The Draw in the Downpour
Last month NJPW superstar and pro wrestling legend Minoru Suzuki celebrated his 30th year in the business with a two-day celebration at the Great Pirate Festival in Yokohama, Japan.
In the festival’s main event, Suzuki faced off against his long-time rival and former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada in front of a reported 18,000 diehard fans and supporters, but the event was truly unique in that the two Japanese mega stars competed for nearly 40 minutes in the middle of a rainstorm. The entire match has actually been uploaded to NJPW World completely free at this link.
The Elite vs Firing Squad
In case you missed it, this past weekend’s NJPW G1 Climax Special in San Francisco ended with Tama Tonga and his brother Tanga Loa storming the ring with the legendary Great Haku (aka Meng) and laying waste to nearly the entirety of Bullet Club.

The faction co-founder sent a message that he was through dealing with the leadership squabbles between Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes, opting to dispose of them both and create his very own Bullet Club: Firing Squad division. With the group now split in its allegiance, it would appear that fans are now in for an all-out turf war between the two sides.
With the 2018 G1 Climax kicking off this weekend in Japan, there are several unanswered questions and aa few very interesting scenarios in front of us. The first is the status of Bullet Club heavy Bad Luck Fale. The Underboss (another faction co-founder) is expected to side with the newly created Firing Squad, but we will more than likely find out for sure on July 14th when he faces Hangman Page. More importantly, Omega will collide with Tama Tonga on July 21st.
