, with there the promise of much more to come.

Pochettino is, however, aware that adapting to life in England can be “difficult” and has urged patience when it comes to Ndombele and his immediate impact in north London.

The Argentine tactician has said: “For him it’s difficult. We cannot expect too much.

“We need to accept he needs time to adapt to first a new culture, a new country, new habits.

“Of course it’s only him who arrived to the club and that makes it more difficult. When a few players are new they can help each other but it’s only him.

“We need to give him time but I am happy in the way he is adapting. He is open to improving and learning but needs time to [until we] see the best version of him.”

Pochettino has been freed to spend again this summer after two windows of no movement at Spurs.

Ndombele is among those to have been drafted in and there could be more arrivals before the Premier League deadline passes on Thursday.

Pochettino has hinted at further additions, although he has previously pointed out that recruitment calls lie outside of his control as head coach.

“I am happy with my squad,” he added    .

“In every season we are always open to improve the squad and to try to find the right players to be stronger and better and there are still four days.

“We’ll see what happens in the next few days.”

Spurs are reported to still have a number of targets in their sights.

Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon has seen a switch across London mooted for some time and has entered the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage, while Real Betis midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso has been the subject of speculation regarding a move to England for much of the summer.

The Brazilian played his part in inflicting one of football’s most crushing defeats on the team that would eventually go on to sign him

Neymar has revealed that he predicted he would score two goals in Barcelona’s history-making 6-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain back in 2017.

Trailing 4-0 after being humbled in the first leg in France, Barca returned to Camp Nou in need of a miracle.

And, after producing a sensational performance in the return meeting, they pulled off what seemed to be the impossible to put six past the French side and advance to the quarter-finals.

Neymar, however, claims that he always knew the Blaugrana would win at home and that he would play his part in turning a disastrous first-leg result on its head.

“Two of my friends said that PSG had a great team – and they did – and that they had already qualified, this and that…” the 27-year-old told DAZN.

“But I got up and said: ‘You are my friends, you work with me, but it seems you don’t believe we can turn this game around. We will reverse this situation, and I promise you two goals’.

“We had trained in the morning and I saw each player’s face. Everyone was happy, nobody was down or worried about reversing the situation against PSG. We knew it would be very difficult to reverse the game.

“Our conversation was about playing football as it had always been Barcelona’s play to display good football, to turn a football game into a show.

“We knew we would win. We didn’t know if we would go through to the next round, but we knew we would win because we knew we would play our part very well.

“When the game began, it started with a different vibe. I was challenging everyone, running more than ever. It was one of, if not the biggest match I’ve ever played in and one of the most emotional.

“We scored the first two goals quickly so we were thrilled. We went into half-time 2-0 up with two more goals to score. The team we had was different – we didn’t go about screaming in the dressing room. No, it was a conversation.

“We were very calm, very focused, relaxed and the only conversation I remember having was: ‘Keep calm, let’s do it goal by goal’. We were not worried about going into the next round. I think that’s why we played really well that day. We were not desperate. We were quiet and focused.

“The atmosphere after the second goal was different. We saw that the fans were believing. They kept shouting, encouraging us.

“When we scored the third goal, it was Leo [Messi] who scored. I won the penalty, he scored it.  The fans were on fire and we thought: ‘Let’s go, now we’re going to go through’.

“At that moment, we suffered a blow, [Edinson] Cavani’s goal. When we conceded the goal, we saw everyone was half-hearted, doing that face: ‘We’re f*cked’. It became more difficult, it was practically impossible. Everyone thought we would score another, but now we had to score three.

“We still tried to keep playing our football, to continue to score goals, to see what would happen. We just hoped not to concede any more goals. One goal had already complicated things because we had to score three. Two? Forget about it.

“I still believed. I still wanted to score those two goals I promised to my friends. Oh, it gives me shivers, a lot of strong emotions definitely.”

With 88 minutes gone, Neymar curled a spectacular free-kick into the top-left corner to deliver the first half of his promise and take the score 4-1 in Barca’s favour, although it remained 5-4 to PSG on aggregate.

Moments later, Luis Suarez won a penalty and it was the Brazilian who was charged with the responsibility to take it.

“I was going to give it to Leo, but Leo told me to take the penalty,” Neymar recalled. “He said: ‘No, you go’. I said: ‘Me?’ He said: ‘Yes, you do it’.

“My only thought was that I could not miss that penalty, because if I missed the penalty I would end the stadium’s dream of going through to the next round.

“It was the most I’ve ever focused on a penalty, and thank God I managed to score. I kept the promise of two goals. That was the moment I thought we had it. I asked Leo: ‘Why did you let me take that penalty?’

“He said: ‘I felt at that moment that you would score the goal, that you were more confident’. I think he had that feeling, and it turned out alright. The penalty brought the possibility, the strength, to score the sixth goal.”

Only seconds remained of second-half injury time as Barca pushed for a match-winning strike and it was Neymar himself who engineered the move to send Sergi Roberto through on goal to complete one of the greatest Champions League comebacks ever.

“In that game, the most striking goal was Sergi Roberto’s,” Neymar said. “It was the goal that made us go through. It’s the goal that will be remembered in history and I’m happy to have made the move, but his goal was special – that’s when the Camp Nou exploded.

“That was the most important goal. I think that, in terms of excitement, in terms of making everyone crazy, that was one of the most important goals in Barcelona history.

“I wasn’t crying, I was over the moon! It was crazy. I had never seen Camp Nou like that. After the sixth goal, the explosion was huge, both for the players and the fans. It was something that I don’t think I’ll ever live through again.

“That’s why I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.”

The left-back has outlined the big aspirations that last season’s Champions League winners have for the coming campaign

Andy Robertson is aware that Liverpool’s players have big expectations to live up to this season, but is confident they will again be involved in the Premier League title race.

Manchester City pipped the Reds to the trophy by one point on the final day of last season, although Liverpool’s tally of 97 points was the highest ever by a second-place team in a 38-game season.

Robertson started in all bar two of Liverpool’s league fixtures last term, including the nine-game winning streak at the end of the campaign, which was still not enough to overhaul City in the table.

The left-back also started the club’s Champions League final win over Tottenham and he is keen for the triumph in Madrid not to be seen as the climax for this ambitious group of players.

“We don’t want to be a team that only won the Champions League,” Robertson told BBC Radio 5 Live. “We want to leave a legacy and win more trophies. ”

The Scotsman lamented the fact that the club missed out on top spot in the league despite their highest ever points total.

“We set records that will probably never be done again and we still fell short,” Robertson added.

He believes that the players are capable of matching last season’s efforts in the league again this time round, saying: “We believe if we do what we did last season we will be in the race again.”

Liverpool finished 25 points ahead of third-place Chelsea but the 25-year-old predicted that more teams will vie for top spot this season.

“Last year, from the turn of the year, it was probably a two-horse race but I do believe it will be more competitive at the top this season,” he continued.

“I think the teams behind us have improved in the market. Whether the signings are successful is another thing but they are trying to close the gap.”

Jurgen Klopp has been quiet in the transfer market this summer with teenagers Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott, and reserve goalkeeper Adrian, the only arrivals, but Robertson is unconcerned by the lack of high-profile signings.

“Everyone wants new players coming in and sometimes it’s not possible. We have a very good squad.”

Liverpool open the Premier League season at Anfield on Friday night with a match against newly-promoted Norwich.

Aged 70 she was working 20 hours a day in a
hospital just to make ends meet.

Now at 75, Choi Soon-hwa is an unlikely fashion star and model in South
Korea, one of a handful of seniors who have become social media and fashion
celebrities in a country where intergenerational conflict is mounting as the
population ages.

“I think of having this job at this age as a miracle,” Choi says.

She is now the oldest professional model in the South, and has walked
runway at Seoul Fashion Week. It is a far cry from her life even just a few
years ago when she was a care worker, forced to take long shifts often seven
days a week.

Click Here: collingwood magpies 2019 training guernsey

“It was hard to even get myself lunch. The stress was excruciating — it
was as if a volcano was about to erupt inside me,” she confesses adding that
she was in heavy debt and all her earnings were spent paying off loans.

Around 45 percent live of older people in South Korea live in relative
poverty and the country has one of the weakest social safety nets among
developed nations.

By chance Choi saw a TV commercial about senior models and saw an
opportunity to make a change.

She decided to enroll in classes and was snapped by agency The Show
Project
and made catwalk debut soon after.

When she worked at the hospital, she says she had to dye her hair as
patients didn’t want someone who “looked too old” to look after them. Now
her
pale locks have become an asset to a new generation of designers who value
distinctiveness.

Life of hardship

“I make clothes for those in their 20s and early 30s,” explains Kim
Hee-jin, a 32-year-old designer who hired Choi for her Seoul Fashion Week
show
last year, where the senior model donned a bright purple padded jacket,
red-flame tights and a dress adorned with an English-language obscenity.

“There is something very unique about Choi — she has a quality that is
different from anyone else (in her generation), and I thought it goes well
with the kind of originality that I strive to achieve when making clothes,”
she adds.

This echoes a new-found trend in Western markets, where brands now choose
models who reflect the diversity in society and social media.

In the past five years, catwalks globally have seen greater age diversity
and models such as Jacky O’Shaughnessy, Jan de Villeneuve, and Elon Musk’s
mother Maye Musk, making names for themselves as fashion stars in their 60s
and 70s.

South Korea’s elderly have lived through Japanese colonial rule, the
Korean
War, severe post-war poverty and the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.

“This country was very poor when I was young,” says Choi, who confesses
she
grew up admiring clothes worn by children at orphanages — children in such
establishments in post-war South Korea were the beneficiaries of donations
from the US.

Her adult life was also one of hardship.

After her husband abandoned her and their two children — simply leaving
home one day and never returning — she was forced to juggle working full
time
while being a lone parent in a nation that can be hostile to single mothers.

“During my years as a single parent of two kids I would wear the same
clothes for as long as 20 years,” she adds.

Demographic crisis

Today South boasts a 43 trillion won (US$ 37 billion) fashion industry
but
Koreans aged 60 or older spend an average of 38,000 won (US$33) a month on
clothes and shoes, while those under 40 spend three times as much.

Now in her mid seventies, Choi says her generation had been “forcing
themselves to be too frugal” and says now is the time to try and live her
own
life.

Choi and other older celebrities have captured the imagination of South
Korea’s youth and garnered large numbers of acolytes online, providing a
small
link between generations that are increasingly divided both politically and
socially.

Fellow senior model Kim Chil-doo, age 64,has some 75,000 followers on
Instagram, while 72-year-old Park Mak-rye, whose posts include make-up tips,
is a YouTube sensation with more than 400,000 fans.

But with the nation facing a demographic crisis, and the ratio of elderly
to those of working age set to soar, tensions are mounting.

Usage of derogatory terms to describe senior citizens — such as
teulttakchung, meaning a “denture-wearing insect” and yeongeumchung, a
“pensioner insect” — has become more common.

A study by the state-run Human Rights Commission found more than half of
those aged 19-39 were worried measures to encourage job creation for the old
would reduce opportunities for the young.

But for many older people, making a life change like Choi is not “even
imaginable” says Michael Hurt, a sociologist at the University of Seoul.

He adds: “Opening a social media account while photographically
documenting
yourself all the time isn’t something they know even exists, let alone
something that they would actually do.” (AFP)
