Lyon’s next manager is Sylvinho

July 26, 2024 | News | No Comments

As reported by RMC, L’Équipe and Euro United yesterday, Lyon’s next Head Coach is former Manchester City, Arsenal and Barcelona left-back Sylvinho.

The decision on the new coach was taken by incoming Sporting Director Juninho, with President Jean-Michel Aulas giving the Brazilian club legend full power to decide who would be managing the club next, in a move that represents a significant departure from how decisions are typically made at the club.

The appointment comes as a significant surprise, with Sylvinho having zero club managerial experience, overseeing the Brazil U23s and U20s instead and having had a significant assistant coaching rule under Tite with the Brazilian national team over the last 12 months since the World Cup. Sylvinho also worked for Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan for a period of 24 months or so.

He is expected to sign a two-year contract with Les Gones.
