SDSU Wrestling: NCAA announces allocations; four Jacks ranked

INIANAPOLIS –The NCAA released its qualifier allocations for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. South Dakota State’s Alex Kocer (149), Cody Pack (157), Joe Brewster (165) and John Nething II (174) all qualified an allocation for the Western Wrestling Conference.
In all, the WWC received 15 allocations of the 290-man field.
Pack is the highest ranked Jackrabbit, coming in at No. 16 in the coaches’ rankings and No. 17 in RPI. The returning NCAA qualifier owns a 26-6 record and is on a 10-match winning streak entering the postseason.
Kocer comes in at No. 24 in the RPI and No. 32 in the coaches’ rankings. The Wagner native has a team-high 27 wins on the year.
Brewster, who sits at 21-12 on the year, is No. 27 in the RPI and No. 30 in the coaches’ poll.
Nething II makes his debut in the final rankings as the Paynesville, Minn., native is No. 33 in both the RPI and coaches’ rankings. Nething II is 20-11 on the year.
The Jacks will wrestle in the NCAA West Regional/WWC Championships on March 8 in Orem, Utah with the NCAA Championships taking place March 20-22 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
