Riho Retains AEW Women’s Title in 4-Way Match, Next Defense Set

Despite seemingly insurmountable odds stacked against her, AEW Women’s World Champion Riho successfully defended her title this Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite, pinning Dr. Britt Baker in a wild Fatal 4-Way bout that also included Hikaru Shida and the returning Nyla Rose.

Riho was originally scheduled to defend the title against #1 ranked Kris Statlander, however the challenger-in-waiting was pulled from the show due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict. That match will now officially go on as planned next week.

The question is – will the champion be in any condition to actually compete? After barely walking away with the gold around her waist, Riho was attacked by Nyla Rose after the match.

Rose had previously been out of action for several weeks, after attacking an AEW official and putting them through a table. It came as no surprise, then, when the “Native Beast” placed Riho on top of yet another table, before delivering an absolutely devastating splash from the second rope.
