SCSU day one results at NCAA Division II Championships

The #6 St. Cloud State University wrestling team is competing this weekend at the 2014 NCAA Division II championships in Cleveland.

SCSU’s first round results are listed below. Of note, this is a double-elimination tournament and the action in Cleveland will conclude with the final rounds on March 15.
In the Second Round, here are the results for the Huskies in Cleveland:
125 – Freshman Tanner Johnshoy stayed alive in the wrestlebacks with a 9-8 decision against Skylor Davis of Simon Fraser. His next opponent will be Garrett Evans of Ouachita Baptist in the wrestle backs.
149 – Jay Hildreth advanced to the semifinals in the championship bracket with a big 5-2 win over James Martinez of Colorado Mesa. Hildreth will wrestle in the semi’s against Edwin Copper of Upper Iowa.
157 – Clint Poster became the second Husky to advance to the semi’s with a 23-6 tech fall (6:38) over Mitchell Means of Fort Hays State. Poster will continue his run in the championship bracket with a match against Notre Dame’s Jonatan Rivera in the semi’s.
165 – Sophomore Gabe Fogarty advanced in the wrestlebacks with a pin at 3:05 against Matt Addington of CSU-Pueblo. Next up for Fogarty in the wrestlebacks is Mike Emery of West Liberty.
174 – Clayton Jennissen suffered his second loss of the tournament with a 2-1 decision against Josh Rodriquez of Fort Hays State.
285 – Austin Goergen in the quarterfinals lost a 15-12 decision against Jacob Mitchell of California Baptist. In the wrestlebacks, Goergen will match up against Chris Giddens of UNC-Pembroke.
First Round Action is completed at the NCAA DII Championships on March 14 in Cleveland. Here are the SCSU Results:
125 – Dave Fogle of Pitt-Johnstown charts a 5-2 win over SCSU’s Tanner Johnshoy.
149 – SCSU’s Jay Hildreth scores a 7-4 win over Notre Dame’s (OH) Andrew Bannister.
157 – SCSU’s Clint Poster scores a 9-1 Major Decision win over Kyle Burns of Ashland.
165 – Jeff Weiss of Indianapolis pins SCSU’s Gabe Fogarty at 4:35.
174 – Adam Walters of Findlay defeats SCSU’s Clayton Jennissen by a 7-3 score.
285 – SCSU’s Austin Goergen pins Andy Walton of Mercyhurst at 2:26.
